Ahhhh the joys of home ownership~ This is now the fourth time I've had issues with water in the basement - if it's not one thing it's another (washer broke, pipe detached from under the sink, rain) - and I've now owned this home for 2 years. Juuuust finished a remodel of the basement after installing a new french drain system to fix the issue of water seeping into the house from the exterior and now....now my sewage injector pump fails and I'll likely have to replace the brand new carpet and vinyl plank flooring. -_-' I really, really hate water.
Now I'm just waiting for the next couple hours till the plumber can come out and replace the pump so that the restoration company can come and tell me what's got to go, and then finally have it replaced and put back to how it was... -deep sigh- Unplanned expenses always suck...I guess, on the bright side, at least now I'll know when the sewage injector pump was installed and exactly how old it is. :'D Older homes are great!
Haven't had to deal with that yet but I deal with apartment troubles. Not the same thing, but atlas you don't have people living above you that sound like a heard of elephants. The noise is so loud sometimes that I think they might fall through our celling. I'll be a home owner this August and I can't wait. Do you have insurance to cover this? Water always sucks though.
Hahaha, oh I remember the woes of apartment living too. Those nights when you wondered if they were up there playing basketball or something... That's exciting about being a homeowner soon! :D For as many issues as I've run into, I don't regret it. It's nice having control over all the things - it just sometimes sucks when that includes all the problems too... it was definitely nice having a landlord you could call to have things fixed and not have to worry about having to get it scheduled and paid for yourself. You'll love it and you'll hate it, but mostly you'll love it! :P
I do have insurance indeed. They don't cover the pump, that one's all on me, but whatever they need to do with regards to taking up the flooring, treating it, and putting it all back down again is where the insurance comes in. The plumber finally got it all fixed up so that now the restoration company can come over tomorrow morning to do their thing. It's especially frustrating that I literally finished refinishing the basement a few months ago and now I'm already having to (potentially) take up all the flooring that was just put down. -grumbles-
That does suck but atleast you don't have to pay to get it redone!
Yup woes is right. I have a leaky porch roof, cracked bath tub and always so much yard work.
I feel your pain :( My plumber just sent me an invoice for a new heating system... My current system is so old and blocked that it needs all the radiators replacing -_- Houses can be so stressful and expensive can't they?
I hope to be a homeowner sometime soon. i really don't care about those expenses. Im just sick and tired of being scared of sneezing and wondering if something will break apart and the landlord thinking it's my fault and make me pay. I also dislike water that is outside of where it's meant to be - like on the floor, on the walls, ....
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
