ANYWAYS I'm ready to change up my hair color. My hair is naturally oily and pretty gross :x I'm a natural dirty blonde (more brown than blonde, but you can still tell the blonde is there) and I've only highlighted my hair in the past. This time, I want to dye it. Now, the hair color I want I don't really think would compliment my skin tone, but then again I'm not entirely sure either. I really want something like this; this; or this My only concern is that I'm SUPER yellow skin tone wise. I do want to stay in the lighter colors and gray/white are ideal, but I'm open to suggestions as well.
Do you think this hair color would work on my super yellow skin? xD
Those colors are pretty neutral so I don’t think they’d “look bad” with your skin tone. If you go to a salon to get it dyed, ask a few of the stylists what their opinions are. They’ll let you know if anything needs to be tweaked (a cool gray versus a warm gray, etc.) or whatever will work best. Good luck!
Be prepared to bleach your hair for any one of those colors, which damages your hair and adds extra upkeep.
That said! Don't fear the color, Colorista has some excellent temporary dye (that can run a little bit so be aware if you do use it) that you can play with for $10 and it lasts for about a month, plus it shows you how it turns up on natural hair so you can see if you need to bleach or not. But it's not "natural" coloring but it might be that step you need to see what colors will turn up and how. (Splat is TERRIBLE and will burn your hair right off. Use only if you want to be bald.)
I'm naturally red and I've gone teal with Colorista without issue. I tried a lime green and it looked like I got out of a highly chlorinated pool, lmao. I need to get the lime green professionally done if I ever do that.

I've been considering a few other color blondes as well and that just might be the direction I need to go to see what I like best. I appreciate your input <3
Hi there. So this reply is super late...lol. If you have already done your hair, disregard this. xD
Ok, so I have been dying my hair since I was like 11. I am now 27. So, I have tried basically every color you can imagine. I too have a yellow based skin tone and I can say that getting a silver/platinum blonde color like that, would look totally fine with yellow based skin tones. I will say that I have found turquoise looks best on me (turquoise is opposite yellow/orange on the color wheel, so it ends up being a nice complimentary color). I am super pale, lol. If you want to try something even more daring, I think a silver (or platinum blonde) to turquoise ombre would look really nice! Something like this: http://hairstylezz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Pastel-Braids.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/564x/47/5d/e8/475de8c108e04de14e9115b175ea26f0.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/ea/5f/0cea5f5800c525e74de25e0d596ce271.jpg https://stayglam.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/markathturn.jpg
Red colors also look pretty good with my yellow skin tone as well, since they are both warm colors.
ALSO, if you want to get your hair actually nicely lightened, and not with the whole bleached yellow look that happens, you'll need to get a toner to use after you bleach it. Wella has great toners, and you'll want a purple one if you hair ends up yellow-y, or a blue one if your hair ends up orange-y. Basically, it's opposite on the color wheel will help neutralize the funky bleached color.
Sorry for the long post, btw, if you don't even need opinions anymore! xD
I absolutely love that silver to turquoise, but it has to be a somewhat natural hair color since where I work is pretty strict about it. Speaking of red tones, I was actually thinking about something like this which is kind of rose gold/gray tinted. I could still kinda pass it off since a lot of the other girls at work have blaring red hair xD
I'm going do this professionally, but I'll definitely keep that in mind! That way I know what to expect and everything. I just don't trust myself to do it at home lol I appreciate your reply! You've given me a lot of helpful information :D
