So I now have three cws I am selling and I am tripping over promotion. I am someone who doesn't like to bother people, even when it isn't really a bother. It makes me all icky. I was thinking of teaming up with someone as my agent or promoter. They get a free slot on any of my items they want. Is that fair? Any one willing?
maybe one of you?
What are you looking for in terms of promoting your items? I'm not the most veteran person around when it comes to being in the CW market, but I'd be happy to help you if I can.
Ah, I see. I think most people just promote their CWs through their shop threads in the Custom Clothing forum. Besides pinging your own group(s) for releases, you can certainly feel free to ping artists' groups (if your items are drawn by other people) and the # customwear group. For artists' groups, generally, you can ping once for each new item/recolor (but of course, you should check with the artist to make sure you're pinging their group according to their rules). And # customwear can be pinged once every 2 weeks for a new release, re-release, or recolor. In addition, there are the # 1stbatch and # cwfill groups, which are usually pinged after # customwear and if you're still looking for slotters. # 1stbatch signals that you're looking for help in filling the 1st batch of an item, and # cwfill signals that you've only got a couple slots left on an item and are trying to fill them up as quickly as possible.
Other than that, some artists/releasers promote their CWs through public events, such as raffles/giveaways, HA contests, and holiday-related events (like kissing contests for Survival and dancing contests for Masquerade). You could run an event(s) by yourself, or you could try partnering up with another releaser(s) to run an event(s) together. And, as a recently growing trend, some artists/releasers have their own Discord channels for connecting with others and further promoting their releases. Any of these could possibly provide you with more opportunities to make yourself more visible to the public and attract potential customers.
Aaaahhhh, I hope that helps a little...? But if there's something more specific you're wondering or thinking about, let me know, and I can see if I can provide more tips/help. n_n
Oooohhh yeah, that's a really good tip, ! I definitely second that. :)
hey lady! yay for new cws!!!
When I was trying to sell mine, I just used the cw forums and then pinged customwear.
However, as Reiko said, promoting during events or with contest is also a great way!!
Love may not always be destiny, But a Gift.

You and I suffer from the same problem. I always feel like I'm bothering people even when I'm likely not. Don't like asking questions and I am terrible at trying to sell myself. I think that is part of the reason I've not done a recolor of my single CW. :( I have a shop full of CWs that I don't use that I'm trying to sell from too and my single try at advertising it caused anxiety so I've not tried again yet. Sorry I'm not any help. 😞
