NATIONAL LUMINAIRE LIGHTS DAY

Time to deck the halls, folks, because December 1 is National Christmas Lights Day and Luminaire month starts! Before the invention of electric lights, families would balance candles on the branches of their Christmas trees. That was a risky practice that naturally led to several house fires. Electric Christmas lights were first invented in 1880 by Thomas Edison, who promptly strung them all over the outside of his Menlo Park laboratory. Because people were initially distrustful of electricity, however, it took another several decades for the invention to catch on. And it wasn’t until 1903, when General Electric began selling pre-assembled kits of Christmas lights, that electric lights became popular. Today, electric lights are an integral part of the winter holiday season, and certainly aren’t exclusive to Christmas! Let’s string up our lights and celebrate. ‘Tis the season, after all!

1. OKAY SO. I love Christmas lights and I wish I had the desire to put them up outside the house, but I'm SUCH A PERFECTIONIST that they would just drive me crazy (not to mention it's way too cold out there to do that junk now!). Here is as far as we get. I get the mantle, the tree, and a couple other places around the house. It's enough, and it makes me happy :)

1. Decorating: I don't put any lights up outside but I do put up several small trees, stockings, lights, snowmen, stuff like that inside. Very simple things.

Here's my 3 bigger trees. They're only 3 or 4 feet tall. I haven't finished putting up my other decorations yet. :-)

2. Favorite winter or Lumi song: Oh, how can I pick just one?! I have so many! I love the Traditional ones a lot! But I do love some of the newer ones too!

This is my unfinished fake tree HAHHA ;D anyways I usually never have a tree but my dad brought us a fake one he got on clearance and he got these big lights that change different colors! I still need decorations which I will get this week sometime so I will post another picture after it's done. I also didnt take a picture of the bottom part because it looks horrible right now ;P

my favorite song is frosty the snowman :D i do like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and mariah careys all i want for christmas is you (ps i just love every song) :D

I'm afraid I'm not big on the holiday decorating front. I own some Sailor Moon X'mas plushes but I don't actually celebrate Christmas. I do Chanukah, which starts this weekend and will be long over by the time that the Christian holiday rolls around. And New Year's.

But! This year I got an electric menorah to put in the window...because you're supposed to light it in the window, but I never do, on the grounds that G-d probably doesn't actually want me to set the curtains on fire, so I light it in the living room where it can be seen but not start a fire.

I haven't got a favourite holiday song, but I love the Counting Crows song "Long December" so I guess that counts.

I'm not a person with big budged for Christmas decorations

Ohhh I love christmas decorations! My family was never one to celebrate much, only my granny went full straw stars-real candles-burn the house down-decorating a real tree. Therefore, the smell of charred wood and burned pine needles brings back sweet childhood memories.

Now, my parents only put up a "bush" made of chopped pine branches with some fairy lights and I don't have a tree either ... but lots and lots of knick knacks in my flat, like a small toy train and trays of cookies and lights on the windows ... and of course a candle arch (because Germany).

If I had more budget and a non-messy household, I'd go for a complete decoration in silver and white, like this one:

My fav christmas song is "Joy To The World" because it is, well, joyfull but also festive. And also the "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy" from the Nutcracker Suite, and "Adeste Fideles" and so many more o.o

1. I love Christmas light but we haven't decorated for X-mas in a very long time. I love the warm glow on the lights against in the dark and the snow.

For my Lumi decoration at home, with 4 cats and the youngster only a year old, a tree is not an option, LOL. We´re having illuminated cones and reindeers and some bigger safe fabric angles and a Santa around, the reindeers outside. I decorated my practice, too, with a lighted fence and tree of life and some figurines for the kids and I put some bautiful crystal ice ornaments on my palm, LOL. I light a lot of candles in the afternoon and it´s always a cozy atmosphere in there, patients love it, too.
