You can use any item, you don't have to own them! Question: In your opinion, do you prefer to use only items you own or do you like using any item?

Deadline is: by noon on Friday January 11th. May extend it if need be.

Edited: Prizes will be WL items! Or if you prefer to pick a Mirror Ball bg as a prize, that's fine too.

About the question, I do prefer use items I don't have in my wardrobe. Sometimes I make avvies and love them but I find that I don't have the items and then I have to start all over again lol. But, on the other hand, making avvies with the wearables you already have makes the challege more tricky and that's ok ;)

I'm obviously in the minority, but I prefer using my own items. Two main reasons, one is that its faster - I'm more familiar with my own stuff so I don't spend hours scrolling over items. Second is organization, I have my wardrobe divided into pretty, convenient drawers so I can limit my selection. Of course when I'm looking at all items, I'm often overwhelmed with so much choice and no way to just look at eyes, for example.

I like being able to use all items, it makes it a bit fairer, I think. That way you don't have to own a huge wardrobe to participate. Although no CW challenges can be fun.

I see both sides! I do love using all the items I'll never be able to get! But it is much harder to use the items I do have because I don't have much. I do agree that I like that contest will be more on design than limited to what you own. I had no idea you could do that! How do you do it? also, if a contest is unlimited items, there's no reason someone couldn't just work with their own items for their design, if that is what they like to do ^-^

Well take the head layer - sooooooo many wigs. I have all the wigs in a drawer and all the accessories in another drawer. That way I don't have to parse through a 1000 wigs to find that one flower I want to add to my head.

You can have up 50 drawers (which really isn't much if you consider there are 24 layers). The big thing is to figure out what drawers you would find most convenient. Back before skins were a thing and I was a zombie I had a cover-up drawer with all the different things I used to look human.

You go to organize items through the wardrobe. From there you can create drawers and put stuff in them. Its tedious to get it done, but I've been doing it way back since day one and my wardrobe was a lot smaller. To deal with 24K items now and put them all in drawers would be a killer! Then its a matter of keeping it up dated as new items get added.

There are as many ways to deal with drawers as there are people on site. Some examples of drawers: Eyes lips blush dresses pants Jewellery Items/equipment vehicles bags Body mods Favorites Lifelike dolls Animals

You could also divvie things up by source - Subeautique, holidays, cash shop, costume trunks. Or a million other ways. My biggest drawer is probably the wig drawer. My smallest only has 4 items (utility, like the snowball shield and the morostide anti-hex items).

Well, don't ask me why but I feel the need to make a HA with ghosts... a ghost party lol

I prefer it when you can use all items. Like said it just seems fairer because some people have seriously impressive wardrobes and others don't so it's a way to even that out. Plus like said if you can use all items on site, if you really want to stick with the stuff in your wardrobe you can still do that.

Answer: Usually I would prefer to use the items I already have because it is easier to find. However, it is impossible for you to know which items we have for a challenge, so I don't mind if I don't have the item posted in a challenge. However, please keep in mind that for me, I delete the image when the contest is over. So when you go over old posts, you won't be able to see the image.

I haven't had the chance to participate in any threads or do a contest in so long ^_^ I have to say, while I don't usual go beyond what I own in a contest I do love the option to do so, and I often find something I didn't own before

So I made this one purely with my own owned items because I wanted to wear it (these backgrounds are LIFE!), but when I’m entering for contests in general. I don’t normally like to limit myself to only my owned items— there are some things that I’ll never get but that I love to use regardless :)
