hi and welcome! i'm henry and i'm also kylo and you're listening to henry and kylo and this is my sick goblin party apartment. the full name wouldn't fit in the forum group name

this is a place for me to shout at whoever cares to listen, and also host really weird contests, and offer my services at the variety of talents i've hoarded like a dragon over the years. it's also a place for you to do these things!

this board in particular is so you can say hi & so i can know how to not misgender you.

some stuff about me:

i'm a system! if you don't know what this is it's more than one person in the same body. it's associated with mental illness, particularly DID, but there are also plenty of systems out there who don't have any of these. i'm real high on the mental illness hog, but none of them caused my being a system. that's just a thing on its own.

we're distinct people but we share the same memories and we can completely access each other's thoughts. the metaphor i like to use is the jaegers in pacific rim. our body is a jaeger and we're constantly in the drift.

occasionally one of us in particular will be fronting (ie, piloting the body) and the other will be dormant, this usually happens for a few days at a time, but a lot of the time we'll be co-fronting, where one of us might be leading more than the other, but the other is still awake & thinking.

our body usually goes by henry or hank and uses he/him pronouns, because it's more handy to have one name when you're in public. but you can also call us kylo, ky, vriska, or crimeswizard, or use thon/thons pronouns, when you're referring to the body/jaeger/collective.

when you're specifically talking to henry he uses he/him, and kylo uses she/her.

if this is super complex to you don't sweat it, you don't have to give a shit. just call me hank & use he/him. :)

some more stuff about me:

  • i love a star war
  • i also like harry potter, homestuck, steven universe, the adventure zone, mbmbam, undertale/deltarune (mostly deltarune), and dumb jokes
  • i'm 21
  • i live in america but i have no sleep schedule to speak of and also i use british english because i started one day and never stopped
  • i love making HAs and try to participate in every contest i can get my grubby gay hands on
  • i'm gay, trans, & poly, also autistic, borderline, dyslexic, and proud as hell of all of these
  • i'm a writer and artist
  • i'm literally kylo ren
  • my favourite food is ranch dressing and my favourite word is fuck
  • bad jokes & oversharing are we
some stuff about hank:

  • soft gay
  • humble & tacky
  • just wants to play video games mostly
some stuff about kylo:

  • That Bitch
  • signs us up for way too many things kylo this is a callout
  • glorious & decadent
we basically function as a unit, so don't worry too much about anything re: us unless you want to, just know that we're here and we're really gay and really stupid and really friendly

I'm Kiri. My account's named Valiska after my character, Valiska Courinna :) She/her/hers.

Aside from the fact where I'm cis and twice your age I am amused that we have similar brainweirds (take the autism and BPD, add loads of ADHD and a hugely unhealthy amount of PTSD, and screw Amurrican spelling 5ever).

I'm effing obsessed with Gravity Falls, Homestuck, Steven Universe, Wild Kratts, Profit, Twin Peaks, Star Trek (most flavours EXCEPT the reboot movies; I even love The Orville but holy smokes do I hate the AU that gave us white Khan and turned Uhura into Spock's mommy substitute), and I'm really pissed at JKR for many reasons but I still like playing in her universe some.

If you like bad jokes and oversharing we will get along great.

I am seriously into fashion IRL and I wear lolita, pinup, otome and other classically feminine styles. as well as some steampunk stuff.

I'm polyamorous and queer but I have also been told the word for what I am is grey-ace. I do have sexual attractions and they're actually quite strong. But they don't happen very often. (Except annoyingly with cartoon characters I can't date lol).

I feel after recent subeta events that this probably requires a warning label: I am not and never will be vegetarian or vegan. I support animal welfare, but not animal rights, because I do not support removing animals from human society and I am very pro-domestication and taming of wild critters as long as it's not done through poaching and they have what they need, including space (I have friends who breed servals and they're great, and PeTA thinks hedgehogs and ferrets and lizards are "exotic pets" that should be banned--but anyone who tries to keep a tiger in their flat is a dumbass and That's Not OK). After reading Robert Paddle's book "The Last Tasmanian Tiger" and all the stories about tamed thylacines, my actual dream would be to have a pet thylacine. Who would be spoiled AF.

I have celiac disease and some food intolerances, meaning that even if I wanted to be a vegetarian, it wouldn't work--a lot of plant proteins turn my guts into mush. But most of my favourite animals are carnivores too. :)

i'm... possibly also bipolar? big ol question mark there. but it took me like, 15 reads of the dmv-5 or whatever its called definition of bpd over about 2 years and constantly going like hmmmmn before i was like "oh, this version of kylo ren i wrote based off myself totes has bpd... WAIT A SECOND." so i kind of, uh, may or may not we just don't know yet and probably won't for a while.

i'm also omnivorous, i fortunately think that whole discourse sidestepped me... i definitely don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat, there's a lot of things wrong with how a lot of meat processing companies treat their animals, but that's a symptom of capitalism, not of eating meat in general. i am in fact more omnivorous than i should be, the latest thing was dishwasher grit water which my SO jokingly suggested i drink and then moved away from me rapidly as they realised i was actually going to do it. did not get to taste the grit water. much sads.

also high five on the probably ace spectrum front! i'm both a gay man and a lesbian in the same body and neither of us is actually sure if we've ever experienced sexual attraction but damn if we're not gay!

Oh, I know I've experienced it. It just doesn't happen that often. When it does, and the other person is amenable, it can get kinda crazy.

I am the great frustrater of demisexuals, who get more and more attracted to people the better they know them, and think that this is the problem, when the actual problem is that I'm on or not on. :)

Do try not to drink the dishwater water, it might have chemicals in it that could hurt you rather than just grit. You know. Like that whole tide pod thing, detergent's not food :)

ADHD and Bipolar can look a lot alike in a person who has comorbidities like autism and borderline. They both tend to make you do stupid impulsive things, especially with money. And when your BPD is out of control and you're splitting you can sound manic even if you're not.

The question is, how do you react to stimulants? if things that are stimulants to other people actually make you calmer, it's probably ADHD.

probably not ADHD, i've reacted to stimulants in some pretty weird ways but never really calming down from them. also Sasha (one of my SOs) has ADHD and we've already had that conversation and are both pretty sure i don't.

i thought i was demisexual for a long time, turns out i'm just quoiromantic and my sexuality is who the fuck knows. i get spontaneous friendship attraction to people which i'm pretty sure is the closest equivalent to what most people refer to as a crush....

- well, we have a lot in common, but we're not the same person :) The thing is, bipolar disorder is a thing that really needs to be treated if someone has it, but you really gotta know for sure, because some of the drugs that they treat it with have really nasty side-effects and can totally fuck you up if you don't actually need them.

In the 70s when I was in grade school they didn't diagnose little white/white-passing girls with good grades with ADHD even when they were clearly hyper af, but I started self-medicating with black tea when I was like 4-5, so that kept it somewhat under control. In my 30s I finally got a diagnosis and actual proper medication. It has made a big difference.

I had to look up quoiromantic, but that's a good word all right. I have been in that place a few times with people I loved but was definitely not sexually attracted to.

This mostly seems to be a Valiska and steamworkBlue introduction to what's weird in our brains and I 💙 it, you guys are two of the best, I swear.

I'm weird about names and genders and pronouns too and just call me Truffula here, ok? and Gammarad on the nanowrimo and some other forums.

I'm approximately cis female so in person I just about always get "she/her" but I don't really have a gender identity as such, so pronouns don't worry me. I pretty much go along with whatever as long as the antecedent is clear. Online where people can't tell as easily by appearance I just roll with whatever (I have yet for someone to use something other than he, she, or they, though). I do my best to use whatever people ask me to. Although it isn't a thing for me, I recognize it is a big deal for a lot of people and respect their preferences and identities and all.

I'm 51 years old and the only official thing atypical with my brain is depression which is treated, but I suspect I have some subclinical other atypicalities and they might be ones you've already mentioned. I have close family with all of the things mentioned so far (sibling/offspring/parent close) except borderline and system. I do have a close non-blood-relative with system.

I am bi and in a stable relationship/family and I'm employed making good money so I'm fairly privileged. I'm from a minority religion in my area and a woman in a perceived male profession and there's the depression.. I went through a lot of years having very little sexual attraction but I've had quite a bit recently and honestly it's good for my writing but it's got as many drawbacks as benefits.

In terms of being into media, I don't really..... I mean I like watching things on Netflix but I like obscure things just as much as really popular ones. There's at least twenty fantasy book series I like better than Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. There's at least thirty science fiction movies/tv series/book series I like better than Star Wars. And I don't have favorite anythings.

Also I'm not into music.

I love reading, cats, writing (when I can), gardening (when the bugs don't bite), cooking (when I'm in the mood) and doing stuff on computers (ALL THE TIME). I'm getting used to my phone being a computer.

I like your contests anyway. I don't think I can manage star wars/trek contests, but I can skate by on the music ones with Wikipedia and Google :)

I'm very into math. What's sensory ecology? it sounds interesting!

thanks for the warm welcome!! and for the gift--i really appreciate it, i love seeing people's taste in collectibles. :) currently i'm really feeling sandbox rpg games like skyrim. i just picked up witcher 3, taking a break for finals but i can't wait to get back into it! also, tbh, we're fans of a lot of the same stuff. i love su and taz is excellent.

it's great to meet another math nerd! :O are you more into theoretical math or applied math? sensory ecology is essentially the study of signal processing and how it affects animals, it's really neat. the lab i work in does a lot of work with bats and moths--so like, how bats use echolocation to hunt moths, and what adaptations moths have evolved to get away from bats. we've also done quite a bit of work in trying to understand how road noise affects animal communities and trophic interactions. it's soo cool!

I was more into theoretical math when I was doing it a lot (especially algebraic topology and real analysis), I was a math major back in college. Now I do more applied number theory and that kind of thing, I guess, the math that I use is for software development which is what I do for a job :) Lot of permutations, pseudo-random generation, algorithm maximum analysis, that kind of stuff.

The ecology of signals is amazing! I think our crossover point is information theory. It's used to analyze signals a lot, you can tell how much information an animal is conveying by sounds or how much it potentially could pick up from its environment :)
