So, I don't know how this goes on Subeta... On other pet sites, Neopets especially, I tend to price items I sell in the shop at least a little cheaper than it is on the shop search. That's typically how I sell things relatively quickly in the shops, and everyone else on the site does it as well. But I noticed that on Subeta, everyone sells their items at the same price as one another.... Is this a side effect of the autopricer function, or is it looked down upon to price it much lower? I know on sites like Neopets, the economy can be quite a mess so I'm wondering if people keep the prices the same to keep the economy stable. Or if there's any other particular reason for it.

You can price things however you like, so don't worry about adhering to any unspoken social 'rules'. x) It's definitely a side effect of the autopricer. We're all lazy here. xD

I suppose there are /occasionally/ a couple of threads in bragging and complaining complaining about undercutters, but imo most people view those threads as whining and they're certainly not complaining about people pricing things just a little cheaper. :P And I haven't even seen one in ages.

Okay, I almost though there might have been an etiquette reason behind the prices, haha. Thanks for the info!

Though do pay attention to item rarity vs the prices. Sometime another user will buy all the "cheap" ones of something to artificially inflate the cost of an item. So when you go to auto price it seems like you might make a good deal of sp from that item but reality is others catch on and let the item sit rather than buy it.

within the last year, the fansite SubetaLodge has been keeping track of user prices. If you want to see if what has said is true, then you can click on the price of their own item box and see a price trend chart, something JellyNeo does not do.

The economy of Neopets isn't exactly fucked up. It works that way deliberately.

Here on Subeta the market is not hidden to the average user. The cheapest prices you see are the cheapest prices. Even if you don't autoprice you can see a pretty good guess at what the lowest autoprice is because many users here do autoprice.

Here on Subeta your easiest source of income will be questing. Restocking here is pretty easy compared to Neopets. Unlike questing you can do it all day if you like. But IMO as someone here who finds it amusing to be a merchant/restocker, dropping the price by one point won't sell your item all that quickly because autopricers will quickly drown you out. The only way to compete that way is to reprice your items by hand multiple times a day. Totally not worth it. You need to drop the price by enough that users can tell that there's a serious bargain if you are after a quicksale.

Here's the thing: the Neopets economy is meant to be stagnant. But here on Subeta the prices of things go up and down. If you are not after a quicksale, you can match the autopricers and if the price the autopricers are charging is a reasonable one (not always true) your item will eventually sell. How patient you need to be is dependent on how full your shops are and here on Subeta there's an absolute shopsize limit.
