I've laid OaZuoM to rest, and chosen Elysium to carry on with.
Hard to believe how much time has passed since I first heard about Subeta on an old Neo board and migrated over for good. The site has come a long way since then; improved shops, user shops, battles, exploration, the Human Avatar system, quests, the events, the forums.
No more captchas when you try to buy an item. No more auction or stock market. No more trivia game. No more Journals, and then in time the cults that were likewise closed out.
Plushie collecting was the first big draw for me early on(for the sp reward it gave out for each tier), then the beanbags and eventually the trading cards(that I still have to get to ruby tier).
My first pet was a Mortiking(now a Chibi Experiment ). Then a Magnus(Galactic) and Telenine(Graveyard). I couldn't believe my luck when I found a Cadogre in the adopt-r-us shelter(Kilroy, already slightly strong). I also pulled a Warador(now Hydrus) around the same time. When Blackmoon's factory on Atebus finally opened up again I adopted a Endeavor(now Chibi). Eventually I either created or adopted a Harvester(now a Chibi Experiment ), and my pet family has continually grown since then. I can no longer remember what SunDragon used to be, though he has long been a Experiment (now Chibi).
I still remember the era when you could battle Maleria, though Kilroy was never close to strong enough before she was phased out. Now he's in the top 20 pets with an armory to threaten every major enemy available.
It was such an improvement when Battle Quests were introduced to earn experience. No longer relying just on the training center or trying to boost using items, a constant, daily available influx of EXP. Even then, however, Battle Questing was a much different system then what we have now, where enemies are streamlined from easy to impossible tier at their set amount of EXP and some prize for winning.
I remember the original Crack the Safe game, and how at the time when I first solved the simpler combo, the most valuable item on my account was the Phalen(priced at 500k) that it gave out... whereas in the last year I've given away or sold close to 2 billion pure(mostly pulled from my wardrobe), and making 500k in a day is simple with quests.
Back then, questing was much more hit or miss. You had to manually copy and paste the requested item and open a new tab yourself search for the items, and with the Wizard, you were never guaranteed to get a wizard token for your troubles. He loved to hand out nonsensical items that may or may not have been worth it. When Saggitarius showed up it was a pretty big deal, but his requirement to have at least 700k pure on hand at all times made him not worth the effort to me at the time.
I remember when we could upload random avatars(including gifs, if I'm not mistaken) that were relatively small overall, and how much I disliked the HA system that replaced it at first, but in time it became my second most fun activity and the next largest sP sink after investing in battling.
I remember when I made my first friend here() after several years, and now I have quite a few(, , just to name some) who make the holidays like Luminaire worthwhile at last.
If there is anything that I regret about my time on Subeta, however, it would be the months that were simply missed because I left the site for one reason or another early on. Whether it was too much hassle to earn pure or a simple boredom with trying to grind for experience and training, I've missed some major events(like the Islander War in its entirety, and the first Masquerade). I regret not training Kilroy(and eventually SunDragon) properly during those earlier years.
And I regret not participating with the community more until the last couple of years. I still don't chat enough with the folks in the Battle Chat thread, but I've tried to help out with advice in the wider Battle subforum. It was a lot of fun to contribute to this year's Survival with biting, and the Luminaire giveaway before that. But overall, I'm just not a social enough person, and my anxiety about saying the wrong thing stops me from saying anything at all more often then not.
I didn't realize until now that Trivia was discontinued... I sure do miss the auctions though. Nice UN change , you've certainly done a lot.
Nice name choice! I am still quite active on Neo but I returned here recently after getting bored with Neo and found myself sticking around. I enjoy how easy this site is to navigate, the dynamic pet designs, the economy, the quests. Everything is so much better lol
