Is there a way to disable pet spotlight alerts?

I'd search but it's broken. The pet spotlights are on the front page, why do we need an alert?

You mean the news post alerts? No, there's no way to disable getting them, but you can just click the dismiss button when it shows up to get rid of the banner without having to visit the news page.

There is probably custom CSS you can get to disable them, but they’d disable all new news alerts as far as I can tell.
