It's almost December and winter and what do I get? Swimmers ear. What started out as a earache Sunday when I was at work by myself (yay shortstaffed retail) turned into that. This is absolutely awful. I had a ear infection as a kid in elementary school but this I feel like tops it. I don't even know where I feel like it stands compared to contractions. I guess at least with contractions I could somewhat sleep. I was lucky to have got 3hrs total of sleep last night. (And for tge record I haven't been swimming in who knows how long and last time I was in a hot tub was in October)
Have you had it? What was your experience? Have you had something you got "out of season" or without even doing something as to how you would even get the thing. (I.e. like me not swimming or being in/near nasty water but still getting swimmers ear)
I was always told to tilt your head to the side with the swimmer's ear and then jump up and down on the one leg on that side. lol
don't know if this will help you or not but that's what I did when I was 8 years old

Haha! I wish that would work. I got prescription ear drops I have to use 4x a day for a week. I've been even trying to pop my ear. It's my left ear only.
glad you got the ear drops.

You did make me laugh so that was good! If I knew your suggestion would work I would do it in a heartbeat even if I looked silly and the kids just laughed at me. Lol Thank you for that suggestion too.
Just have to try and rest as much as I can on top of ear drops and motrin. Not sure if I will make it in to work tonight or not.
sorry I was gone . had to go pick up some groceries.
well going to work is up to you. if you think it's better.

Ahh. I've had ear problems my whole life. I have this Swimmer's Instant Ear Dry ear drops. "Clears water trapped in ears". The Active ingredient is 95% isopropyl alcohol which is an ear drying aid. Uses: Dries water in the ears and relieves water-clogged ears after swimming, showering, bathing, washing the hair. It was bought at walmart.
When water is trapped in my ears after a shower I lay down on my side with the affected ear upwards and put the drops in and wait a few minutes. Then I get up and pour it out of my ear onto a towel. It feels better instantly and ear will still be wet at first but when it dries it's very dry.
I used to have painful throbbing feeling in my ears often but I haven't had a problem since I started using this to clear trapped water in my ears after showering.
Think I may try and go for as long as I can. Only a 4hr shift but am not going to overwork and upset myself either. I habe to get some groceries myself tonight. Mainly food for the youngest. She eats so much.
My issue is my sinuses. I've had THE worst sinuses. It isn't fun. Sick regardless of the season.
I've had minor little earaches but nothing like this. Usually I can pop my ear, give it a little tug or wiggle it and it will pop or feel better. Nope not this time.
I will have to look for those. Thank you! They gave me some prescription ones I take 4x a day for a week. It is helping numb it thankfully and bringing down the swelling.
Ugh, I feel your pain. I have a condition called auricular rosacea. It basically swells my ears and makes them look ugly. They're normal-sized, but the nice swirly look of a normal ear is instead all swollen and red-looking. They close up every night when I go to bed. Sometimes they close during the day for seemingly no reason at all. I can sometimes plug my nose and blow and it'll clear, or I can jiggle a finger around in the offending ear and it'll clear, but it always closes up again eventually. It's a pain in the ass. I can have laser surgery, but I'm not sure my insurance will pay for it and I'm not rich by any means. There's nothing that can really be done about it. I wish I could just take antibiotic drops or something for it.
Oh man that really stinks! :( Yeah surgeries are no fun. I worry about needing it with my sinuses bit I'm afraid of the cost of even just the appointment for getting them looked at. Then thinking about the surgery. Ugh. I hate havingsinus infections (and people being assholes about staying away etc even though it isn't contagious) but I also can't stand to think of surgery.
Yeah, I hear you. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed at once and I had to be put under for it because I was afraid of having a panic attack during surgery. I was so flipped out over it for the month or however long it took to wait until the date and could barely force myself to walk into the office. But then an hour later I was in the car on my way home and it was fine. My friends were assholes with the horror stories beforehand too. They're lucky I love them, the assholes.
I had all 4 of mine pulled at the same time too. I literally had 3 appointments to get it done. First they weren't even going to use anything but maybe gas so my paremts said LOL NOPE. Second time they didnt tell me I couldn't eat before hand. They numbed me up and were going to try it on just gas but I was shaking like a tree so the guy said nope. 3rd time was the charm. I feel like teeth not as big of a deal as sinuses.
Gotta love friends! No one told me about theirs I feel like I was the first haha I did warn my boyfriend though. He experienced it with me when I had mine puller and I got sick so I warned him to take ot slow getting up so the asshat dr doesn't yell at you. He got his done by the same person a year or more after me. The guy was ticked I got sick. Like I knew it was going to happen. :/
