TOOTH FAIRY DAY

Who doesn’t remember the excitement of losing a tooth and waking up in the morning to a little something from the Tooth Fairy?! National Tooth Fairy Day is coming up on August 22 and it’s the time to let the kid in you relive all the fun and folklore! The tradition of a child receiving a gift for a lost tooth can be traced back to medieval Europe. The practice was particularly prevalent in Scandinavia and England. The idea of a “tooth fairy", however, did not come about until the 20th century. The myth is comforting for many children, who often experience pain or fear when losing a tooth. It can be fun for parents as well to observe the innocence and trusting nature of a child. The “tooth” is whether young or old, we all love the idea of a fairy leaving us a small gift in exchange for a lost tooth.

Fairies are common in myths and legends in many parts of the world and they have enthralled us for centuries. The mystery and magic captivate kids and adults alike. Believe in and listen to these magical stories!

Yes we would hid our teeth under the pillow and my mom would spread glitter ALL over our bed, very messy XD and a CRISP dollar maybe two would be under our pillow. I used to get a quarter for every tooth, , which probably mostly says that I'm older than dirt.

You gotta figure a tooth fairy has weird teeth. Also she looks kinda menacing but I like that in an eldritch being.

i remember the days i would get so excited to lose a tooth because i knew the next morning the tooth fairy would come and leave a dollar. there was this one time though when i woke up with my tooth still under my pillow. i think this was near the time i started to realize that the tooth fairy might not be real so i was skeptical that maybe she was late or my mom just forgot. kept checking under my pillow before school to later find a dollar there and my tooth gone. was really confused at the time because only my dad was home and i did not hear him go anywhere near my room before i found it. sneaky.

I remember getting so excited to put my tooth under my pillow and wake the next morning with a couple dollars where the tooth was. Awww to be a child again :)

Sorry I missed the last few contests. My back's been giving me trouble again so sitting on the computer long enough to put together quality HAs really hasn't been good choice lately.

1. I grew up with the Tooth Fairy (although my dad messed it up pretty early on and 'slipped' the money under my pillow while he was tucking me in - smooth lol). I liked the idea of keeping my baby teeth more than I cared about the token the tooth fairy would leave behind, so my mom said if I just put a note with the tooth asking the tooth fairy to leave it, the fairy would understand and leave both ;P

2. I just couldn't resist putting together a Supernatural/Winchester inspired Tooth Fairy dual. Not all Tooth Fairy are pretty and sweet right? So you better be ready kid wink

1. I used to put my tooth under my pillow for the Tooth Fairy, and sometimes I would write notes as well. One time I dropped and lost my tooth on a light-colored rug and wrote a note explaining the situation haha.

2. Child preparing for the Tooth Fairy Outfit Not Found The school nurse would give us tiny treasure chests or hollow tooth pendants to store our teeth in if we lost them during school. The HA is holding such a necklace and a pillow. She's practicing pretending to be asleep because she's young and really wants to see the Tooth Fairy for herself!

The Tooth Fairy Outfit Not Found This Tooth Fairy is traveling through a fairy wood to visit sleeping children. She'll return to her castle made of pearly baby teeth with more material to build with.

1. We had the tooth fairy when I was growing up. I think it was a dollar or two (AUD) per tooth? It didn't last very long. XD I always think of the tooth fairy (and related characters) from Terry Pratchett's Hogfather when people mention the tooth fairy! I'll make a more cosmic-themed one though, I think. Tooth fairies should have cosmic powers. xD

Well I think we did have a 'tooth fairy' when I was younger. But I knew she wasn't real, I knew it was my parents, lol. I must have believed early on though... My niece gets gifts from the tooth fairy, she started kindergarten last year and started losing her baby teeth! I can remember my mother wrapping my lost tooth in a handkerchief, using a special knot, and making a little bag of it. Then I would put it under my pillow. When I woke up I could see that the special knot always looked the same, yet magically, there would be a few coins in it. It became a dollar as I got older.

My fairy, always pink in my head, has a little rabbit fairy helper. I always think of them together because the day I realized there really was no tooth fairy, it dawned on me that there was no easter bunny either. I was very proud of myself for figuring that out. Outfit Not Found

Thank you so much for participating in the Tooth Fairy contest, I love all your entries! <3 In Germany, there was no tooth fairy at all. However, like always when it comes to merchandising and kids fun, it was kinda adapted like Halloween. Difference is, the children get a new toy instead of money. And for parent´s convenience, the box containing the tooth doesn´t have to be put under the cushion, we mostly place it at the window board so the fairy has easy access. :-)
