I was at 10k/10k, so I spent over an hour moving extra stuff from my gallery to my vault, at least 2000 items. Now it says I'm 10k/10k...uhm...what?!

there's a cache delay, and what it counts for maximum size is not 10K total items but 10K different items. If it's a cache delay come back in two hours or so and the new size number will show. If you just moved a ton of some items over but left at least one of them in your gallery, your count will not change.
