So last game of Subeku I finished in under 15 minutes on Easy.

Second game of Subeku, also level easy, 55 minutes just to get this. And it's not done yet... :

From my personal experience I would say that this puzzle does not represent the "easy" level. I'm going to have to use the "hints" for crying out loud. :(

I have come to the conclusion that all levels of Subeku represent the same difficulty. The only difference between Very Easy and Difficult is how many hints are made available to you.

I've gotten to the point where I just always play on Hard (wasn't using the hints anyway), and if I get irrevocably stuck, or I start a new puzzle and it looks supremely difficult, I just refresh and try again.

You only get to do it ten times a day anyway. Plus you get more sP for Hard (15k) than for other levels.

Edit: Also, a word of advice: if you have more than two spots in a 3x3 square where a number can go, don't put it down in the notes. (Very occasionally I'll do three spots, but never more than that.) I've found whenever I put the notes in multiple spots it gets very messy very quickly, and it makes it easy for me to miss solutions. :)

I can barely play this game and need every single hint most of the time. I have played it sometimes with someone who does play it well kibitzing over my shoulder. We think the Hard games are more difficult, and it's not just a matter of number of Hints.

I actually use the notes in the opposite way- that is to say, I'll note every number that can't occupy that specific space. That allows me to continue adding additional numbers to each space in my notes as I fill in the board, no guesswork required. For example, if I have every number but 5 listed on a space, I know that space has to be a 5.... Perhaps try that method?

I'm not saying that the Hard levels can't be difficult. What I believe, though, is that Very Easy has just as much likelihood of being difficult as Hard does. Ironically, if Very Easy actually was very easy, you probably wouldn't need to use the hints, or at least not all of them.

That's why I stopped going to Very Easy - if I've just as much of a chance at getting a difficult puzzle there as I do on Hard, might as well try hard and hope for one that makes sense to me right away. I've had Very Easy puzzles that I couldn't solve, and I've had Hard puzzles that I've solved within ten minutes.

Then again, there are different ways to approach Subeku, and everyone has their preferred method. 's method would probably not work for me, but it works for her. So what makes sense to me might not make sense to someone else; in other words, what I perceive as difficult might look easy to someone who looks at sudoku puzzles differently, and vice versa.

The only difference between levels is the amount of hints. I always choose Hard, it has the biggest payout. If I can't find a few easy to fill lines/squares then I abandon the game and start again.
