So long story short I tried to intervene and find out more on a situation for a friend. Talked to my sister who blabbed it around and made the situation worse. My friend is mad at me but I was acting out of concern for him.

Situation was a stalker type girl messaged him out of nowhere saying the words love and other nonsense and it got me worried. Girl is supposed to be dating someone. Called my sister to see what she thought and it escalated greatly. The girl is quite known for causing issues and telling lies. I guess when asked about it she denied knowing my friend at all. Then admitted she did know him. She refused to talk to anyone about what she sent and that made it worse. My friend showed me the message and it appears it was a chain thing or a message sent to the wrong person? Now my friend is upset with me for talking to my sister and I'm upset she let it snowball. I told myfriend I didn't think my sister would do that. And still the girl is trying to hide it from everyone. If it was an innocent mistake how hard is it to say so and not hide it?

Anyone else ever been in a spot like this? Where you try to help out of concern but it goes far out of control? I feel miserable my friend is mad at me.
