Last night, I wanted to see if a certain username was in use. I clicked on their page and was about to comment them that I loved their name when I saw that they hadn't been on in years. Bummer. But then I saw a link saying I could change my username to theirs. (I'm aware of the fee and all.) Great! I was going to, but then I got to thinking. What will happen if they try to login again? It's doubtful they will, but I tried to login to a Runescape account after forever, so anything is possible. And what about their pets? What happens to them?

their username will change to something like CURRENTUSERNAME1278282717 with a bunch of numbers and when they log back in they will be greeted by an event that tells them that their username has been taken by another user and that they have a free username change available to them. Same thing for their pets if those names get taken.
