So spent last weekend at the ER in extreme pain and getting sick, found out that my Gallbladder is not to happy. So this coming up Thursday (23rd) I have surgery to remove it.
First time I've ever had anything major done. (And I'm over 35). I've never been on pain medications (that was a trip and a half at the ER). And I've never had any surgery's to where they have to put me under.
So, anyone had this done before? Any tips on what to expect? Because I'm honestly a little nervous about it.
All the best to you, I wish you a smooth surgery and of course a fast recovery!
My grandpa had his gallbladder removed and he had to be careful with fats and stuff like onions after his surgery.
- thanks for the well wishes.
Its been interesting to read up on how the gallbladder actually works and what it does. Have to be very careful with fat and grease afterwards.
I'm supposed to get mine removed but I'm scared of any surgical intervention 8)
I've thought about delaying mine being removed, but after the second gallbladder attack, I don't want to have to deal with the pain and wondering if the next thing I eat is going to possibly trigger another one. :(
I've been postponing mine for years. I have 12 golf-sized balls in my gallbladder and it causes me some pain/swelling at times. I just don't have time to recover after surgery either. I'm also nervous about the surgery ... If you're suffering, do it. The pain will stop as well.
I had my gallbladder out 11 years ago! The surgery wasn't bad at all, I think I was only out of work for like 2 weeks? I honestly don't even think I was in that much pain. My gallbladder wasn't ever really painful, but for whatever reason I couldn't keep any food down. After they took it out I didn't have any more problems with that. Much better to be able to eat haha.

The gallbladder can clog and cause bile to back up, which can make you sick. I had started getting sick after the pain had come up.
Glad your doing well afterwards! Its been interesting to see how that one poor little organ can cause so many issues with people.
