Potions have kinda been a forgotten stepchild of the BC, they haven't been touched in years, but I think they are one of the many mechanics that could be very interesting when implimented correctly.
When the BC was first introduced I think another one of the big problems for why they were ignored for so long is that there is a perception that they could be extremely game breaking, and back then, I think there was some truth to that. However, once per battle items have become very weak in comparrison to the challengers that people fight. Modern challengers have much more HP and battle last much longer.
Really the only 2 potions worth considering at this point are Negating Pylonic and Glaciating Pylonic (and while I still keep a Glaciating around, I can't remember when the last time I clicked it was.).
I think there are 2 angles to hit potions from to make them more interesting one is that the pylonics currently in existence could probably mostly get a decent buff. Then the second would be to include a set of expensive MC potions that even larger pets would use for their dramatic game changing effects, with a large cost per battle. Using cost as a balancing tool is I think the biggest
If these changes were made, it might be worth limiting the number of potions that someone can equip. Only the Dark XXX Potions would be affected by a limit on the number of equiptable potions, and that would be a relatively small price to pay for more diverse gameplay
How I would change potions up: Negating Pylonic - No changes Glaciating Pylonic - No Changes Regenerating Pylonic - +100Def/+100STR/+1000SPD (not a typo. This would make it interesting for small pets early, and maybe interesting for larger pets later on.) Revivifying Pylonic - Increase to heal 1000 Sanctifying Pylonic - 100% Heal Reverberating Pylonic - Curse 15 icons 100 turns Salvonic Pylonic - Blessing 3x icons of each type defense Forgerous Pylonic - Generate 10x junk weapons
Dark XXX Potions see some use, I would leave them alone. If the number of potions were limited, it might be better to move these to 30 icon bombs or curses or something like a 30 icon bomb with a 5 icon 100 turn curse.
The gelatin throwing vials I thin can get some pretty huge upgrades because they would be supply limited, and price would be Mercurial Throwing Vial - Change to 100% Freeze Mutagenic Throwing Vial + 500 STR/+500 Def Necrotic Throwing Vial - 100% Block (100% blockers are Relatively Weak in 99.99% of battles, but are relatively interesting in no heal battles. By giving people escalating price 100% blockers availbe for longer no heal fights, it would be an interesting mechanic.) Destabilizing Throwing Vial - 50 icons - Noone is going to get rich bombing out low level opponets. I think this looks scary, but it anyone can find me a truely economically viable way to abuse this potion, I would admit the damaging potions are maybe a little more risky that the more defensive in nature potions. Acidic Throwing Vial - Curse 20 icons 100 turns
New/MC potions Omnipotent Pylonic 3mil - 100% heal, 100% freeze, 100% block MutagenX 2mil -1000 total HP (for the battle) + 3000STR MutagenY 2mil -1000 total HP + 3000DEF MutagenZ 2mil -1000 total HP + 3000SPD Bomb Potion 5mil 100 Icons - Damaging potions are hard to balance without tiers. Noone is going to get rich bombing out low level challengers at 5mil a pop though. I think this would be safe even without a tier guard on it. If someone wants to take their T5 pet and bomb out T6 challengers at 5mil a pop, let them have their fun. Bomb2 Potion - 8mil 200 Icons Parched Pylonic - 20 Hard BS tokens - Parched for 30 turns.

I agree the only two main potions I use are the glaciating and negating pylonics. Other than that I keep some Dark XXX Potions on my main battle pet for use when the opponent is frozen.
For me though, the main barrier to using potions is equipping them. It seriously sucks the way it works now, which is why even though they are useful I still rarely use the pylonics. Its just too much hassle replacing them.
Love, love, love the parched pylonic!
Don't really understand the battle system enough to be able to evaluate the rest.
