If you have a pet with a free name change (one of those with the three numbers after an underscore, like [pet not found]) and you do a name exchange with a different pet, does the pet whose name was exchanged still get a free name change? Or has the name change been completely negated at that point?

Yes, exchanging names with a free name change does cancel it out.

it would be cheaper to rename the FreeName to something you want, then do an exchange with a name you have.

Thanks for letting me know - I kind of suspected this but I wanted to confirm. I think I will just take your suggestion and do a rename and consider name exchanging later. And if I need to, I will file a ticket. Thanks too! :)

Yeah the free renames are tied to a pet number not the name. Maybe try to grab a neat name that you can slide back in the pound and make someone else's day?

Like above mentioned I had the same issue a while ago and instead of name swapping I changed my pets name first and then used the free one for my other name that I just renamed :) I made the mistake of changing a name paying 500 csc and then 700 csc to swap when one was free so I made sure to just rename one first and use the free one right away.

Just to be clear, are you guys saying that even if I do a name swap, such as in the first post, then Pet A would still have a free name change, even though it is now called Stacy?

Honestly I never tries to look back and see if it and just did now and it isn't free anymore so it counts as a new name. :)
