So, the latest Nintendo Direct (9/13/18) has announced that "Animal Crossing" is coming out for the Switch next year, without any actual details or release date.

Anyone want to discuss thoughts as to what the game might include?

The fact we had Tom Nook giving us the lead-in makes me think that it'll be something along the lines of "Happy Home Designer" mixed with "Pocket Camp" or "New Leaf"

I am PRAYING that the new title is like New Leaf, which I LOVE, instead of my hated title of Happy Home Designer (HHD).

HHD ruined the atmosphere of "do anything you want" by giving you a job which is the only thing you could do in it

But I'm still SO EXCITED

I'm really excited also, I've been waiting on the announcement since the Switch came out! The shorts announcing Isabella in Smash followed by Tom Nook were really cute. Like , I'm hoping it's more along the lines of the classic AC titles and pocket camp rather than HHD, which I grew tired of very quickly since it was so repetitive with the sole task you had. I'm also hoping it's more revamped than just a "new" New Leaf. :)

I'm very excited, too! The Switch is such a great console for a game like AC. Though I agree, I hope it follows something like New Leaf more than Happy Home Designer. Tbh I've never played HHD, but that's partially because I felt like it is a game I may get bored of quickly.

Regardless, I plan on getting it. I'm really looking forward to it!

My sister and I were watching the Nintendo Direct live-stream as the new game was announced, we're both super excited... Although I have the feeling I'll be playing it less when it gets released, as I do not own a Switch and she does. :/

i am literally excited for anything on the matter. the only reason why i got a switch was because i knew if they were to make another beautiful animal crossing, that would be the console. i actually loved happy home designer and how it was a bit different from the standard way of the animal crossing games. i'm only hoping for a quick release and that it won't get pushed back a number of times.

i just hope all of my favourite animals are gonna be/stay there!

Ahhhh, I'm so excited for this game! Personally, I kinda would like the game to be a mix of New Leaf and Happy Home Designer. As in, keep the options to explore the area and bond with the villagers, but also an option to decorate buildings or rooms other than your home like in HHD, but maybe with more judgement than having the NPCs just saying "It looks great!".

I would also love to see more villagers move in.

Regardless, I'm still going to love the game and revisiting all of the villagers again!

I'm super excited for this too! I don't have a Switch, but at this point it's like the number one thing on my wishlist because I definitely need to get this. My friend got me into New Leaf a few months ago, actually, so I'm relatively new to this franchise but I'm already in love.

I haven't played any other AC games, so I'm very open-minded about the Switch game - I don't mind if it has different mechanics as long as the aesthetics and general relaxing vibe are the same <3 Such good stress relief after long days.

The main thing I'd want to see changed, is if they made it possible to not have random villagers move out after not playing for a couple days. Or even a way to ensure that certain villagers stay in your town, or at least lower the chance of them leaving (via friendship or something maybe?) There are certain villagers that it would break my heart to see leave, and I'm kinda terrified that one of them will move out without telling me. If Tangy moved out one day, I don't think I could pick up the game again for a while...
