So I definitely want to get into casually battling to climb through the tiers. I haven't played in years and truly have no idea what I'm doing. I've read the guides over and over throughout the years so I get the very basics - I'm just not sure what to pick for me. I have the sp to invest - I just want to do it correctly and not based off my assumptions.

I know I have to buy more books and read, if anyone reading this has a ton of books for sale just drop me a line, honestly.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what weapons I need, what I can get rid of, and what is good to hold on to..etc. I'm also not so sure about scrolls, and really anything that's happened at ALL on Subeta in the past two years or so.. Any help would be super appreciated. (:

Dexterity Level: 190 Health: 487 / 487 Strength: 484 Defense: 490 Speed: 420 Intelligence: 302 AP: 18 Tier: 5 To Next Tier: 1881 / 2600

Scrolls: Cobalt Eternal -Cost: 8 AP Holy Deluge- Cost: 14 AP Fiery Death -Cost: 20 AP Fatal Fire- Cost: 10 AP Singed Stuffing- Cost: 7 AP Sonar Scream -Cost: 19 AP Triple Threat -Cost: 18 AP

I have no idea what if any modifications I have on the weapons and stuff like I remember we put in crystals but I don't remember doing anything with any rhyme or reason, so I'm not sure what I should be doing there and whatnot. -_-

First of all, welcome back! One thing of note is that we had the long awaited reset for the battle opponents, so anyone you had defeated previously a couple of years back can now be fought and beat from win 1 onward again to claim their loot and fresh EXP. All opponents can now be fought passed 10 wins, but now most drop small junk loot and a fraction of EXP, and at certain intervals related to their difficulty, you can get the new mod crystals, mage amulets, and even tomes. If you want to see who drops what, check the 1P Loot tracker thread.

If you want to see what to actually prepare for when facing opponents(icons/weapons they use, stats, do they enable or block healing/freezing/stealing etc), Comprehensive Guide To Battle Opponents is greatly helpful.

Previously, only Tear and Baguette mod crystals were available. Most of the previously unreleased mods can now be obtained through defeating opponents, which you can read more about here, Guide to Mod Crystals. You can also check what you've modded your weapons with here, https://subeta.net/games/battle/mod_weapons.php.

For a T5 pet, you should look at the recommended weapons by tier guide here, Weapon Set by Tier. Looking at what you have now, the only really good weapon is the Temple Shard. Do not under any circumstances sell that. The Grenade and maybe the Cuirass would be worth keeping around but you can't use the latter right now anyway.

You're going to want to invest in some freezing scrolls(Shriek of Despair, Psycho Smasher, Strong Stomp) once you have enough AP to support them, a lot of opponents new and old can be chain-frozen.

If you can at some point without blowing through all of your pure, see about picking up a Gift of the Forj for the icon block and 1500 heal.

Definitely keep your Holy Deluge, Triple Threat, and Sonar Scream scrolls, Holy Deluge in particular is a fine healer. Cobalt Eternal can serve for some okay blocking when it hits the 75 icon block. The other few aren't a great deal of use. You might see about an Aftershocks scroll at some point for the more relevant icons it uses and also blocks, but be aware it has only a 7% heal. Looks like they're down around 30 mil at the moment from 100 mil a few months ago.

I've got some rarer books I can sell you here, Royal Library of Alexandria, just let me know what you might be interested in. You should also use SubetaLodge's book search feature, it isn't always the most accurate for price but it can help you get caught up on the cheap books. If you're unsure what you've already read, the account search feature here will tell you if a book has been read to your pet, or you can go to the Pets page and click the drop-down menu to the right and slightly above their hunger to find the Books Read link for that specific pet.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the very confusing but wonderful world of battling! What are the overall goals for your pet? Beating certain challengers? Getting to certain stats? I would say the most essential piece to battling is having an end goal. That will dictate what weapons, scroll and pet build you go for. If you just want to go for casual battling, then you don't want to invest in the best of the best weapons and scrolls right away.

I put together a scroll guide here that gives you a feel for what end game scroll sets look like and what budget sets look like.

T5 has some some weapons that are large investments used for end game battling, but a majority of the weapons you will be replacing as you go up in tier. Depending on how long you plan on being in tier 5, it could be worth buying better weapons or just hold off until you reach higher tiers. What is your budget for battling?

Gorgun isn't the best freezer, but it's a very good one until Thestral can make an Intricate Energized Helmet, and the helmet can't be used until T9 anyway.

i'm going to leave the advice business to the wonderful people who've already posted, but i just wanted to poke my head in to say one of my boys is close to dexterity in stats (450s across the board with 39 AP) so i took him through battle quests -- these got him through level 15, and should help tide you over while you figure things out. the only thing you don't already have is the ultimaplus tag; i would just change that for your grenade and see how things go o: (and tbh, i used gorgun + recycle blaster for a long, long time... my main battler still uses the recycle blaster, because i'm too cheap to upgrade to a better blaster!)

oh sacred spork, smite mine enemies

That is actually a fair point, though I'd argue Deluxe Death Shard(T6) or Gatekeeper Collar of Slavery(T5)(bit too expensive in hindsight) would suffice prior to Intricate Energized Helmet at T9.

: The Scientists Specs are actually my fav freezer at Tier 8. Sometimes I prefer it over the helmet for the water block (and trust me more BQ opponents deal water than light, which apparently the helmet blocks (but don't quote me on that - I've been away for a year to actually remember anything well :P). It doesn't have the nice blessing but it also has 2 mod slots, which is nice for a budget freezer. I'm sure it can get a battler by nicely until they can make their own Helmet.

Seconding what maskros pointed out that in terms of useful and affordable freezers - gorgun until T8 for the scientist specs and then scientist spec until you can make the energized helmet.
