I apologize if this is an obvious question, but what are the rules about swearing on Subeta? I've seen cussing in stories on pets' profiles and around the forums, but I'm not sure what's allowed and what's not. I don't want to put an expletive in one of my pets' stories and get in big trouble for it, haha. ;v;

I can confirm that cursing is allowed on the forums. I don't know about pet stories, and I'm pretty sure they're disallowed from places like pet names and user shop names? But I don't know if that's all curse words or only some (like damn and hell being allowed but not harsher words, etc.) or if I may just be wrong about that completely

Your best bet is to file a ticket when it comes to a rule question

There's a function in user dashboard that lets people choose to filter cuss words. If its on the words get changed to other things. If its off they see the cuss word. The only rule is to not purposefully write words out in a way to evade the filter.

The filter option doesn't exist anymore (which is mainly why I'm a little unclear as to where they are/are not allowed and which words)

I know user shop names didn't used to get filtered, which is why they weren't allowed there. I don't know if that still stands given that there is no filter anymore? And I always thought only mild cursing was allowed on a pet profile for a pet to be spotlight eligible (though I haven't actually double-checked this in a long time) but I don't know if they used to be filtered on profiles or not

I think it would be okay for pet profiles, as long as it's typed. I think there is or used to be a rule of no swear words in images because they couldn't be filtered by the site filter when it used to exist, and also considering browser extensions and other things people can use to filter swear words if they want to.

But yeah, if you want a clarification of what kind of swearing is or isn't allowed, it's best to file a ticket.

afaik, the current official stance regarding filters is that if a user doesn't want to see explicit language, they can use a browser extension, as the site itself no longer filters language. therefore as long as you're not doing anything to evade filters (e.g. using special characters or images instead of plain text) then you're probably fine, aside from the exception of pet names (and maybe shop names?). if you're unsure as to whether any particular words are "too lewd" for any given part of the site, then asking staff via ticket would be the way to go.
