NATIONAL MOTH WEEK

The last week in July is all about celebrating all the helpful moths, be it the more camouflaged ones or ones with a pretty colorful dress! Butterflies’ not less-beautiful cousin, moths are nothing to scoff at, and National Moth Week is all about celebrating these delightful and helpful creatures.

Did you know moths are among the most diverse organisms on Earth? It’s true! Scientists estimate there are at minimum 150,000 moth species. Moths have been found that are small as a pinhead and as large as an adult-human’s hand. But of course, it’s their incredibly complicated wing colors and patterns that make them especially dazzling.

I've always liked the luna moth Outfit Not Found I've only every seen ONE in real life, flying around a spotlight outside of my dads place at night.

Outfit Not Found I chose this moth because it is my favorite color. It also looks really cool and regal. I love the three colors it has on it :O

My favorite moth is the polyphemus moth! I've encountered them twice and they really are as big as your hand (this is not my photo; I have photos like this of the ones I found but unfortunately I have no idea where they are). They're really incredible to see in real life!

I like the Luna Moth cause it is awesome and would easily blend in nature with its green color. It only lives one week. They are born adults as they are only alive to mate. Love their long tail.

I did not know there were so many pretty moths until I googled it! The only one I knew of and have seen is the luna moth.. So I found this Tiger Moth, and I really liked the geometric looking pattern on its wings! I had no idea there were so many beautiful moths! The moth that inspired me is the White Wave Moth because I can't get over the fact that it's wings look like lace at the bottom. LACE!
