I'm curious to find out how many other people share the same feelings as me when it comes to driving. My top 5 pet peeves (or things that piss me off) when it comes to driving are as follows:
I ❤ having my characters drawn! Draw them for me?
Going to second the OP and also add;
People not using their turn signal at all. Like just....slowing down for seemingly no reason and then turning.
People driving well below the speed limit in good weather, especially on one lane/no passing roads. The speed limit is 45 you asshats, going 35 on a clear day with no rain, snow or ice on the road is not necessary!
When there's clear signs that a multi lane road is going down a lane/down to one lane but people stay in the lane that's going to close until the last minute and then try to get over. Worse when they honk because other people think they're jerks too and no one will let them in.
People who honk when you're not turning because the road looks clear to them but they are further back/their car is lower than yours so they can't see that the road isn't clear.
People who clearly don't pay attention to signs, especially the no turn on red. Or deciding to honk at someone who is waiting when there's a no turn on red sign instead of turning even if the road is clear.
Omg I totally forgot about your number 3! I have a spot that i go down on my way to work each day where people pull that crap. I mean come on, you guys know it's going to become one lane.
I sometimes will just drive over the two lanes when it's only a little bit left before it merges completely and try and keep those other drivers in line. Like seriously, i had to wait, so why shouldn't you?
I ❤ having my characters drawn! Draw them for me?
My mom does that and so do I if I can get away with it. People get right up on my tail and honk and shit but it's like....there's usually less than 1/2 or 1/4 mile before it becomes one lane at that point, I'm not going to let you rush ahead and try to cut in at the last second because you're an impatient jerk. Slow your butt down, turn on your blinker, and wait for someone to let you in. Which really should have been done a mile ago when the first signs popped up that the lane was going to be closing.
Exactly!
Another thing that boils my blood is when cops use their lights and sirens to either go up the side of the road on a highway when the traffic is at a standstill or get through a light and then turn it off right after they get through. I mean you know they weren't using it for an actual emergency. They just didn't feel like waiting.

It is actually one of those things where you are supposed to wait until the very last bits of that lane that's ending/closing to get over. It's called a zipper merge, and very seldomly will you see a city/area/etc. that knows how to use one properly (it actually makes things way smoother), but I totally get your frustration when it seems like assholes are flying up that lane and cutting everyone off haha!
I have a friend who bitched that she got a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a red light before doing a right on red. Like, yeah, you kind of did break a rule there, friend. But what do I know? I've had my license since I was 23.

Your is also a thing I forgot about but just hecking yes, turn your lights on people.
Also that's not what I was taught in driving school. They taught us to merge over as soon as we see the first signs that a lane is going to close. But I wouldn't be surprised if, like you said, they don't know how to implement it properly. Same with a roundabout that no one seems to know how to use :/
Yeah, I don't remember being taught it either tbh, but after hearing about it from other people, and looking it up and I was like 'well, that would make things easier...' Also omg, I forgot about roundabouts. Jesus those things are a clusterfuck haha! We have a huge one in the neighbourhood beside mine and thankfully most days it's okay, but I have seen a lot of people who have absolutely no idea what they're doing in them.
I forgot about 4! I love people that refuse to pull into the intersection on a solid green and then sit the whole light through and not go at all...
It's also really strange because they seem to be putting in more and more of them and just not teaching people how to use them so everyone is just really confused about it. They replaced a major traffic light near my old place with a roundabout and all it did was back traffic up for miles in every direction come rush hour and cause a lot of accidents because the roundabout would get full and backed up and people would try to squeeze in where they could. My mom and I would always just cut through another subdivision or go down a street to where there was an actual light to avoid it because the whole thing was just a mess.
They do it all the time around here and it drives me insane.

Yep people not having their headlights on when its raining. It's actually law in my state too lol.
And this is more situational because of where I live but I'll try to explain it
There's a bridge over a highway and right after the bridge there are two lanes to get on the highway and one to keep going. If you keep going my house is not too far away. So of course I keep on the straight while a lot of people go to stop in the two lanes and wait for the light to tell them they can turn on the highway.
However, it seems like a lot of people don't understand what those lanes are for. For some reason. They'll slow down and stop there before suddenly whipping out of their lane into my straight because panicky "oh no I don't want to get on the highway so I'll just do what I want and cut people off without any signal or warning"
It's extremely dangerous especially if the conditions are icy because like I said, bridge right before that part and bridge ices before the road.
I’ve never driven a roundabout but I’m from So-Cal and have yet to come across one to actually drive in though. I know the general rules, kind of.
People complain about how So-Cal people don’t know how to drive in the rain and, honestly it’s pretty true. I’ve seen people on the highways that actually drive faster, instead of slower in rain, like going 80-90 when it's pouring outside, and then people wonder why there’s so many accidents on the highways when it rains. Like double the amount than usual.
They can be really efficient when used right, but because a lot of people aren't taught how to drive in them it just becomes a mess. There are usually signs telling you which lanes you need to be in for which exits, but that doesn't stop people from literally coming to a full stop in said circle because they fucked up, or people changing lanes in the circle which is a huge-ass no.
Also I have heard of the Californians and their rain driving hahaha! Kind of reminds me of my city and snow... which we get every year for multiple months and yet people still freak out.
Let's see my current list is:
Those insanely bright lights! Like thanks I can see into next week now. Usually I end up having to cover the glare and drive one handed until they get from behind me.
People who don't know how to merge at all! Main traffic can't always move to the next lane but people act like they can magically make room. Merging is a two part thing mostly people determine where room can be made and fitting it.
Lack of turn signals. Maybe blinker fluid is expensive? Seriously though these fancy lights indicate the next move and alerts others to be watching to slow down.
Lack of properly slowing down for a turn/stop. Seriously this gets me because doing this implies HEAVY trust in the drivers behind you being alert AND having good equipment. Its better to stop early and crawl forward vs an accident.
When someone turns from a NON turn lane. Again so easy to create accidents from this. Like if you NEED to turn and got stuck in a regular lane just to another parking lit and approach from the other side.
When there's room for turning from BOTH sides of traffic but act like theres only one lane to turn on. I've surprised people by -gasp- turning and then changing my lane rather than act loke the lane I wanted was the only one.
Tossing out any trash from a window. Like seriously you have nothing to contain your trash inside the car? Or can't wait to toss it at home or a gas station?
Not clearing the snow off the top of cars or truck beds. In my state its actually illegal to NOT attempt removal of snow from your vehicle. If the snow is still fluffy it can create a blind spot to drive behind them. If it has frozen enough it can become what's called an ice missle and those are scary. There's loads of videos of these ice sheets flying off cars and DESTROYING cars behind them.
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
My biggest pet peeve is when the person in front of you is turning (like onto a side road or into a driveway or something) and they turn SLOOOOOWLY so the ass end of their car is hanging out in traffic way longer than necessary. It's dangerous.
Another pet peeve is when someone is tailgating you in the traveling lane (aka the right lane), and there are no other cars around and they can totally pass you if they wanted to. They just...choose to fucking tailgate instead. Like...if you don't like my slower speed then LEAVE.
I unfortunately live in a city where people drive in ways that defy logic, accidents are a regular occurence, and insurance costs are dear.
Just yesterday we were driving along around 5:15 in the morning, when rush hour hasn't started yet and there aren't a lot of people on the road. On a major road with five lanes (two going either direction and a middle lane only for turning) we were going along when suddenly streaking past us in the middle lane came another car. It kept this up for over a mile, including through a major intersection, only leaving the middle lane when a median prevented it from going further, but not slowing down. We couldn't figure out what the driver was thinking, but that is just a prime example of the stupidity of drivers in my area.
My top 5 driving peeves are: [ol]
Thanks for the chance to commiserate!
Another for the list. Improper turns. Not just lacking signals or from the wrong lane. Rather those where IF a car was there it'd be hit and the front end would be seriously damages. Just because a car isn't there doesn't mean the corner can be taken extra close.
