Bio: Pearl, River’s mother, left her husband shortly after River was born. At the age of four, River’s powers showed. Horrified, Pearl hunted down her ex-husband and dumped the child at his door. Kent is a curse breaker and travels around a lot. Kent lets her roam the tombs and other sites as she wished. He's inattentive and as a result she also has a guardian named Gabriel. He's her second father. River loves adventure and is a free spirit.

Aria puts on the face of bravery but inside she is afraid of many things. She is a very observant and self-reflecting girl with very little in the way of life’s comforts. She has very few friends to whom she is loyal. She has learned that nobody has the right to be trusted; trust (like loyalty) must be earned.

Aria shares a close telepathic bond with her life-companion, Dax, who is a white-tan snowy owl griffin. She allows people think that Dax is just a loyal companion. The other animals with which she can most openly communicate with are magical beasts. The outcast creatures touch her heart the most deeply and she always helps them.

Aria had been living in the streets for years before entering Hogwarts and continued to do so between the terms while in attendance of the school. After a year of learning at Hogwarts, Aria was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Lee and is now lucky enough to have a new brother: Magnus.

Bio: Tragedy struck early in Rain's life. When she was only 5 years old, her father was killed while on the job as an Auror for MACUSA. Despite this, she has inherited her father's optimism and his sense of adventure. Her No-Maj mother, Rose, had to raise Rain on her own, and sometimes she was unsure on how to advise Rain about her magical talents... It was difficult for her to keep up with Rain's antics. She was happy, therefore, when Rain was accepted into Ilvermorny and had a chance to improve upon and tame her natural talents.

Since her mother would tell her stories about her father's work, Rain had always been interested in Defense Against the Dark Arts. She inherited his talents in the subject, as well as in caring for magical creatures. Rain was always fascinated with animals, both normal and magical alike. Because her parents had an aviary, she is particularly fond of birds, and she has a snowy owl and an Augurey as pets. Although Augureys have a history of being misunderstood, Rain thinks that they make beautiful and gentle companions, despite their slightly forlorn appearance. In her spare time, she reads and researches as much about magical creatures as she can. In the future, she hopes to have adventures while doing field research on magical birds as a magizoologist.

Rain also loves playing Quidditch and flying on her broomstick. She is a quick and nimble flyer, and sometimes she will try to keep up with her pets while they are out flying.

Rain's widowed mother met and fell in love with a businessman from the UK several years ago. They recently got engaged, and since Rose does not have any close living relatives left in the States, they decided to move to the UK where his extended family lives. Since Rain has made friends with some students from Hogwarts through the Triwizard Tournament, her mother felt that now would be a good time to go. She had been hesitant to move before since Rain didn't know anyone there. Rain was a little bit hesitant to leave her Ilvermorny friends behind, but she already knows some lovely students at Hogwarts, and she knows that she will make more new friends there.

Goals: To become a Magizoologist who specializes in birds

I had a pretty great childhood, with magic constantly surrounding me. However, I also appreciate the company of non-magic folk, because my next-door neighbor and best friend growing up was a Muggle.

Goals: To complete my education at Hogwarts and become an Auror! I’d also like to hone my abilities in magical healing.

Azaria didn't really grow up with other children as her home was in the middle of nowhere, she is really good at connecting with animals as she has a great deal of empathy but that means that she has stunted social skills and is not great at conversing and making friends. Goals: Becoming an Augurey breeder like her parents and run a rescue for magical beasts.

Appearance: Extremely tall at 6'3 (and growing!), and muscular due to her preferring to work off pent up emotion by exercising. Her natural build is broad of shoulders and very solid, with slightly too long of limbs and enormous hands, giving her a lanky appearance. She is covered in vitiligo, giving pale patches to her light brown skin. She also has rather a lot of freckles. Her hair in its natural state is brown and coiled, but she likes to play with it, changing the colour, length and texture with magic. It can most often be found as black, silky, and partially shaved. She has muddy brown eyes. Her features are large and harsh.

She's transgender, and hasn't physically transitioned at all, so she looks very masculine and is often misgendered by strangers. She usually prefers feminine looking clothing and styling choices, though. She's pretty interested in fashion and wears a lot of black. She dabbles in a lot of different goth and punk subcultures, though her favourites are nu goth, trad goth, and classic punk. She has gauged ears, an industrial bar, and frequently gives herself sharpie tattoos. Her uncle is willing to spend a considerable amount of money on her wardrobe, as he values the ability for her to express her identity. She can get a lot of wear out of pieces by changing their appearance with magic.

Personality: I ran out of character space, so you can read her full personality here. Basically she's an angry, gutsy, soft-hearted punk. She's stubborn as all hell and constantly driven by self-priority and chaotic urges. She's really smart about some things and really dumb about others. She's borderline, autistic, depressed, anxious, and dyslexic. She's extremely paranoid about authority figures. Her leimotif is Roll Me Through the Gates of Hell by Mischief Brew.

Bio: She grew up in America before moving in with her uncle Valentine Darkhorse, a popular English wizarding crime writer due to her parents neglecting her. This was also truncated due to being too long, you can read the full thing here.

Goals: Civilisation will burn.

For real though, she doesn't usually plan her life more than a week or so ahead. She addresses any questions about what she's going to do with her future either with vague panic or with "I'm going to go become Bigfoot." Her actual plan involves continuing to live with her uncle after she graduates and maybe doing some art of some kind.

She doesn't have any real short term goals either, she just goes where her whims take her.

Appearance: Black eyes and light brown hair. Tall and slim build. Full lips. Face claim.

Personality: Ambitious but selfless: he perhaps would've been suited to Gryffindor. He may seem detached at times but is often the voice of reason for his friends. He is always the one to say "I told you so" with one eyebrow arched and arms crossed over his chest: there is nothing he likes more than being right.

He's a little spoilt and slightly superior, but his entertaining personality and perfectly-timed jokes mean that others seem to warm to him pretty easily. Despite his humorous nature, he's certainly no Hufflepuff: he is sensitive and a little melodramatic, but very funny.

Animals and creatures seem drawn to him and he has a definite calming influence over them. He doesn't have to try very hard at school: his capable academic ability means he can grasp things quickly with little effort. He also avoids extra-curricular so he can hang out in the Slytherin ?? with friends after classes on an evening and go to Hogsmeade on the weekends.

Bio: Nathaniel quite literally means "gift from God" and to his parents, that is what he was. Raised in a Muggle world household in a village in Yorkshire, England, Nathaniel wasn't really able to explore his magical abilities until his invitation to Hogwarts arrived. He was educated in a Muggle school and made good friends - who he still spends time with over the summer months when he's not at Hogwarts - but was able to practice magic at home on an evening under his mother's supervision. His father is a Muggle, his mother a witch.

Goals: He doesn't know what he'd like to do after Hogwarts, though perhaps something related to the care of magical creatures would suit him.

Her older brother, Aaron, is a poet, has graduated from Hogwarts, and is now in Pakistan studying Arabic poetry. Her younger brother is her "Irish Twin," being only 11 months younger than her. His name is Moshe and though he and Kiara bicker a lot, they are also very close. Being at Hogwarts in different years with different friends, they don't hang out as much, but on summer holidays you rarely see one without the other. They'll be arguing and poking fun at each other the whole time, but they'll be together. Both of Kiara's brothers were Ravenclaw, and so was her mother. Her father was in Gryffindor.

Kiara has a few close friends, but is an introvert and can often be found reading by herself. She gets socially exhausted, and then she gets cranky. She has a very ornery cat who spends most of his time hidden away somewhere, then jumps out at you when you least expect it. He and Kiara have a love/hate relationship. Goals: Kiara doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up. She's quite good at public speaking, so she has considered going into politics, though she'd rather work with a grassroots organization rather than join the government. She's not set on that path though. Her older brother is a poet and her younger brother can play pretty much an instrument he lays hands on, and meanwhile, Kiara just wants to read books and frown at people over the tops of them until they are all afraid of her.

There was a quantity of magic here that sheathed these lands and pooled in the hollows of the wild places. It flowed in the mist over rivers and streams and lay heavy in the fog of the mountains. Chrysariel felt it surge with every heartbeat and was astonished that so many people she had met denied that magic even existed. How poor their lives must be!

He loathes rules and can be a bit dishonest and even unreliable. However, he can work well with people sharing his enthusiasm and interests and makes a well-working partner. Yet, Lorcan is far more concerned with efficiency than being emotional support. When it comes to relationships, Lorcan does not care about social classes, as he believes that intellect is not only a thing in the upper class. In fact, he prides himself more on his knowledge about his favourite things than blood status. He takes friendship very seriously.

Even though Lorcan hates to admit it, he cares about magical creatures a lot and is very devoted to animals. He enjoys playing the piano and flying on a broom, but he is a bad Quidditch player as he can't trust others to get the job done as good as himself - at least that's what he thinks.

Appearance: Emmy has long, wavy brown hair that she usually has tied up in a ponytail. Her eyes are blue and she has freckles over her nose and cheeks, and all down her arms and chest. She has a thin vertical scar over her cheekbone near her temple on the left side, from when she fell out of a tree as a kid.

Personality: Emmy is a very relaxed, friendly person. She's comfortable in most situations, aside from certain lessons that stress her out, or if something bad is happening to someone she loves. She will happily hang out alone or with others, and spends a lot of time with her girlfriend, Aderyn.

Bio: Emmy is the first witch in her family in living memory, and she only recently found out that she had an uncle about four generations back that was a wizard, after going through old student records in the library. She is from a Muggle family, in a Muggle village in the Welsh countryside. Her mother is a geologist and her father is a vet, so she grew up around animals and exploring the mountains. Her little brother Scott also got a Hogwarts letter, and was sorted into Ravenclaw last year. Her best friend in the village was Aderyn, who knew about magic and was a witch all along, which Emmy was a bit miffed to discover when she turned 11 and got her own Hogwarts letter, immediately telling Aderyn what had happened. Emmy got over it fairly quickly however and they've happily attended Hogwarts together ever since.

Goals: More than anything, Emmy wants to be a magizoologist when she grows up. Magical creatures are her absolute favourite thing in the world and she can never get enough of learning about and interacting with them. She hopes that her animagus form will help her get closer to some creatures that are too wary of humans to be researched normally.

Appearance: Much like her namesake, Phlox is small and delicate. She has pale skin, freckles, blue eyes, and deep red hair which she’s trying to grow out. She’s rather short for an eleven year old, though not outside the bell curve entirely. She has good posture, always standing and sitting straight, and is very good at avoiding being noticed. She dresses in a tidy, traditional, feminine manner, and wouldn’t be caught dead in red, pink, or orange considering her hair. She prefers a cute but conservative style, avoiding too much whimsey.

Personality: Phlox is practical and polite. She has a naturally kind and down to earth nature, but lifelong isolation drove out her friendliness in favour of keeping her head down and her mouth shut. She constantly minds her own behaviour, and developed an internal bitter acerbity balanced by her desire for friends and empathy for others. She is tidy and fastidious, and likes her things neat and orderly. Though a large part of her loves the outdoors and would love to romp and play she sublimates it for fear of appearing a stereotypical werewolf. Though she does love to garden, and considers this an acceptably sophisticated form of enjoying the outdoors. She is overall fairly concerned with sophistication and appearing ladylike, though her own practical tendencies tend to outweigh it from time to time. Her predilection with being ladylike also stems with her being transgender. Though her caretakers were accepting and helped her sort it out with the school, she is quite afraid of people finding out either of her secrets. As a result she tends to overperform femininity for fear of being called out-- though plenty of it is genuine. But as much as she loves being tidy and pretty, she would love to feel okay with running around and having adventures. As it is she’s a bit of an authority’s pet, scared of the consequences of standing out, and good at very many things that one can do on one’s own -- cooking, gardening, needlecraft -- but very bad at interacting with others. She sews all her own clothes. She feels a lot of disconnect from and rejection of her wolf form, preferring not to think about it and instead treating it like an illness to be managed. She is very responsible and mature for her age, a fact which she takes pride in.

Bio: Phlox was left at a wizarding orphanage at barely a few days old. She grew up never knowing her real parents or anything about where she came from; other than knowing she was a werewolf. She faced consequences for a condition she had no control over for most of her life: she was constantly passed over by potential parents, and isolated from and bullied by other children. This heavily shaped her personality and the way she interacts with others.

Goals: To not get kicked out of Hogwarts; to succeed in school; to maybe make a friend.

Bio: Icarus is the only child of Delphine and Killian Fairchild. He is from an English pure-blood family, and while they maintain dated views on Muggle-borns, they remained a neutral party during the Wizarding War. He, too, possesses similar views of blood superiority but was raised not to be vocal about it. His mother is an Unspeakable and his father is a Potion inventor. His family is very wealthy and continues to amass wealth with their lucrative career positions.

Icarus was sorted into Slytherin instantaneously, which wouldn't surprise anyone who claims to know him. His family was pleased as they themselves are from long lines of Slytherins.

Goals: After he graduates, Icarus would like to be a curse breaker. He likes puzzles, and breaking a curse is just that. His father is a collector of dark artifacts, not for the use but more as a curiosity. As he grew up seeing them within arm's reach, knowing the damage they could do if touched, he became fascinated by the undoing of such dark magic. He intends to do my work freelance. If he's good at something, why shouldn't he sell his talent to the highest bidder? They're paying for a skill they themselves don't possess. Magic, as he sees it, is meant to benefit the possessor. If he's being honest, Icarus wants to be recognized for my prowess and ambition. He wants to make his parents, with their lofty legacies and high expectations, proud of him.
