Everything feels so monotonous. I hate living my life in a routine. I don't make a lot of money or have a lot of friends, I cook with my boyfriend as a hobby on the weekends and have a lot of fun doing that, but 5 days out of 7 I'm losing my mind with how monotonous adult life is.

What do you guys do to break things up?

I've never been very good at making new friends, so I've had a lot of isolating hobbies including coding, writing, drawing, music, etc... but they all get boring sooner or later, I don't share it with anyone.

have you considered volunteering or trying something new? I know what you mean when life seems monotonous and being an adult does not have to be that way all the time. What I usually do if I start feeling that way is that I try to look for Meetup groups in the area and attend events. Or I will go walk with a friend in the park to take a break from my daily routine. You seem to like cooking, so maybe you can try something in that area? Also maybe coming up with both a short-term and long-term goals might keep you focused on starting something new. Hope this helps!!

i also feel my life has a nasty routine. i also get bored quite fast of what i do. but i really like my job. but im even better at doing nothing XD

to break monotony, or trying not to get saddened by the repetitiveness of life, just like you i do many other things. one of the best things is to go out for a walk though - walking that gets me tired is the best for my brain (just not for my job, haha) I'd also record the cooking sessions and share them on youtube, unless your job has some weird policy of not having your face shown online - though that's not needed.

why not sharing your creations? it's easy to upload them to tumblr for instance. especially drawings and writing. or the coding with fellow subeta users ;) (i have no idea if you already do that, sorry)

I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.

The best thing you can do is make goals for yourself and follow through with them. If you aren't making that much money, why not delve more into coding and see about expanding your career? Then when you are making enough o put money into savings, set goals like travel destinations or purchases. Check out new places with your bf. If travel intimidates you, start out local. Check out a new eatery or a band. Meetup is a great website for local events and Pinterest is great for building a bucket list. As someone with anxiety, traveling seemed really intimidating but having someone to travel with makes all the difference. My husband and I used google maps to find our way around Paris when we decided to wander.

This is also a fun tumblr that I enjoy looking at for new ideas (big and small) Here

I recently started volunteering at the humane society, mainly because I was feeling the same way and really wanted to do something meaningful with some of my time. I don't love my job. I don't have many friends. I have depression and anxiety. Life is hard. But since starting at the humane society, it's been better. It's not a cure-all and it's hard sometimes, but I love it.
