I'd like to suggest that pet intelligence levels as they relate to Alchemy Points be reconsidered and hopefully restructured. Right now, it's an incredibly confusing and multifaceted process. Here are the problems I can see at a glance:

Issues

  1. We're all pretty familiar with the idea, even as newbies, that reading books to pets increases Intelligence.
  2. But Intelligence matters in battle, because it directly affects which scrolls can be used, although scroll use isn't based on actual intelligence.
  3. Instead, the stat used to calculate a pet's ability to use scrolls is called Alchemy Points.
  4. This is confusing because we also have an Alchemist in the Underground who crafts items restricted by level which in turn are based on the number of, you guessed it, Alchemy Points you have. But not THOSE Alchemy Points.
  5. So we now have two very different mechanisms on site which use the same terminology. It would help if one were changed.
  6. It's also very confusing how to level up intelligence-related AP in general. A pet receives one AP point per 16 intelligence points....but ONLY if that last point comes from reading a book.
  7. There's no place that tracks the current number of intelligence points a pet has; by that I mean if you lose count, you can't tell how many int. points your pet needs before it gets another AP level.
  8. Why 16 points? Why not something more rounded, like 10? or 15?

In short, the whole AP process as it relates to battle is convoluted, confusing, and frustrating. It isn't written anywhere that I know of except in user-produced guides in the Battle Forum, and not having it spelled out clearly on site creates a barrier to battling for a lot of folks.

Suggested Solutions:

  1. Rename intelligence-based Alchemy Points to Intelligence Points or Battle Intelligence or something other than Alchemy Points.
  2. Adjust the number of intelligence needed to raise AP to something rounded like 10 or 15. As a casual user, I have to hunt this number down every time and I'm sure many people don't even know this is a thing.
  3. Have a place on site that shows how many INT points remain before the next AP level.
  4. Fix the bug that requires a book to be read to get the AP raise (instead of using a booster).

Or do away with AP completely: Alternatively, I suggest a complete overhaul that does away with intelligence based AP entirely. Why not just pair scroll use with intelligence, flat out? Instead of saying "Scroll requires 10 AP to use", have it be "Scroll requires 160 INT to use". It would solve so many of the above complications.

Thanks for considering!

I think this is the best suggestion. People would still read books to their pets and buy intelligence stat boosters to equip scrolls.

A similar topic came up recently.

I support the last option wholeheartedly. AP is, imo, simply not necessary and overcomplicates things. I think it's just there to make the numbers smaller, or something? But it's already auto-calculated when you make a scroll set so... I don't know.

If not a complete removal, then just rename them into magic points or something. We already have HP, so MP would be the most fitting option, but that's just me.

tbh AP is one of the reasons i haven't gotten more into battling. i don't get it. idk what all these different points are or do or how to get them, whatever. i don't understand why battling has to be so complicated on top of being expensive as heck- subeta pls simplify the battle system if it's gonna be so important to plots & stuff
