Hi, I'm stalking a name for a while now, wich is on a account with just a few comments and nothing on his profile. I'm pretty sure thats one of those accounts which some idiot (am I allowed to say this) has created to just store pets with "worthy" names and never has a need for those pets/names.

My question now, is Subeta doing something against those accs?

I know, I'm also not a very active user, or don't do anything special with my pets except than collecting stuff in their treasures, but I really wish, that those accs get removed, and people are able to get their hands on the names they want.

I think I'm not the only one with this problem but also couldn't find anything about it, so I want to ask if someone know anything about it, or is Subeta doing something against those "pet name hoarders"

PS I also saw an accout, where the user says that he/she (can't remember) is only active a few days in the year, just so nobody gets the names. I know they own those pets, and were faster then me creating the names, but I think users who are saying it so openly shouldn't be on this page.

1. if you suspect multi accounts please make a ticket with the info that you have to show why you think its a multi account situation. Staff will handle that from there.

2. there is no rule about making use of a pet name. The only rule regarding names is the one about what you can name a pet. So names can rot on accounts.

3. name hoarding has always been a thing here. Its not fun to think of all the names "wasting" on accounts that the person doesn't even play but few times a year. But so long as they never hit an inactive status they can keep the names as long as they want.

I have a very busy real life now so I barely find time to work on my Pets. Do I have to adopt them out now because I am not worthy anymore even though I paid lots of $$$ for renaming etc and still feel highly attached to my pixel darlings? I don't think so...

Sure, I can understand your frustration (have this happen with a username) but as long as it's within the rules people can do what they want with their account.

Subeta does have a "be nice" rule. How this intersects with their fairly open attitude of free discourse is idiosyncratic. You should file a Ticket in Help to see if you can call them by that name.

Subeta doesn't have a "you get whatever names you want if someone you don't like has them" rule. More than one account: this is strictly not okay and gets strongly enforced. If you have evidence that this is not an extremely casual player but someone else entirely with more than one account, then file a Ticket in Help and report it.

hey man calling people names just because they play subeta differently from you is not cool at all :v

nobody is more worthy or deserving of names than others some people just like owning certain names and that's absolutely okay, regardless of if they do anything with the pets or not

besides how can you know they aren't active? not everyone posts in the forums or has a custom profile. maybe they're on hiatus? you really can't know, and saying the site should punish ppl who play subeta differently is, frankly, pretty awful

I understand the frustration over not being able to get the perfect petname, but there's really no need to be rude and mean about it. 😕

If you think it's someone multi-accounting, definitely fill a ticket. Other than that, your only options are to sit and wait until they go inactive, or to take it to the suggestions forum if you think it's a big enough issue to warrant changing. There were topics discussing petnames and the current petname system in the suggestions forum fairly recently, so you might want to read and post on those.

However, I will add that if we start making up elaborate rules on what qualifies as a good pet owner who deserves to keep their petnames, or a player who deserves to keep their account even though they log in periodically, the site may as well go ahead and just shut down immediately. Nobody would want to deal with that.

not being able to get a name you want totally sucks, but sadly that's just the way subeta is rn.. and i hate to say that someone deserves a name more than another even if i do understand how it can be frustrating! i suggest checking out the topic in suggestions & ideas about non-unique pet names- could always use more support on that haha

Real talk though, , users can do whatever they want with their pets. That includes nothing and logging in once a year. Unless it's a multiple account, but staff would have to look into that.

unless that user called you nasty names, or is breaking any rules, you or subeta don't get to police what they can or can't say on their profiles or do with their account. Consider if another user doesn't like what you say or how you play subeta (what you do with your pets), would you like it if they called for your account to be removed? wouldn't you hate it if there were rules added to the site stating how you need to play, and if you don't do x and x, your account and pets will be taken from you? (I mean there are ones already, you just need to log in within a year.)

I agree if you think there is foul play aboard, certainly file a ticket. If they did something wrong and got frozen you'd not be guaranteed their pet names.

Thanks for the lot of answers. I have to apologize if I have offended someone. I never said anything against people who can't play Subeta regularly becuase of real life. I also can't.

I'll also add I know I have names people desire, some of which likely frustrated people I have nothing on their pages. I'd hate to be told I need to do x thing(s) to their pages or lose them. Its not always that someone has no plans but rather have other goals first before pet pages get done up. And as barren as my pages are I have paid a fair amount for names and swaps. As well as training for some.

I think its more that fair we have a year in which to come back to keep our names and stuff. That also should our names be taken we will be issued free renames. Personally I don't think we can ask for anything better than that as far as pet sites go.

I understand the frustration of not being able to get the perfect name for your pets, but I think of it this way. We all play differently. Some people like to post a lot, some people don't post at all. Some people restock from shops all the time, some people never do. I can see the appeal of collecting a lot of cool pet names. I don't hold it against that person if that's all they do on subeta. We're all just here for fun, and that person is having fun in their own way.

If you need help coming up with alternative names for your pets, feel free to ask on the pet forums, I know lots of people would be happy to help, myself included. I'm fond of spelling the name I want slightly differently, so Sophie becomes Sofe, or Bonnie becomes Bonni. They still capture the essence of the character's name, and now they're unique!

Just because someone doesn’t have a lot of comments (or achievements or forum posts or ...) doesn’t mean they’re not an active user. It just means they don’t play Subeta the same way you may. That’s the great thing about Subeta...there are so many things to do and there’s something for people with a variety of interests. The fact is, we can be frustrated when there’s a name we want, but that doesn’t mean we “deserve” it more than another person. A lot of people think I’m a name hoarder. Used to bother me. The amount of fucks I give about that now - zero. I am sorry that there are names you’re pining for. I do understand that frustration. But, I’m sure with a little creativity and patience, you’ll find other names that meet your needs. Good luck!

Do you mean they have multiple accounts? As others have said, that is strictly against the rules and when it is found out, it's shut down right quick.

But do you mean how they play? That's what people are having a problem with because:

You can't look at an account and judge how often someone comes here. Even if they explicitly say that they only come on here a few times a year just to keep the names. You don't know their life circumstances, you don't know what nostalgia or feelings they may have tied together with those names, you don't know what they do when they are here. And on top of all that, some people don't bother to update their profiles with any regularity anyway, so it can be an old message.

If I were to..."retire" from Subeta, or get so busy with life that I can't come on here often, there are probably a few names I'd want to keep and try to remember to come on once in a while just to make sure I can keep them. Some of them may be coveted by other users, but that's not really my problem. They are special to me, and I've invested in them. Why should they just be taken away from me because life got in the way?

Not to mention, people who check in every now and then to keep their pet names are potential re-users. Maybe one of those times they start to do a few quests, play a few games, respond to a couple of posts, and before they know it they're heavily involved in the game again.

Or do you mean that someone has too many names that you think should be more dispersed to other people? What constitutes too many? Is it wrong for user A to have a bunch of pets with RW food names because now other people can't have those names? Why?

That they don't deserve them because they never "do" anything with them? Again, how would you know? For the majority of my time on Subeta, most of the stories I've written about my pets have remained in my head or at the very least unpublished on Subeta. Right now all my pets have blank profiles because I've restarted. If someone were to look at my account right now, would they think I was hoarding names?

Is it unfair that you can't have the name(s) you want? Absolutely. But it's not something that will ever be fair, in that sense. Tis better to let go and come up with a different name. You might even find that this stretch of the imagination adds some nuance to the character of the pet that you never thought of before. And if you really must, keep an eye on the names you wish to one day have. Maybe one day, you'll get lucky. And maybe one day, you won't even want that name anymore.

Not to mention that after coding changes broke pet profiles for a lot of people, many have decided to wait until the newest pet profile system is released before they continue working on their pets. So, again, how would you know that's not the case for whatever user you're stalking? You wouldn't! ;)

My only opinion is that if you lord it over someone that you have a certain name, you're deserving to be smacked for it. I don't care if you have a certain name or no, rub my face in that and we'll have a problem. That's it... cuz doing that to someone is just rude.

There are a few names on accounts where the people claim they only log on once a year to keep the names that I would personally love to have but knowing the person probably will never allow the name to clear, sucks but I have found quite a few names I love that cleared, even spent hours waiting prior to be there on the day they cleared to get them and even ones I am waiting to clear.

In fact, to be honest, I had a name I had found on an account that I wanted which wasn't really active but the owner still logged on, show up in the adopt r us randomly.

And in truth, if I decided I was leaving, there are a few names that I personally would log in once a year to keep - one being a Japanese name of my OC and the other being my sister's name whom passed away as well as a certain video game series.

And I know I have a few nice RNs or RWs that people probably would love to get, I see names almost every day I would love to have and I know a few names, I have asked the owners if they ever decide to let the pet go, to let me know if possible. I don't know if that is seen as rude but most don't seem to mind letting me know if the name does go ufa in the future.

But as for my pets.. at the moment, I am a student in higher education and I don't have the time to make or chase up pretty profiles, stories, etc for my pets. A few have ideas started, etc but if someone told me I had to design and do something with a pet or lose them like that, I would be upset.

And I have to agree on finding different spellings or even locating the name in a different language? I know a few English names have really pretty Gaelic translations and I know I ran into a few free Gaelic rws.
