Kijo has been my book-reading/battle pet for a long time, but I've been wanting to make
Ryubence
my new book/battle pet since it suits her character better (and because I'm not actually that attached to Kijo; RIP 2012-2017 me).

I wish there was a stat swapper! ;__; It'd be insanely expensive to re-buy all 1100+ books for Ryubence (she's read 394 vs. Kijo's 1503), so elixiring, potioning, and name-swapping them would probably be cheaper... but then I'll also have to switch their TCs around, which is going to be a pain, haha.

Has anyone switched their main book/battle/etc. pet before? I want to do it, but I'm not sure if I want to do an elixir/potion/name-swap/TC shuffle, or just... train up Ryubence and bite the bullet on the price of her books. The latter option is easier, but pricier.

I know your pain! I have the same problem with my gourmand pet. I'd like to make my battle & book pet also my foodie pet but ugh. I don't have patience to buy a million food items again. It would take ages to feed them, too ,____, AND I keep forgetting to feed new foods to my gourmand pet all the time!

I made a boo-boo assigning the roles back in the Stone Age and it still bothers me. To me it would only be logical for one of my pets to have all these three roles since.

Why don't you just switch their names?

Was about to suggest what Lisa said, maybe this case might be worth a name swap! Now that we have the mass-add for treasure chests it goes a little bit faster. You can remove all the items from one, put them in a shop or some unique place you can get them all back easily, remove the items from the other pet, mass add them to the correct pet, remove the TC items in the shop and mass add those to the correct pet. Biggest time sink is just rearranging them again if there are a lot.

I have wanted to mass-relocate all the food my gourmand has eaten before, it's a shame haha. My original choice for gourmand wasn't ideal. :P I think the gourmand is the most painful because you actually have to wait to feed it so it's a huge time sink, while you can force your pet to read however many books you want in any amount of time as long as you have the sP.

i've swapped some big/specifically organized TCs before so i understand the struggle haha I think it's still way worth a name swap & tc switch vs. buying all of those books or food, though.

Ryubence has 200+ items in her TC right now, so I’d also have to transfer a ton of slots over from Kijo, and there’s unfortunately no “mass remove from TC” function yet. ;_; Plus I’m weirdly attached to the two of them keeping their original birthdays with their characters?? Pixel sentiments, haha.

I decided to just start buying books for Ryubence lol... I don’t know if I’ll also make her my battle pet, but having her be my book pet suits her character best. It’s a bit expensive, but it’s less tedious than having to change over her TC, and less CSC-costly since I won’t have to buy a Neela elixir and a name swap (plus sP costs from potions and other elixirs). :’D

On the bright side, most of the books I read to Kijo aren’t too expensive to buy again. Just... a lot of various Quest Point books and holiday shop books (steamworks trinkets, etc.). But those currencies can be earned again pretty easily!

Kijo has 1519 intelligence right now, which should be alright for a semi-casual battle pet (her other stats are ~375 at the moment).

I think I switched one of my battle pets once because the new pet I just got had higher stats than the one I was training and I wanted to battle with my first pet sooner. I still train the other pet though. I feel your pain with books. Intel is very expensive. I have 10 battle pets now, 5 that I am actively reading books to and raising intel. I also had another pet that I raised specifically as a starter battle pet to be adopted out to someone that wanted to start battling. I spent a few mil sP in books to get him to 400 intel. It was a lot of work just for the purpose of re-homing him. I say train up both pets so you can get more loot during site battle events.

Could be worse, you could have 10 pets that need intel ;p

I feel your pain! My gourmet pet is separate, so I'd like to have separate book and battle pets too, but Anozira is both of those, partly by default, because she's the pet I've had the longest. All my other core pets (the I-would-never-let-go-of-these set) have read about 800, which is a long cry from Anozira's 1240. On top of that, all core pets are supposed to read all the same books, so multiply 400 x 8 in terms of cost.

OTOH, battling with scrolls requires AP, which is gained through intelligence/reading books. So it is a benefit to have the battler and reader be the same pet.

Maybe you could have a back-up reader? For me, Wae used to be my back-up until I evened out her stats with the others. So I guess technically they're now all my back-ups, though the gap widens between them and Anozira on the daily.
