I've been reading guides and FAQs again and again, yet my poor tiny brain is still tangled into a knot. Please help me understand if I'm understanding right or not.
So, right now I'm reading this guide and I've come to this section right here: [spoiler]b) I pay 1,600csc to submit it for approval. Once it has been approved, only 1 copy of the wig will appear in my inventory. I am now free to release more copies via my cw shop for whichever amount I want. The profit I get is the difference between the base pricing and the price I tag it for.
i. Because the wig’s base cost is 500csc per copy, I may price it at a minimum of 600csc/piece.
10 copies sold @ 600csc each = 1,000csc profit (100csc per copy sold)
[small]Note: at this rate, I will not have covered the initial submission fee of 1,600csc[/small]
ii. 10 copies sold @ 700csc each = 2,000csc profit (200csc per copy sold)
[small]Note: I’ve covered my initial submission fee of 1,600csc and made 400csc profit[/small][/spoiler]
...which I understand to say:
Because the wig in the example costs 1,600 CSC and wigs are in the same price slot as Unique Limbs/Base Edits in the Official FAQ, does this mean that submitting a fox-bum item (which replaces the legs) would cost 1,600 CSC also? Or have I gone completely off track somewhere?
Sorry if this sounds dumb but I want to make 100% sure I understand. Have I said 'understand' enough yet?
I think batch size is five now?
The entire amount of the sale goes to you, not just the "profit" part. 10 copies x 600 = six thousand. 6000>1600, therefore not a loss.
Okay, so with the direct-to-CS method, , you're completely correct. You would pay the 1600 CSC and receive one copy. If it's a commissioned item and you also owe an artist a copy, you'll have to buy an additional one from your own shop for that. Your math with the pricing is spot on, and all items in the same price bracket cost the same amount to submit (so unique limbs, backgrounds, etc. will cost the maximum of 1600 CSC for submitting direct to the cash shop)
If you submit in batches, that's where you would pay a bit more (currently 2500 CSC maximum) and you would receive 5 copies of your item in your inventory when it's approved, or you can input other usernames for people who want to pay for slots before the approval (or you could add your artist's name with a slot price of 0 so they get their copy right away, if applicable). You can still move it into your CW shop from there if you want, and it'll have the same minimum pricing.
You only receive the profit part of the CSC paid though, no matter which way you go about it. If you were to submit a 5-item batch yourself and sell the extras, you'd get the full 600/700/whatever slot cost back per item, but only after fronting the full 2500 CSC yourself.
...hopefully, that was clear, but I can try to do better if it wasn't :')
