We have a very distinctive lack of...normal backgrounds. I'd love to see more:

• house/building interiors (more than the one living room and one kitchen we've got)
• outside cityscapes like...residential streets, parks, markets (farmer's market, grocery store)
• backyards and pools (like, where the pool is behind you, because as lovely as the new collection aerial pool water view is...the HA itself isn't really positioned to appear to be floating)
• maybe a school/college/campus setting
• outdoor stages (could be used for graduation HAs, concert/band/play HAs)
• beaches that aren't solely one style (like, the plates we have that are a beach scene in various lightings are nice, but I can barely see the ocean and also my beaches don't look like those beaches)
• more landscapes in general (more deserts and forests and jungles and mountains - not in the painterly style but like, in a usable with our HAs style)

• a layerable shower background that has a foreground piece (shower head +water and tub front) and a background piece (tile wall inner tub)
• the ha standing in a row with a theater screen behind them
• Beauty and the Beast level library background

• a lot more city backgrounds and ideally, set up so that they could be used for a couple of different historical periods/tech levels
• backgrounds representing middle ages/renaissance
• backgrounds representing regency/victorian/early 20th century
• mid 20th century backgrounds (WWII-50s-Mad Men eras)
• backgrounds representing the era from 1990-present
• futuristic backgrounds (space ports, space stations, futuristic cities, Ziara)
• retrofuturistic backgrounds (what places looked like in 1950s-1970s science fiction movies--everything from The Jetsons to Star Trek TOS to Logan's Run)
• traditional Japanese/Chinese/Korean backgrounds
• modern Asian backgrounds (Shinjuku, Akihabara, Harajuku, Gangnam, etc)

Oh yeah, something that would make it....make sense. Because as cool as it looks, it's basically unusable. The HA is not posed to appear to be floating, it looks like it's standing in front of a wall of water haha.

I am so over landscapes, personally. Most of my avatars don't make a habit of posing for a portrait in the middle of nowhere, no matter how pretty nowhere is.

I'm really not a fan of the photorealistic backgrounds because our avatars look silly on them.

I'm actually planning to use that pool background on the outside of a window to make it look like the building the avatar's in is underwater. That would also be fun to do with some undersea backgrounds.

I do agree we need more backgrounds of places that look like they're where people live. But I did read your suggestion of the farmers market and this popped into my head, from last month's collection. But maybe we need like a different view where there's more stands with product displayed or something!

shit I forgot to buy that lol. I didn't at first because I was like er yeah farmer's markets aren't just fruit and veg, but this year's Neugarten desalinised my bloodstream dramatically after the sodium high I had been on since last year's.

to put you in the middle you'd need a background/foreground set, because cutouts don't cut it--not everything avatars wear is form-fitting, not to mention the whole booty thing.

Yeah, I do too. And yeah, with stalls on the left and right of the background so that you can see more stalls, though idk if that's allowed because I haven't seen much with a real "vanishing point" view like that.

Yeah, I was kinda meh about it at first too, but it grew on me. I added it to my wl so maybe next june I can get a copy xD

I was thinking more along the lines of - the more forward stalls could be partially out of frame and the others could use the middle distance vanishing point. No HA cutout. You could wear it with or without one that way. I'd mock up what I mean better but I'm on my phone at work haha.

But vanishing points are allowed and even the stalls in the collection one aren't in full view, so I think it would be possible.

I agree with this suggestion. We've now got a good range of shopping bags for our HAs to carry so some street scenes with shops would be ideal.

There might be some shops in the far background here but it sounds like the kind of place where it's better to carry a gun than a shopping bag. :D :D

I'd absolutely love a cosy bg with a fireplace that isn't Christmassy--I'm not a Christian, and of my characters, I think only Fairlight is.

(Personally speaking, a cosy fireplace with a menorah in the window and/or a table with Chinese takeout boxes wouldn't go amiss either, lol)

Deep/remote wilderness BGs are pretty but I rarely use them as most of my characters are not wilderness explorers!

I am pretty good at making cute interiors with the walls, floors, stencils etc that we have but there needs to be furniture I can put in there.

A lot of the backgrounds are really pretty but the avatar is so small I can't use them because the canvas just turns into a multicoloured blob. I feel like, if I used most of these backgrounds, I shouldn't have an avatar. Just wear the background and nothing else, but putting anything on top of them looks either cluttered, unidentifiable, or just generally more like stray pixels/a mistake than an actual...whatever it really is.
