So I keep all my gourmand's yet-to-be-consumed food in my vault uncategorized, since I don't want to spend time sorting stuff into categories when I'm going to eventually take it out. Each day I stuff his face with food, go to the cleansing baths, and take another 10 items out of my vault. Normally this goes without a hitch, since I'm pretty OK with sorting non-food items that are in my vault. And if I do accidentally take something out that isn't edible, it's no big deal--just a minor annoyance. It's a matter of putting that thing back into the vault, and taking another food item out.
Until today. Today, I took out a common scootle elixir. And you guessed it... my badass vibrant, toothy gator (or croc?) turned into an adorable yellow snail-rabbit. I didn't even realize it was an elixir until I got the confirmation message that he'd been transformed.
It wasn't difficult to fix, since qrykees aren't experiments anymore (my gourmand has been a qrykee since before they became an official species, and OOF that would've hurt if I had to zap him again), but I'm still out 14 mil and a scootle elixir. Ah well, lesson learned!
OMG a new way to mistakenly change your pet! I've heard of people accidentally zapping, deliberately feeding an elixir - but to the wrong pet, feeding one of the filled bottles that turn yoru pet into a camel. But this is definitely a new one! LOL not that a lot of people, myself included, have screwed up because we were on auto-pilot, so you aren't alone that way.
Sorry that happened and happy that it was easily fixed even though it cost you a pretty penny.

Sorry that happened but I know how it feels to morph a pet you really didn't want to...
There's too many ways to accidentally morph a pet lol! Oh well, it at least keeps me on my toes for the next time I feed him.
It's an irritating-to-downright-devastating experience--like either way, it's changing something you worked for into something else. But some pets are easier to get than others--I wouldn't be complaining if he was something I could get with a 70k elixir.
