I can't figure out why it won't work, I use the @ symbol it doesn't work, I use the button straight from the forums MADE for pinging people, and still it only comes up as just normal text? I know it's been a long time since I've been around, but... well, I just can't figure out why it's not pinging?

It seems fine to me? It's probably from pinging many individual users. The FAQ states that "You can ping 10 individuals at a time."

After some testing, I think it just doesn't like me editing posts and won't show up until I refresh.

you can lock this, I think we figured out the issue, it just wants to be refreshed after an edit.

If you edit a post with a ping in it, the ping changes to plain text but doesn't send again (so if, for some reason, you need to ping the same person or group to the same post, you'd have to edit to remove the ping or add a space between the @ and the name, and then edit a second time to re-ping)

I'm not sure if it still shows up as plain text instead of a link if you edit a totally new ping into the post, but in that case, it should still go through I think [edit] Yes, the ping shows up as plain text if you edit a new ping into a post but it still goes through
