Another year passes and we're getting closer to Keelhauliday! And what better than making suggestions for the upcoming holiday! And that includes more ocean-inspired stuff, especially concerning mermaids, merrows, and selkies! Not to mention items similar to , yet in different colours - and patterns (mini vintage flowers, such as cherry blossoms or roses, would be nice!) :)

Are there any other suggestions you could add to? Please, don't hesitate in commenting them on this thread! :)

I think it would be cool to have some more sea creature stuff, even though we just had the deep sea/mythology month.

Some more wearables like these:

Maybe with some more shark stuff, but also dolphins and sea turtles (because I don't think we have any with those animals yet).

Also some backdrops where the HA can be on the deck of a ship or even below deck or in one of the cabins or various ones like that.

We have this but it's a bit old and has to be layered with something else for the water/sky and all.

Hoo boy! I have a big old book of British coastal/sea folklore I'm going to rummage through for some ideas when I have the time. But off the top of my head:

The Ledger of the Deep - supposedly the document held by the god of the sea listing the names of all ships (and hence a ceremony and an offering are required if you wish to change the name of your boat and not suffer the wrath of the seas).

Saint Elmo's Fire - could work as a really nice foreground wearable. Also some reference to Fata Morgana somewhere would be awesome.

Figureheads - just gimme a bunch of them.

Also, more generally, some nice swords. Nice plain swords that an ordinary pirate might have. I always struggle to find one that isn't some weird fantasy weapon or is glowing or had some weird gimmick about it. A falchion would be nice.

Yes to more ship foregrounds and backgrounds! Would also love to see a crow's nest forgeound too!

Treasure chests, both overflowing with loot and empty. Be it just the items or wearable versions as well!

Fancy eyepatches, peg legs, and the like!

Wearable booze containers! Flasks, bottles, jugs, etc.

Hmm if I think of more I will be back.

I made a few suggestions on my board here, buuuut: Black Sails items. We got a good amount of Pirates of the Caribbean stuff... Let's do a better series now.

Mermen items. We get mermaid stuff, but I'd like to see some mermen stuff. Like fish, I hope they are the ones that are extra and colorful.

Vests, because always. Basic, darker colors; some fancy/patterned for Fancy Captains.

Navy uniforms, especially period pieces.

A dolphin version of the Chum Bucket, because dolphins are evil.

More tattoos. All of the tattoos.

Water themed critters: Ibis, Monkfish, Tuna, Swordfish, Bass, Mackeral, Cod, Sturgeon, Crayfish, Rainbowfish

Edibles: Roe, bottle of rum

Other: fishing nets, harpoons, bailing bucket, pieces of eight

I'd love some minions to match these existing items:

These may or may not all just be treasure chest wishes >.>

Some sort of ham would be nice, since its the best bit about being a pirate (other than not having to wear a suit).

Following on from that, as far as I know there's only one dodo minion on site, and there's no harm in a bit of variation.

I'd also like to see some minions based on the various beasties from the Carta Marina.

Pirate flags other than the usual skull and crossbones. (link)

Bandoliers, equipped with guns or knives or just plain buckly goodness.

Random ship stuff: cannon and cannonballs, rigging, a variety of knots, boatswain's whistle etc

bunch of folklore stuff that may not actually be usable but is at least fun Davey Jones was the spirit of the deep and was thought to be present in all storms. some sightings describe him as being of great height with three rows of sharp teeth in an enormous mouth with blue flames from his nostrils. The eponymous locker was at the bottom of the sea, and was a repository of everything that went overboard, both objects and men - ‘nothing is lost, for you know where it is’.

Seabirds were through to be the souls of dead sailors who had not yet found their way to Fidder’s Green (the afterlife for those who had been at sea all their lives). As such it was unlucky to kill most seabirds.

Wearing earrings was believed to improve long distance vision of the opposite eye. They were also thought to guard against drowning: a pair would be bought, one to be worn, the other thrown over the larboard side of the ship with the words "protect me o Davey Jones".

More fishing than piracy, but there is a tradition of 'paying the gods for their time', often in the form of throwing coins overboard to ensure a good catch, or pushing coins into the corks used to float fishing nets. Also a long tradition of placing a coin under the mast during a ships construction (there are Roman examples of this).

A horseshoe nailed upside-down on the mast was meant to avert storms and shipwrecks.

There was a common belief that witches could take the form of waves to disrupt the journey of a ship, but this was usually only done if they had a genuine reason to feel malevolence towards a ship or someone aboard. Witches were also known to sell their powers to mariners in the form of knotted cords so they themselves could influence the weather. As the knots were loosened, the wind increased, until a gale arose at the untying of the last knot.

A French Pirate by the name of Olivier Levasseur (aka La Buse/The Buzzard) acquired an exceptional treasure and concealed it, but was executed before he could return to claim it. He left behind a complicated cipher to indicate the treasure's location.

Belief that a remora could halt a ship from moving in even a favourable wind if it attached itself to the hull. Pliny claimed the fish could control the winds.

Kingfishers are a sign of good fortune (the greek name for them is 'halcyon'). Stuffed kingfishers have also been used as a form of barometer by sailors.

AYE I SECOND PALM TREES OMFG.

WE GOT FESTIVE, COLORFUL, BLINKING LIGHTS, NO NORMAL PALM TREES AND I AM MAD ABOUT IT OKAY. okaay.

Also I second the moar sea critter minions. And more items related to pirate lore, like vengeful drowned women minions (superstitious bunch they were) and I'd love a vengefully dead manesque minion for the poor soul who told a fierce lady she wasn't allowed on board. Pirate rule book would be great (they were big on rules, and a democratic vote). More booze, yes yes. Also ropes, and anchors, and and and.

YES AND YES. I mean, yes to so much of everything everyone is saying here but I popped in here real fast to bring up this stuff. "Rape and pillage" wasn't completely true, a lot were just tales (often to make people hate or fear pirates). Pirates did bad things (so many bad things), but so do... many land-dwelling men. History proves this. Some Captains literally had a rule of "if you touch a woman without her consent, you will be killed." Something most land-dwelling men don't seem to grasp. And a looooooooot so many of the ships they raided were ones carrying slaves, that they offered freedom to. I wonder why the government hated them so much. Many pirates were men of color seeking freedom and men (mostly navy) running from being prosecuted for homosexuality (often because their lovers were going to out them to save themselves). I. Wonder. Why. The. Government. Hated. Them. So. Muuuuch. Sorry. I ramble.

Booze specific for the Freyalise would be so nice. Maybe some stuff related to mythical creatures. "Siren's Call" (not the Nautical Gin one) "Mermaid's Grasp" "Draugar Blood" "The Ichthyocentaurs" (wow that's a mouthful) "Xiezhi's Horn" "The Whale's Tale" (alright not mythical shut up) ... Someone should hire me to create drinks and names for a nautical themed bar. I could have fun with that.

Government hated them because they followed rules, voted for what they were doing, and split money evenly among themselves. Like how DARE they not give half to the crown??

The only time pirates lost their minds was when it came to superstitions. So I'ma leave this link here with hopes staff can make some fun creative items with it because I want all of it. Even if it's just pirate lore books and whatnot :'D

A wearable Dirty Matty doll.

A cannon like this - it could be wearable if we had a suitable backdrop for it

From Black Sails, just looking at google images, I would like to be able to put together an Anne Bonnie outfit and that weird angular thing that McGowan wears. A lot of the stuff I'm seeing that is cool is not very brightly colored. Not sure if this is meant to show wear or dirt or their costumers just like to play with grey. Can we do a long sleeve deep vee thing like Hannah wears and it not look odd on our HA?

Do we have ship models? Because the blacksail one is also neato.
