💄 NATIONAL LIPSTICK DAY 💄
National Lipstick Day is recognized annually on July 29.
Did you know lipstick has been popular for thousands of years around the globe? In fact, people have been wearing lipstick since the 13th Century. Yet long before, the ancient Mayans, ancient Sumerians, aboriginal tribes in Australia, and even the famous Cleopatra rocked a signature shade. Since they didn’t have the variety of waxes and oils we have today, they had to get creative. They made lipstick out of everything from crushed nuts, gemstones or berries or ground up fish scales mixed with oil.
In the 14th century, Cosmetologist Abu al-Qasim al-Zahrawi created perfumed lip sticks he pressed into special molds. Beeswax lipstick followed soon after. In the 16th century, Queen Elizabeth brought red lipstick and a plain white face into fashion.
Guerlain, a French cosmetic company, started to manufacture lipsticks around 1880, and 1884, the first commercial lipstick was sold.
Today, we are able to choose out of thousands of colors and compositions, mixed to decorative lipsticks, caring balms or light glosses.
Challenge: Create a themed HA using at least 3 lipstick/balm/gloss items. You´ll be astounded by the fact which gorgeous lips you get doing so, even out of individual odd looking lipsticks! Just experiment!
