Looking to see if anyone else in the Subeta Community is an aquarist, I've been keeping fish for some time now and I'd like to share my passion with others! I have a 10 Gallon 4 way split Betta tank, and a 30 Gallon bow-front tank which I'm in the process of switching over to a new 60 Gallon tank! Quite excited to get that project underway, I'll explain more below. This post will be picture heavy, under the spoilers to keep things clean!

Let's start with my Betta tank, it's a 4 way split housing 4 male Bettas, with a 20 Gallon AquaClear filter 100W heater and bubblers in three compartments to make sure there's enough flow to keep it clean.

Betta Tank

Now I'll show you my boys!

Winchester He is a marble Betta, first image is when I first got him back in August, second image is him today!
Wicker He is a Paradise Betta.
Bullet He is a Platinum Silver Betta. He looks white in images, but he's a metallic silver. I love his colours!
Georgie He is a rescue, is supposed to be a Super Delta tail, like my other boys. But came to me with progressive fin rot, barely moved, wouldn't eat. After a month, he changed his looks and attitude SO much, he swims better, eats and his fins are coming back! First image is when I was able to stop his fin rot (he looked more like a Plakat Betta), the second image is him today! About a month's difference!

Now I'll share my 30 Gallon!

30G Bow-Front This tank houses mostly juveniles, which will be going into my 60G once set up. Adult sized, most will reach 5-7 inches. I'm running a 50G AquaClear and a 30G Sponge filter, with a 200W heater.

Here's what my 30 Gallon holds so far.

2 Jewel Cichlids

Long fin Albino Bristlenose Pleco
Hybrid This hybrid is bringing mixed reviews as to what it actually is Parrot x Flowerhorn, Parrot x Green Terror, or full Parrot. I'm not too sure, she's pretty docile, I can't wait to see what she will turn out to be!

As mentioned all my 30G babies are going into a new 60G home eventually, the tank itself is 4ft x 2ft x 1ft. I'll have a Fluval 406 canister filter and a 300W Fluval E Series heater.

Hope you enjoy the thread, if you too are a fish hobbyist, please share your babies!

I am trying to get my parents to say ok to setting up a tank in our house. Even though I'm a grown-ass adult, it's still their house, otherwise I'd have lots of things I don't have now, lol. I really want to learn how to properly grow plants in a tank instead of having plastic ones. I just really like the look of real plants, plus there's the oxygen benefits that are nice. But every time I've tried in the past, it just hasn't worked. They get all gooey and stinky and I have to get rid of them. I figure I will start with maybe a 15 gallon tank, just something small to get things going right and then I have a friend who raises cichlids who said he will give me a few once I get my tank.

I just lost my betta fish of around 5 years. His name was Paca. He was a blue/turquoise with a black face. Really a handsome boy. I raised him from a tiny fry that I got from a pet store. He was a crowntail, I believe. He was a little spoiled - in a 5 gallon tank with a good filter and rubber plants that wouldn't tear his fins.

I'm seriously into goldfish.

I have two goldfish tanks, one 160g and one 80g, and two ponds, one 450g and one 150g. My 450g pond holds most of my comets/shubunkins, I'm honestly not sure how many fish I've got in there now because they bred and not all of the eggs/fry got eaten when I left them. For the past 3 years I have raised fry from my fish but this year I've just been leaving them in the pond and they are still surviving out there. My small pond holds my fancies who I either have no room for in my tanks or who have little quirks that make them prefer the shallower water (The small pond is 12 inches deep, my tanks are 18 inches and 24 inches)

I don't have many photos on this computer and I can't be bothered going to get my harddrive right now lol but here are some of my pond fish.

Photos here
The Black Comet, Raven (first photo), was only about 3 maybe 4 inches when I got her. I pulled her out for a photo to show her size while cleaning the pond (Hence the bucket of dirty water below her lol). She is one of my all time favourites. Love her so much The Last one is one of the fish I raised from an egg, hasn't grown as much as I was hoping but I love his colouring.

I also have a small, 15g tropical tank with neon tetras and corydoras. I'd love to upgrade my tropical tank and expand that though.

I really love your bettas! Wicker is my favourite

yes hello let's hecking talk about fish babey!!

I got into the fishkeeping hobby while I was in college, initially only with bettas (because dorm rules wouldn't allow me to have anything else). I've had several and I love their fiery personalities - my favorite, Mr. Noodles, was a beautiful teal with red-tipped fins (RIP my darling). When I started working at PetSmart a couple of years ago, I began to learn about other types of fish, and my love for fishkeeping has only grown exponentially since then!

I don't have bettas anymore, but I have a 75 gallon tank that houses two African sideneck turtles, and a small African cichlid community.

Tank Photos! (Plus a bonus turtle or two)

I have discovered that I LOVE cichlids, particularly African cichlids, so I'll probably have way more tanks with them in the future. They're such nasty assholes, the head honcho of my tank is an auratus named Bisley and everyone else knows that they need to respect his space, or else, lol. Here's a list of what I have currently -

1 - Bisley, melanochromis auratus 2 - Julius, yellow labidochromis 3 - Leia, venustus 4 - Bisley's Other Wife - jewel 5 - Ludger - acei 6. Elle - kennyi 7. Milla - red zebra 8. Jude - red peacock

Then I have a standard plecostomus and a rainbow shark, both juveniles. I used to have some kind of rock cichlid named Bisley's Wife, but I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks so I'm thinking she may have become Turtle Dinner. The turtles usually leave the fish alone, but they're my clean-up crew in case someone, uh, is bullied too much. It was a little touchy for a while but the tank community is pretty stable now. Shoutout to my two Marineland canister filters for always keeping the water crystal clear. Seriously, keeping this tank clean is a dream come true, it's SO easy.

Your bettas are so cute aaa!! I LOVE Bullet especially, I love shimmery, silvery-white and red bettas. Every time I get them in at work I have the strongest urge to take one home. Be careful with your cichlids, - in my experience, jewels can be super aggressive and I'm not sure what they'll do with blue rams in a long-term scenario. (But then again they might be totally fine, fish be that way sometimes. ¯(ツ)/¯ ) Your jewels are SO pretty, though! Mine is definitely a female and kind of bland-looking, lmao. I wish I had room in my tank for more. ❤

Your goldfish are GORGEOUS! Seriously, goldfish are some of the sweetest, smartest fish out there. Your shubunkins have particularly lovely coloring. I'd love to have a 150g+ goldfish tank one day, but I need to buy a house first. I think my landlord would lose his mind if I brought any more tanks/animals home...

Ahh I love your tank it looks amazing! And your turtle is so cute

I really want a tropical tank of at least 40g but space is a bit of a restriction and I live with my parents, and my mum already says I'm turning the house into an aquarium rofl. But thankfully they are pretty easy going about my tanks.

Oh my! I'm so thrilled to see everyone in the hobby. Africans are such a love for me, I cannot wait to get my 60G up and running! I did some updates to my 60G and got some new fish e.e Very small so they will do in my 30G until my 60G is running I'm not overly worried yet!

Tank Updates! I got a background, put my Fluval in place and lined the bottom with plastic to protect the MDF of any water. And making some DIY hides! PVC pipes and sand with safe silicone, they will be buried into the sand for the fishies! Ahhhh everyone’s tanks are so nice! I miss my fish babies so much. I had to break mine down and sell all my plants/fish due to a long distance move. I can’t wait til we move into our permanent housing so I can start up another tank ❤

36g bowfront

All live plants and real wood log/branches. The inhabitants were:

Bloodfin tetras Panda corys Ghost shrimp Nerite snails

Cories <3 They had babies a couple times but only one grew into adulthood

The tetras were so much fun to watch!
