trailer for who hasn't seen it yet!!
BOY DO I HAVE OPINIONS™ ON THIS LMAO
i don't wanna get my hopes up bc pokemon has been consistently disappointing me since x/y but it looks good i love the aesthetic so here's hoping it is actually good q v q the starters look pretty bad imo but the bunny which is going to turn out fire/fighting called it is kinda cute so i'll go for that probably (if i even get the game bc i'm thinking of waiting for reviews before buying it this time around)
if the only way to transfer pokemon is through the fucking paid pokemon box thing i'm already giving it a -5/10 tho ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
also can i add tho both characters are hella cute esp the girl?? what a good outfit i love it
probably wont buy it until i see the complete pokedex, i dont like the starters except for the water one uwu
plus, kinda tired of pokemon lowkey? i love having so many pokemon friends to take care of, but... well, i dont like not being able to walk with them on the overworld :') (heartgold/soulsilver best games fight me)
the games look very pretty though, i'll give them that. just hoping the pokemon follow suit ;P
pokemon owns my soul so i’m going to preorder it as soon as it becomes available too. tbh i think the starters look absolutely adorable!! i’ve wanted a uk region for years so i’m excited for that!
going to go shield + scorbunny (-:
sun/moon + their sequels were. extreme disappointments so i really hope that sword/shield will make up for their last gen games.
I am very curious to see what directions they take with this new entry. I stopped playing after Sun and Moon, didn't care about UM/US and didn't care for Let's Go. (I loved the graphics and other people playing but it wasn't for me.)
I don't own a Switch but if these games look promising I might consider getting one.
I have no money to get it (or the switch haha) That's it ;__;
I like the starters and I will for sure grab one of the games, not sure which one though yet...
I COULDN'T AGREE MORE I think the games look fantastic and I love all three of the starters. I don't even know which one I like best right now.. I suppose I'll reserve judgement for their final forms. I can't wait to see the rest of the new Pokedex.
I love the industrial London theme - it's vaguely steampunk and I'm all about it. The lore from the official site mentions that people and Pokemon work together to build the industry of the region which really appeals to me. Adventures and epic quests are great and all, but I'm always excited to see more of what everyday life is like in the Pokemon world and how their presence influences life.
I'm loving the grass starter, but I'm gonna reserve judgment until I see the evolutions. The monkey like pokemon always end up disappointing me.
I don't like the starters....which is sad because I usually like at least 1 or 2 of them :( I don't really like their designs and the names are horrible in my opinion...I'll have to see final evolution's for final judgment....
I realize what I'm about to say is going to make no sense probably, but I feel like the starters don't look very...Pokemon-y?? IDK something seems off about them. Also, I really don't like their names lol. That being said, I really like Sobble! Not its name, but I do really like lizards.
I still plan on getting it though!! I'm excited for a new Pokemon game, especially because it's on the Switch!! I like having the option to play a Pokemon game handheld or as a console. The game looks absolutely stunning. One thing I'm going to miss thanks to being spoiled by Let's Go is the overworld Pokemon. I totally get why that feature isn't included in the game though and it's not a deal breaker. The past few Pokemon games have struggled to keep my attention though, so I'm hoping that Sword and Shield will get me out of that funk!
Ultimately which version of the game and starter I end up choosing are going to depend on version exclusive Pokemon and the final evolutions of the starter Pokemon. My gut is going towards Sobble, but who knows maybe I'll prefer Grookey after they release their final evolutions.
I've been playing Pokemon since Yellow Version and I'm just as excited for Sword and Shield as I've been for every other game in the past! (Freaking LOVED Gen 7, but the Alola region is massively my aesthetic, so I'm probably biased lol)
I'm honestly not too impressed with the starters just yet but I tend to try to withhold judgement until I've seen the full evo lines! My first opinions though, were that Sobble is cute, Grookey is cute too, but Scorbunny? Looks like it hopped straight out of a Sonic the Hedgehog game to me. I don't like it one bit, but I am hopeful that its evolutions will change my mind. As it currently stands, I could go Team Sobble or Team Grookey.
THE GRAPHICS ARE FREAKING GORGEOUS?????? The world is so high def!! I'm really excited to see the new region too. I just hope they don't take away trainer customization, it's one of my favorite features and I will be livid if they remove it after spoiling me in XY/USUM. QAQ I'm also hoping that the map isn't as.... linear as it actually appears? Not that I mind, but at first glance, the region doesn't look very big simply due to its shape.
ALSO I'm dying to see what the legendaries are??? You can see something like a wolf shape on the Sword and Shield emblems, so I'm guessing something wolf-themed? It's also worth pointing out that this is the region that Meltan technically comes from, so it will be nice to see its place of origin and how it works with the region's theme. xD
I have ALL the thoughts!
The last few pkmn games have left me somewhat hollow too? Not really wanting to go back and replay them over and over is a bummer. I'm not even sure I can put my finger on it precisely. They're just not captivating me like previous ones. For me, that's really disappointing, and it's getting worse. :(
I prefer gameplay to be less flashy, less animation-heavy in battles. (Then again, maybe I'm a crazy person. I have always preferred classical, pixel-oriented graphics.) I enjoyed Alola as a setting, navigating the islands and the trials, but everything was incredibly easy overall. It all felt intentionally oriented toward a slightly young audience too which I cannot appreciate in any way that doesn't make me feel really, really bad. qwq' Not sure if that was just me though or others felt it as well.
I felt that way when I first saw the starters. For me, at least, it was mostly the trailer. They looked SO shiny, round, and computer-generated which made me cringe. The fire-starter seems from another franchise. Thankfully that part of the trailer is NOT game footage and the actual artwork of them made me feel a little more at-ease. Have you seen those? They're growing on me. I actually see a lot of features of other pokemon in them now that I didn't initially. Regardless, I agree: the names are just plain not good.
All I'm asking is that Scorbunny not evolve as another fire/fighting combo. Srsly. Also, being incredibly rude here: Sobble looks amazing + adorable. I hope it doesn't evolve into ugly grotesqueness. . =0w0;= And if Grookey doesn't evolve as a flying monkey in some way, I am going to be upset. IDEK why, but I saw it and decided that is what I want from it, and I am not currently willing to accept any less. xD
Trainer/clothing customization has been one of my fav newer features too, . I'm worried they've scrapped that since they didn't show anything like that in the trailer? Fingers crossed for customization returning. I LOVED the character diversity in Gen7. ;n;
Anyway, I don't know why, but I'm not hyped yet about wolf legendaries. I mean. The concept is totally fine. I just want to see them. I don't want to be disappointed. NO HYPE FROM ME.
The overall aesthetic appears: mixed UK/Euro vibe + industrialization/steam/coal/gears + we are to forge a new path in sword and shield. I like all of that. The wolf heads on the logos are very clearly -- to me, at least -- rampant-style art depictions? Like that which you would find on a coat of arms or house/family insignia. Seems more thematic if it's actually regarding a heraldry concept, not just two near-identical wolf legendaries, though I am in no way excluding the possibility it is both and this was intentional. Or maybe it's just depicting one legendary in two different ways. Because it is pretty undeniable they appear to be heads of wolves but they look the same. Just my thoughts?
I'm super stoked for Sword/Shield! I actually really like all the starters (though I'll have to see their final evolutions to make a sound decision on which one I'm going to use first). Like said, Pokemon owns my soul, so I'll definitely be picking one of the games up. I always like to see what the legendaries and version exclusives are before I decide which one to get.
I'm also just excited to see Pokemon outside of Kanto on the Switch - not that I don't love Kanto, but jfc enough.
I also really hope they bring back trainer customization, I loved being able to play around with my character's appearance in X/Y/Sun/Moon, and was really disappointed when I couldn't beyond clothing in Let's Go.
I'm excited but also have mixed feelings? ill probably wait until it comes out and there's gameplay on YT i can watch to determine if I'm really into it. The graphics are beautiful but I'm not sure how i feel about the new starters as they all look kind of similar i shape and such. It kind of seems a of late that they aren't as creative when making new pokemon as they used to be? But im still excited for it! i'm currently playing lets go pikachu and its super cute and i love it so I'm also hoping they implement a pokemon go feature as well in the new one.
I don’t know which version. I want yet but I do want grookey

I don't have a switch either at the moment. I also like Sobble. Maybe I'll get one on sale? And if that happens, I'll get Sword. The Shield legendary seems too similar to Solgaleo....
Well now some more news has come out... and people are PEEVED. Apparently only certain Pokemon will be able to be transferred to Sword and Shield from Pokemon Home. The fanbase is up in FLAMES and TORCHES over this, and I completely understand why.

yeah lmao i saw that 😂
like........ not to be a negative nancy™ but the more i see of this the less interested i am :v dynamax looks uninspired, the graphics and world don't look exactly mind blowing, and i'm just........ tired of gamefreak's style? the past few games have honestly given me the impression they're just putting in the least amount of effort lmao
breath of the wild and mario odyssey were innovative and unique and idk man i just wish pokemon could get something revolutionary like that too instead of the same game we've been getting for the past 25 years q v q
I wonder how Dynamax will be involved with the story. Mega Evolution had a great tie-in to Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's story.
That being said, yeah there are Youtubers saying the same thing. GameFreak is not putting in as much effort.
I like the wild area though, with certain Pokemon such as Machop walking toward you if they see you. Frankly, if one of those Pokemon came towards me I'd feed it Poketreats and try to pet it. I wouldn't want to go straight into battling it. That's what typically happened in the anime, right?

Freaking hell. Can we get a fire starter that ISN'T a fire-fighting?? Or LOOKS like it should be -side eyes sun/moon- Yeah I'm talking to you stupid fire punch cat. They had a golden opportunity to not fuck it up and they settled on a freaking wrestler design... I wonder if the art director is OK. Although I am intrigued by the open world look for sword n shield. At this point I just anticipate them letting me down. :C I do think the sheep and corgi are cute at least ;n;
