NATIONAL REPTILE AWARENESS DAY
Let´s honor reptiles today!
All reptiles play an important function in their ecosystem; for example, lizards control insects and pests in homes and gardens, while snakes keep rodents under control in urban life and in the countryside.
A reptile is any amniote that is neither a mammal nor a bird, is cold-blooded, has scales or scutes and can lay eggs on land.
In general, there are four orders of reptile species: the Crocodilia (crocodiles, alligators, etc.), the Tuatara (lizard-like), the Squamata, (includes lizards and snakes), and the Testudines (turtles, tortoises, and terrapins). There are more than 10,000 species of reptiles!
Taking the time to learn about these different species allows us to appreciate the environment we both share.
The majority of all reptiles are considered ectothermic, meaning they rely on their environments to regulate their internal body temperature, reproductive health, immune system functioning, and daily stamina.
One of the largest reptiles on record is the salt water crocodile, which can measure over twelve feet long and weigh more than a thousand pounds.
The world's smallest known reptile is the dwarf gecko with a snout-vent length of only 16 millimetres!
And they all come in some many colors, some are even rainbow-colored! Beautiful!

I chose the super duper cute Leopard Gecko in a terrarium with sand and a stone pillar where she can hide, and enough green to keep the air moist xD

i wasn't terribly inspired for this, so i asked my friends for some ideas, my friend natalie sent me this chameleon! i did more of an outfit inspired by it than a direct replication, more of a gijinka i guess?
