Since it really, actually is my birthday today, I’ve thrown a bunch of items in the Donation Corner.
It’s something I’ve done for years, but I want to do something more this year, because it’s not even 9 AM, and this is already one of the strangest birthdays I’ve ever had. So I'm having a giveaway on top of it.
If you’d like to enter, just post the most unusual, out of the ordinary experience you’ve ever had on your birthday. The 3 people with the weirdest stories can each have their pick of any one non-CW item from This Shop.
You have until 11:59 PM Subeta Time tonight to post your story. I’ll pick and notify three winners after rollover/tomorrow morning.
Happy Birthday!!! My birthdays have been great, no unusual stories XDD GL to all entering!!!
Oh this does sound like fun.
I definitely had one. It recently came to my attention in October it was the 29th anniversary of the big earthquake in San Francisco - the one that people remember for the double decker bridge tragedy and it happened during the World Series that was going on there at the time. I was home when the world started shaking around me.
I hadn't remembered the exact date.... But I NEVER forgot that it was 1989. Why? Cuz my dad was on crutches for it. Why was he on crutches? welllllll He broke his femur in 6 places, basically shattered it, doing the hokey pokey on my 7th birthday. I shit you not. To his credit, we were dancing on roller skates. He is so tough he didn't scream or cry a lot and the paramedics told him "you didn't break anything, you'd be in more pain."
Well, nope. He even told the doctor to patch him up quick because he was supposed to get on a plan to his high school reunion the next day. Doc said "you ain't going nowhere." They put a metal rod in his leg (good thing too, new surgery technique at the time - alternative being full body cast, dad is hyperactive he would have died) which stayed in for a year. They told him he might never walk again but he wasn't having any of it. So dedicated to his physical therapy. And now the only signs it happened are the nice scar from surgery and his left leg is an inch shorter than his right. He wears a lift in his shoe to help.
Happy birthday! And that's so kind, thanks for the Donation Corner items <3 What has already happened that was so unusual?
Here is my story of my most unusual birthday. Now that I think about it it was a pretty eventful day!
My freshman year of college on my 19th birthday, I woke up to a lock down call from the school. There was a man with a rifle on campus and we were told to barricade our doors with anything available. My roommate and I slid our dressers in front of the door and waited for any other news. My parents, who live in a different time zone, were woken up at 2AM with these same alarming texts and were super worried as well. It was a pretty scary time.
After about an hour, we got an all clear. It was a false alarm (to everyone's relief). It turned out a bus driver thought a student had a rifle in his backpack, but it was the handle of his katana umbrella -_- Here is the source if this sounds too unbelievable haha. My bday is March 16!
What didn't make the news was that the kid in question turned out to be this dude my friends sometimes invited to go to parties but was a drug dealer and he had his door broken down and room raided by the police, where they found other contraband as well. He didn't end up getting expelled because the way they found the drugs was unlawful? Some strange loophole, his mom was a lawyer. My school was large so the odds that I knew the umbrella kid were very low. He probs shoulda been expelled tho.
ANYWAY I finally got on with my day and I was excited because I was going on a date with some guy, he didn't know it was my birthday and asked me out for lunch. When we met up he was shocked cause he saw on FB that it was my birthday and I hadn't told him haha! Anyway we got some random campus food, and it was overall a pretty good date. That birthday was the first date of me and my now 6+ year boyfriend and we're still together to this day!
Since my bday is the day before St Patties and it was a Friday, there were a few rowdy parties that night and the last eventful thing that happened was that my friend got too drunk and punched another dude in the face after some words were exchanged. My other friends and I had to restrain our belligerent friend and drag him off somewhere else.
What a day!
I've never really had any odd things just once i forgot it was my birthday! So i was surprised when my parents gave cake

Happy Birthday!!
So strangest thing. My husband and I had just gotten together. We both really love beer. So for our birthdays, his is 3 days before mine, I thought it would be a cool idea to go to a brewery. They have lots of multi-brews at this. So we had never done this before but I put in the address for the location and started following my GPS. Well we started driving into a VERY shady looking part of town. Barbed wire fences everywhere, chains, whole area really looked deserted and broken down. On the final turn there was the brewery amidst all the weirdness. It was a lovely brewery and lots of people showed up but getting there was a little frightening and strange.

happy birthday! thanks for the giveaway and for the donation corner goodies
well, my story isn't that weird, but unusual in a sense that this year i did something special for my birthday (instead of treating it like the usual non-event). it was my 30th and i went overseas for the first time. i had a birthday medieval banquet (albeit the night after my actual birthday but we were restricted with booking times) at a proper castle outside Limerick in Ireland and it was fantastic. honestly one of the best nights i've ever had. 4 course meal which was delicious, and the entertainers were so great, all dressed the part, and treated us all like lords and ladies.

Happy Birthday! I hope your birthday has been strange in good ways wink
I don't really have any 'strange' birthday stories... IDK maybe this is strange: This year literally no one remember my birthday, none of my friends, not my dad, not my mom, not even me - so it was a bit weird a few days later when I realized I'd missed my own birthday lol
got drunk and in a fight with a friend so i started walking home i woke up in in a cemetery with my friend standing there trying to pick me up outta the snow cause my bday is jan 11th
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ~! <3
The weirdest thing that happened to me was on my 21st birthday, and it was mainly my fault, BUT. My boyfriend and I thought it would be fun to go to Medieval Times, and take an edible before the show. I, of course, having no idea how portion sizes for those things work, said we should each take the full 75 mg dose. Needless to say, it was the most insane show I've ever seen, I ate none of the food, we probably looked like zombies, AND we both ended up throwing up in the parking lot afterwards. Definitely learned my lesson. Happy Birthday me!
Happy Birthday!!!
My birthday is New Years day ... one year my roommate had planned a surprise party for me and the group of friends she had invited partied a little too much the night before. Most of the group were too hungover to show, a couple ended up in jail and apparently a few others were just MIA. LOL Needless to say when I arrived the house was decorated, tons of food and drink and no one there but my roommate and myself. We still laugh about it to this day. :D
Hope you birthday is uneventful and happy!
As a kid, I consistently ended up in the principal's office for /something/ on my birthday. In kindergarten it was for using a scissors to expand a hole I found in a beanbag to see what was inside. In first grade I think it was for fighting on the bus. And so on.
So happy birthday to you, and hopefully it is better behaved than the ones of my youth. ^.^;
The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group
Thank you to everyone who shared and for the birthday wishes! Sorry I wasn’t online long enough to comment, but my day got busy. I checked in on my phone a few times, but trying to use my phone post was a nightmare so I gave up on that.
The giveaway is over, and and are the winners. I’m sending everyone else who posted a story something small to say thank you for sharing.
