I was afraid of running out of room in the subject title, but my question is this:

If I wanted to link someone to a topic in a forum group that they're not a part of, would they be able to view the link?

Would they have to join the group first?

as mentioned, if you want them to see the topic itself, they need to join the forum group. but if it's only a few posts/a few posts you did in all in a row, you could link them to whichever page it is in your recent posts -- /forums.php/recent/posts/userid/# private group posts are not hidden.
