How long do the vial strains take to complete? I know if you drink a vial you go right into stage 1 and they appear to only have 4 stages. So it should take less than a normal strain in terms of time right? I was hoping to maybe get 2 strains done before survival ends so I was wondering if doing a vial and then a normal strain would be possible, depending on how quick the vial is?
As long as you can get the bites in by the end of Friday for your non-vial strain, I think you should be able to. I don't know exactly how long they take, but there are 5 days + the rest of today left of Survival, and I think that should be plenty of time. As long as you're able to get your last strain started before it ends, it'll progress like normal after the holiday
that's what i was hoping...that even if the 3 stages take 24hours each, I'll have time for a new one... but since everything seems to be taking longer I was hoping that someone who has had a vial strain this year could confirm so I'm not paranoid XD
Unfortunately, I haven't done any vial strains, but I can tell you I'm currently stage 2 of my 4th strain for this year, so that works out to like 5-ish days per strain on average so far? One of those was a six-stage one from 2010, one from this year, and one older one that I finished so far. So I still think you should have time :)
Yes, the vials take less time. Stages take (approximately) 13.5 - 16.5 hours to complete. I've been averaging about 15 hours per stage. The vials take about two days...ish.
So what you'll want to do is estimate how much time is left in Survival, how many stages total you'll need to wait out, at least a little bit of time to get bit to jumpstart stage 1, and then see what you can do.
The best part is if you are infected by the time survival ends, those stages will continue progressing after Survival. So you'll definitely be able to snag a virus and a vial if you take the vial first (you might be getting close to running past friday with an 8 stager if it goes really long).
