Hey guys - I've been on subeta going on a decade, but I really have never been super interested in pet training. As such, I never really bothered to learn the ins and outs of the training system. I was hoping someone might be able to give me advice on how to most efficiently train INT - I know it's not something Jim can do, but reading to them isn't seeming to be working with the speed I was hoping it would. What do you do?

Theres not really many options, its either read to them or use intel boosters (expensive). Most people read to pets until books cost upwards of 1mil and then use boosters afterwards, since thats about how much each intel point costs w boosters.

Theres mystic spindles but it gives a piddly amount so its not really worth talking about.

that's what I was worried about, lol. I want to get my pets promotions at their jobs but it's not exactly cost effective to read them that many books. is there any sort of metric on how many books get a point, or is it totally random?

books are mostly it. I use a checklist at Subetalodge to make it faster and easier to find books my pet hasn’t read yet. If intellect is your goal you will want to switch from books to boosters when books start costing around 800k-1million.

Common intellect boosters: 1 int 1 int, 1 health 1-3 int.

The tomes you get from turning in amulets to the Mage can also give intellect in addition to other stats.

There are other booster around, but these are the easiest to get. Keep in mind that books are limited- there’s only around 2440 on site.

Almost every book gives 1 intellect. There’s one that will give you 5 (I think it’s called Package of Books). There’s no randomness. If you mean alchemy points, it’s 1AP for every 16 intellect.

If you participate a lot in the site events, its possible to get a lot of currency books and read those to your pets, I always find I have a lot of steamwork trinkets, for example. Also, you can sit in the book store and RS books and read them to your pets, those are pretty cheap. It gets more expensive as you read more, but if your only goal is jobs related things, I definitely would avoid boosters and just work on the books.
