Hi... sorry if this is a really dumb question, but I was looking for names the other day, and I saw one pet was born in "December 31st, 1969"... what does it mean, really? How did people get pets born in 1969?

It looks pretty cool, actually, but I have no idea how those are even a thing :P

If I recall correctly, Jan 1st 1970 is when the time starts (is at zero) in programming. I think its like 00:00:00 UTC or something like that. Depending on the timezone (since the server is in the USA it would be basically the day before), a pet would show up as being born Dec 31st 1969 because for some reason there is no time/it was set to zero.

The official term (had to look it up), is called the Unix epoch time.

Kinda of a rough explanation because it's been awhile since I've done anything with programming.

Yeah, I don't know all of the details but I know there was a glitch at one point where all pets created during a certain period were given that birth date because it wasn't tracking the actual date properly or something.

I'm not sure when exactly it happened, but they were left that way and so there are still quite a few of them floating around I think.
