I've been complaining of pain in my right knee for about.... a year and a half now. I was supposed to have surgery done because it was either a cyst, or my bursa sac popped out or tore. I finally had the MRIs done.

It's not any of those. I tore my quad above my knee, 7mm. To be honest, I don't even know how I did it.

I was told not to bend down, kneel or squat.

So... I DID THE DUMB. I knelt down to get something and what escaped my mouth? A yell. I must've torn it some more because my knee is super swollen and I can feel warmth under the skin.

Here's the problem. I wasn't recommended anything.. not even a brace. I think I'll buy one with help of the pharmacist.

Also... the other problem is, my job requires me to bend, kneel and squat. My boss will just roll her eyes when I tell her why I can't do any of those. I work with stupid people... I already know haha.

Verify if you can have paid leave for a set amount of days (or week). These should be written somewhere at your job / someone must know of this.

As for your torn quad: apply ice compression, rest and elevation are the key. You could also use a brace to reduce painful moves (especially at work). It's also a good way to heal. Good luck and take care!

A brace is a very good idea. I'm hoping to get one soon, before this weekend if possible (last minute shoppers and I'm sure we'll be busy). If not... I'll have to wait until Thursday.

I used to do ice, but then I stopped.

I wonder if I'll have to get it surgically repaired since it's been almost 2 years of knee pain.

Don't stop ice compress? It's the only way to keep the inflammation down. You can also use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such a ibuprofen to keep the pain down. If you would like to know if getting a surgery will put everything in order, make an appointment with your doctor so you can see a surgeon. If you aren't satisfied, consult another one or simply require a prescription to see a doctor qualified in sports injuries or something similar.

I am seeing the specialist I see out of town at the end of January. He'll have the MRI images and the report, but I have the CD in case. I'm keeping that appointment.

I took some ibuprofen earlier and I'll ice my knee when I come back. There's no time to get a brace today. Why? My new fridge just arrived (thank God)!

Yeah, specialist is a good idea. Though if the pain is more than ibuprofen can take care of, I'd definitely try to see a doctor, perhaps at a walk-in or an urgent care. They might be able to help with something to tide over until you can see that specialist (or even just a doctor's note so your workmates don't gripe at you for faking it). Pain sucks.
