I tried to ping my forum group on my selling thread (35% off Wears and Misc) first by editing my original post shortly after I made it (which usually works) then again today by making a new post. Neither time worked; I would know since I would also get an event.

I know I can ping groups on the Giveaway threads, so is this something that is exclusive to the main Advertising forum? If so then it should probably be added to the rules just as a PSA. If not, then I guess it's just a forum bug, but I know that the group pings are working since I used it earlier today (albeit in the group forum).

Anyone know anything about this? Experience something similar? Any mods know the answer?

Group pings haven't worked in the main advertising forum or in wanted since I first joined, except for a short time that was probably? when the new forums were introduced. It's deliberate, but I can't remember staff ever really commenting on it.

I imagine it's to stop people randomly pinging groups to their sales threads (probably related to the Do Not Send Advertisements rule), but it's not hard to think of ways to discourage that. Just let people report overuse of group pinging and warn people for it. x)

Most of the advertising groups I've been a part of have pinged the group separately in another forum with a link to their selling thread, or have manually pinged everyone in the group to their selling thread.

No worries. ^^ It surprises a lot of people when they attempt to ping a group in advertising and find it doesn't work. I'm surprised it's not mentioned in the site rules/faq/advertising forum rules.

That's what I thought as well. The first thing I did was check the advertising forum rules to see if the answer was there. , do you think you could or would mention adding it?
