I used to be really afraid of spiders. I still don't really like most of them. But I respect them. They're important for the environment. If I see something venomous, it's getting mashed if it's in the house/in my work. If it's outside, it'll probably get to live if it isn't close to the house and is minding its own damn business. Generally, I don't kill anything though, no matter how disgusting or scary I find it. But I've only just recently gotten like this. I used to kill spiders whenever I saw them. I've gotten wiser though, I guess.

Like today at work, just a few minutes ago and what inspired me to make this post, actually. I almost body-checked the UPS delivery guy away from "rescuing" me from a spider. It was about a half-inch long, black with little white markings, and super fuzzy. I think it was on the boxes he delivered. Anyways, I got a cup and put it over the spider and slid a paper underneath and the little fuzzy thing just sat there with its mandibles going, staring at me, probably thinking I was going to eat it. I took it outside and released it in the front garden. Super CUTE though!! One of my residents was up here at the time though and he was laughing at me. I think he was amazed I picked it up and was talking about how cute it was.

So what do you think about spiders? Do you think I'm weird for thinking the fuzzy jumping ones are cute?

I don't think that's weird at all! Albeit, I might be a little biased. I love spiders very much. I think they're amazing little critters, and 90% of them would rather run away and hide. They get a bad rep for being mean. At work, I'm usually the one people call to deal with spiders and bugs because I'm not afraid and I always go out of my way to relocate them lol.

But yes, the fuzzy little jumping ones are very cute. I don't blame you. c: I'm sure it appreciated the save. Also, I think it's really awesome of you to make a conscious effort to be kind to them.

I used to be scared of them but since last year I am not! They are actually really cute. I catch each one I find in my house and release them outside.

(But maybe thats because there are no venom spiders where I live. We do have very big spiders but those are harmless).

I’m still iffy on them myself, always have been, but between watching Lucas the Spider and having bought a large spider skeleton last year.... I’m getting better. Some of them really are quite cute I gotta admit, and I never want to kill them myself (I get someone else to take them out). I can actually look at them without getting shivers now! :) But yeah, I won’t kill them myself and I’m finally coming to like them (tarantulas still weird me out, but jumping spiders ARE super cute).

I heard from many that Lucas helped them ease their phobia, thats so neat!

For me it depended on size when I was a kid. I didnt mind the smol jumping spiders or the ones with the long thin legs (wich are not actual spiders. you know the ones ) Then I became ambitious to study zoology and in between watching Steve Irwin, David Attenborough and Rob Bradle I came to the conclusion that I really should not hate any animal the way I did before. Spiders still are creepy to me. But I read up on them a lot and with familiarity came acceptance.

Now I am the one in our company who carries all the spiders out, whilst all the big burly guys wimper and squeak X,D

I never had a problem with spiders. Mom always told me it was bad luck to kill a spider in the house, because they eat the other bugs, and to just leave them be. Plus I always thought they looked cool. Right now there are some spiders in my apartment that have set up shop in the corners by the ceiling, but I just let them do their thing and don't bother 'em. In-house pest control! Although I will occasionally sweep up abandoned webs.

Any spider kind of stresses me out as the ones where i live tend to be pretty nasty (if that wasn't hint enough, I live in Australia).

I think it's just the way they move, or all the legs that creep me out. But in saying that, I always try to save them or put them outside, i really don't enjoy killing them.

I don't know if I find them inherently cute. Maybe the fluffier ones? But idk, I'm not a huge fan overall :(

I've never been afraid of spiders myself but since I've moved to Texas I find myself much more cautious due to all of the venomous one's down here. Now, I agree. They're kind of adorable. I think it all started for me when I started watching the adorable Lucas the Spider videos on Youtube. My kids love him so much and now have learned that spiders are actually really great to keep nasty bugs out of the house and they're pretty quiet/stay to themselves in the corners of rooms. I don't have one inside currently but outside I have some pretty huge webs. They don't bother me - I don't bother them. Mutual respect haha.

I think spiders are adorable as well as kinda impressive in their variations (see: peacock spider). There's not many venomous species in my area, so I don't have to worry too much about picking them up and relocating them. I do, however, tend to just leave the ones inside be, as they are working hard to take care of other pests lol

I don't think you're weird for liking the fuzzy ones! I have a 6 year old female rose hair Tarantula that I named Penelope! She's super big and covered in rose colored hairs, I think she's adorable! Tarantula's are my favorite, the fuzzyness makes them cute to me!

I guess I have always been afraid. Or as long as I can remember at least. Somebody told me I should just try holding a tarantula because they are actually rather docile and lovely pets. Maybe one day...

I hate spiders But Im also pretty allergic to them, even supposed 'non-poisionus' or mild vemoned ones. Im just super sensitive to any venom and react pretty badly... I have scars. D: But I leave them alone in the wild. But if theyre in the house theyre dead.

I honestly don't know why but I'm super terrified of spiders, a-okay with snakes and pretty well anything else, but spiders are a big ol' nope from me. There's actually a lot of spiders where I live right now, mostly wolf spiders (I think, and hope, If not wolf than likely brown recluse :'( ) so I can still sleep, but it's stressful for sure. There's actually a spider in my bathtub right now, and honestly it's earned my respect. I tried to wash it down the drain TWICE yesterday, and it's still there so I've just relented. I've actually let 2 or 3 spiders live inside/in close range to me out of respect. If I try to kill you more than once and you're still moving (and not dangerous to me) then you're clearly determined to live.

Even though I'm terrified of spiders I understand it's not their fault and they're typically super good for the environment, so when I can I'll get someone else to relocate spiders to outside. Mostly it's been my grandma who really likes spiders (she gardens). I just feel like, outside is really the spider's territory, even if it's the front porch, whereas inside is my/human territory.

I just have very strong feeling about spiders, after all, I [i]was[/i ]bit by a spider when I was younger. Besides all that though, I do think jumping spiders are kinda cute, even if I don't like to be within 15 feet of them >_>
