Hi. This is my first time for this, event, and I'm wondering what the point is. I'm seeing the bugs, catching em for the NPC, but why? With Vesnali we could give those finds to others for the respective points and shopping sprees; but I'm not seeing anything in the bug catching besides visiting the NPC to get the name, catching the bug when it pops up, and then returning it to the NPC and waiting for the next day. Is that all there is to it?
@ Uadjet Because bugs are awesome! :)
You can put them in your minion zoo, give them to your pets as minions or TC additions, or sell them (just don't forget to report that you found them first!). That's pretty much it...just something fun to find around the site. In other seasons, there will be birds and possibly other things to look for.
Oh, and there's an achievement for catching them too.
Thanks Yeah, bugs can be pretty neat. I'm a bee and dragonfly/damselfly girl personally. Good to know I haven't missed something in this that I'd find out about last minute and kick myself over. Once a day bug netting for minions. Can do.
I just recently experienced fireflies for the first time and I'm still pretty excited about those! Dragonflies had an impressive presence there as well (I was visiting a friend in Missouri). They can keep the ticks though. XP
Happy bug hunting! :D
Awww! I've never seen a firefly in person; that would be so cool.
Thanks and happy bug hunting to you too! :)
They're way cooler than I had ever imagined, and I already have always had a fascination with bioluminescent creatures. I was chasing these things around a cemetery like "I KNOW WHY PEOPLE BELIEVE IN FAIRIES NOW!" lol (Fun fact: Walt Disney's childhood home was in Missouri, which I just discovered by chance and visited, and I'd bet Tinkerbell is based on those Missouri fireflies)
That sounds like it was a great time too. I had no idea about Walt's childhood home but I'll bet you're right about Tink and the fireflies. Totally getting you about bioluminescent critters and others with weird and wild abilities too! Did you know that garter snakes can survive for hours in temps in the negatives? Frozen to the point of ice crystals in body liquids and then let warm again and boom, perfectly good snakie. So cool.
I didn't know that! It's not surprising though, since we have garter snakes here in Washington and it does get below freezing in the winter. They must survive somehow. Certain frogs and fish are well-known for their cryogenic survival abilities. Their cells usually contain a natural antifreeze that keeps sharp ice crystals from forming and damaging the cell walls. Nature is amazing!
Yep, not often, but there's been some really cold ones here. Natural antifreeze is what saves the garters too. Totally agree again too. If it wasn't for our having opposable thumbs and making all the stuff we make to handle the things some fish and frogs can shrug off, nature would have stomped us flat centuries ago.
