This is a guide that I think people have wanted for a long time, but has been a little difficult to produce because there is a pretty big danger of the guide going out of date very quickly. To try and avoid that I tried to focus on weapons that restock or at the very least there is a very large stockpile of them on the shop search. I also tried to pick weapons that stack as much as possible. You will notice there are a lot of fire icons being thrown around here.

Tier 1 Base set

Alternates [Item=Fire Blade]

Just buy the Phoneix quill now. Its universally used from now till capping. If you can't afford it it's not the end of the world since for a completely untrained pet, its actually not the best healer, but over time it quickly outpaces the others. I picked PT over the Malticorn Love Wand because it stacked, even though it does heal for 1 less HP. If you are struggling, you could try picking up the malticorn love wand. The bottled fire is a 15 icon bomb that only does fire, and stacks well, and you can equip multiples. Bombs are usually pretty niche, but there are not a lot of healers, freezers, or stealers to use in T1, so you can had in a burst of damage. Wyllop Shield + Fire Blade are for Eclipse since you can not heal against him. Dark Matter Sai was included in case you want to try and take on Tide as a Tier 1, which might be possible later on in tier 1. Tide has a scroll that blocks all fire, which would be problematic for the rest of the set.

Tier 2

Alternatives

In tier 2 the number of healing options explodes, additionally, most of these weapons start to have mod slots available. Put the best crystal you have available, but you could also consider the Marquise line of crystals since they are not insanely expensive. BHB is now available to turn one of your opponent's weapons into a Cube that is single-use and does 13 icons. I don't think its particularly useful in tier 2, but is something to consider down the line. Although, even in later tiers its usefulness is debatable.

Tier 3 [Item=Icy freezing rod of doom][Item=Stinging Gauntlet]

Alternates

Explanation In Tier 3 we gain access to Shrines and reliable Freezing. This is the setup I use for battles that I would expect to take at least 3-5 turns, where it is beneficial to set up the shrine, which one turn 1 gives you almost no benefit, but over the course of several turns gives you a very large benefit. It's usually good to freeze on a turn you set up so you can either catch up on healing in the freeze turn if needed or do additional set up moves. Upgrade your healers as you go and have the budget for it. A Cheap 90%+ Stealer is now available in the KT ring. I'm not aware of any challengers that this is particularly useful for at this tier, but it can be fun to play with. Rreign Mace of Malice is also an extremely cheap healer that heals for the same amount as the Juicer. Purely from a budget standpoint, the RMoM is the cheaper pick up. The fact that the Juicer and stinging gauntlet only do a combined 3 icon types I think makes it worth spending the extra 70-80K to get the juicer if your doing a lot of battling

Tier 4 [Item=Gorgun][Item=Stinging Gauntlet]

Alternates

Explanation No new game-changing mechanics here, just making sequential upgrades to your previous weapons. Unfortunately, there really isn't a budget upgrade for Stinging gauntlets in Tier 4. The cheapest thing available is the Dark Matter Staff at 7mil+.

I have been using the Sparkling Quill, which is tier 3, also 100HP heal and quite cheap. Might be a better option than Jewel Encrusted Quill for that tier.

I've been battling and just realized that my battle pet is now tier 4 and I'm still using a tier 3 set, so this is quite helpful, thank you.

Aside from the expensive scalers people with multiple battle pets have (like trident), is nice for T4 since it has the chance to freeze and steal. It was super inflated though, I’m not sure if that’s still the case.

There’s also for T3 that does 7 earth, 5-7 wind and 7 water. is T3, heals 100 HP and does 10 physical.

And weapons at T3 that I only recommend using to beat the forj because they do a lot of water damage and they are cheap

Rreign Mace of Malice Healer Tier: 3 Is an extremely cheap Tier 3 that could be added. Market floods with these each Fireside since it's challenger loot. Bit more heal but less attack than the Stinging Gauntlet. Great for people that want to spend as little as possible to battle with small pets.

thanks for the heads up. It counts as a healer so it would be more competing for the Juicer slot than the gauntlet, but it probably is cheaper than the gauntlet by enough that its worth mentioning. (although the synergy between stacking icons I think still makes the Juicer better, I'll throw it in as an alternative.)

I'm freshly up to T2 (beginner battler!) and using the set recommended here (save for the bronze quill and phoenix quill, which i swapped with bottled fire and the blackmoon hand blaster - and some scrolls). Unfortunately, while the quills are good healing they are single use, and I don't manage to chip enough HP off of my enemies before I run out of items to hit them with.

Am I just too low level still for most enemies? I took on the muffin man bc the battle quest threw him at me, maybe I need to start lower? Or are there any other somewhat affordable weapons (100-200k range?) that do more damage and/or have multiple uses?

Battling's been fun but I am not very good at it, clearly x)

Edit: linking my battle pet :)

Welcome to battling! I have a list here of who you should be able to beat at each tier. Since you're freshly into T2 you may still struggle with those opponents for a bit. Being able to use new weapons is a big help, but sometimes your stats still need to catch up :P The T1 opponents should be easy though.

Oh thank you, I'll look through that list! I definitely beat some of the guys on the T1 list, but not everyone yet, so I will try mowing through those first to get my XP up a little. I haven't quite figured out how to grind efficiently yet and who's worth battling repeatedly %) And ty for the weapon!!

The best EXP gains are from beating each challenger 10 times. After that you only earn a small amount for each win. But you can earn amulets and tomes from beating them many more times. If you click on any of the challengers in that guide I linked, you can find the number of wins needed under the Loot spoilers. For easy challengers you typically need multiples of 50 wins (50, 100, 150, etc). As the challenger difficulty gets higher, you need fewer wins, which makes grinding easy challengers kind of a slog in comparison.

They are currently revamping all the weapons, so this guide might be getting a bit out of date, especially for T3-4 (they haven't done T1-2 yet). And while we have been testing things, I've started to somewhat come to the conclusion that this entire guide might not have really been that good to begin with (although I'm the first person to correct myself in the 4.5 years this has been up so I'm not too beat up about it :P).

I haven't tried this personally yet but try these 2 weapons:

Then Mod them each with a: And then only use the healers when you are low on health.

Then for a scroll use a:

You should be able to win one without shelling out 9mil for it.

Well, the tiers one weapons in this guide already helped me quite a bit, so I guess it's pretty okay for flailing beginners ;) It's nice bc it gave me somewhere to start that isn't "whatever weapons i found from randomly looting around".

Thank you for the recommendations, I got those weapons and I'm gonna try them out soon! For the scroll I gotta go beat up the respective challengers. 200 wins feels like an absolutely mind-numbing level of grind tbh, we'll see if I manage. I've been using this one so far and if nothing else the healing from it is nice:

did you get a chance to try those weapons out? I'm curious if they ended up being helpful.

I did! They're an improvement over the previous set, for sure :) I still get my ass kicked a lot, but I had managed to beat the muffin man and at least put a dent in some others. I get one shot by mephisto and a few others though, so I think I need to get my defense up before I try again hahah
