This lesson has an ESSAY QUESTION assignment.

“Good morning students!” Professor Deidra Morgan welcomes her class with a cup of tea in her hand. “Make yourself comfortable, grab one of these nice mugs over there”, she gestures to a wooden board with different and colourful mugs. “Today, we’ll be focusing on healing abilities of herbs not in potions but in tea - the latter is often tastier, but it can be messed up easily as well.”

Once all students are settled, she goes on. “Herbal teas, or less commonly, tisanes, are made from the infusion or decoction of herbs, spices, or other plant material in hot water. However, they should not be confused with what people declare as real tea, like black or green tea. Most of the time, tea is served hot, but it can be cold as well. Many herbs are used both as food for pleasure and as medicines for healing purposes. Each plant that is processed into herbal tea has different ingredients. These include essential oils that determine the taste and smell of the respective plant, as well as vitamins and minerals. With the exception of maté tea and blends containing cola nuts and guaraná, herbal teas are caffeine-free - therefore, they can be enjoyed by children as well.”

“Herbal teas originate from ancient knowledge - they play a role in the history of medicine in wizarding and muggle world alike that should not be underestimated. Thus, they are still used today in herbal medicine or traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of many minor ailments. The effect of herbal tea goes back to the ancient Egyptians who had many respectable wizards among them as well. In the past, the required herbs were collected exclusively by hand. Nowadays wizards and witches usually buy their dried herbs in apothecaries. If herbal tea is used as a medicine, however, it must not be consumed in any quantity, because every herb can be both a remedy and a poison at the same time. It always depends on the dosage. Professor Mathers probably told you something similar in potions class.”

“For the production of herbal teas, the roots, leaves, flowers or fruits of the herbs are used. Freshly harvested, they contain most of the active ingredients and taste particularly aromatic. You can enhance the effects with some natural spices like ginger.

A well known example of herbal tea is valerian. It is known for its calming effect. Therefore, it makes an excellent remedy for anxiety, nervousness and sleep disorders. Due to its balancing properties on the nervous system, valerian has a relaxing and relaxing effect.”

Professor Morgan places her own mug on the table and points to an assortment of herbs. “I’ve gathered different herbs and some spices as well for our lesson. You can find some books on herbal teas and their effects in the back of the classroom as well. Please take time to research the different herbs. Your assignment for today is to create a herbal tea with at least two different herbs and one spice or just herbal tea consisting of three different herbs. It’s up to you but please keep in mind that first and foremost, the tea should be tasty. Some of you might agree that it would be a pity if the herbs go to waste for a bad tea.”

With these words, she grins and empties her own cup of tea.

“Please write an essay about the herbs in your tea, and, if used, spices as well. Explain their effects and how they work together. Describe the taste of the tea, whether it’s served hot or cold and how long the parts of the herbs are supposed to be in the water. Eventually, give your creation a name. There are some kettles near the windows, but it’s up to you to use them. You can use magic to heat up your water as well.

If you have any questions or ambiguities, I’m here to help you with any problem as long as it’s relevant to your education and herbology.”

Your assignment today includes an essay question. Please post your answers here behind spoiler tags (if you do not know how to use spoiler tags, please let me know and I'd be happy to help you). Your essay should be at least three paragraphs.

 • Create your own herbal tea by choosing at least two different herbs and one spice OR just three different herbs.
 • Explain which parts of the plant you are using, the effects of them and how it works with the other herbs in your mixture.
 • Describe the taste, the temperature and the steeping time.
 • Give your creation a name.

Your essay will be graded out of a maximum of 15 House Points. Bonus points may be awarded. Please include your house and your character’s name to receive points!

(Note: Tea is enjoyable, especially in these hot summer months! Of course, herbal teas are not a cure-all, but they can make you feel better when you’re having minor health problems. They do not replace a physician. Picture is provided by me and shows fresh mint leaves and their dried form.)

ezekiel wingslade - hufflepuff [b]Levitation sickness reliever tea

Many wizards and witches, specially the young ones, suffer from levitation sickness. This type of ailment is so common that, in fact, some charm study books comes with warnings and precautions. There is no such thing as a cure or prevention for levitation sickness, it won't last long but it can be very scary, leading some individuals to anxiety or panic attacks.

This tea was brewed to sooth the effects of levitation sickness and help calm down the nerves. Ingredients:

 • Anise, to help with nausea.
 • Valerian Root, to help orientation.
 • Feverfew petals and leaves, for headache and it's causes.

Simply place all the ingredients in a glass/stainless steel kettle (don't use stone or cast iron) with water, give it a vigorous stir and let it boil for at least 5 minutes, without stirring or removing the lid. Do not use sugar or any other ingredient, the anise and feverfew petals already give this tea a pleasant floral taste. Can be store in a cold place but will lose many of it's properties. If you need a quick solution, you can can use a mortar to mash the ingredients together and stir it in a glass of water, no need to boil or heat up.

"Depressed Dementor"

For every creature that suffers from anxiety and/or depression. Add these herbs, to your own desire, in a tea filter: Valerian, great to turn that frown upside down and prevents the need of sucking others soul out. Prevents you from your daily eye-twitching. Lavender, for that sweet, flowery taste, makes you feel calm and reduce sleep issues. Stevia, in case you can't get enough of sweetness and sugar makes your heart doing overtimes. Cannabis, same as valerian. Pain reliever. Not recommended for Dementors since they are already floating.

Place your filter in your cup and soak it with boiling water. Let it sit for 7-10min. I, personally, don't bother with leaving it in the entire time.

Herbal Tea Essay by Lysandra, Ravenclaw

Name of the Remedy: Stinkitis Scrammer

Ingredients: Hot water Fresh sage stalks with leaves - 4 stems for a teapot or 1 each for a glass or cup Vanilla pods - 2 for a teapot or 1/2 for each glass or cup Kumquats - 1 for a teapot, 2 slices each for glasses or cups Wild Flower Honey - a tablespoon for a teapot and a teaspoon for a glass or cup Powdered Kava Root - a sprinkle in each vessel

Tea Recipe:

 1. Prepare to cook either a pot of tea or several big glasses or cups.
 2. Boil water and let it cool down to 70 ° Celsius.
 3. In the meantime, put four stems with leaves of fresh sage in a teapot or one stalk each in a big glass or cup.
 4. Slice vanilla pods and scratch them out, 2 for a teapot or a half for each cup or glass.
 5. Wash the kumquats and cut them up into slices, a whole kumquat for the teapot or 2 slices each for a glass or cup.
 6. Grind the kava roots into powder.
 7. Put sage, vanilla pulp, empty vanilla pods, kava root powder and kumquats into the vessels in the amounts listed above and pour the hot water over them.

Taste: The taste of this herbal tea is amazing. It´s very fresh through the sage and the kumquat slices and gets the right amount of sweetness through the Wild Flower Honey. Vanilla adds another lovely taste to the tea and creates a lovely atmosphere like no other spice. Kava adds a sprinkle of myth yet it´s not very tasty in itself in sprinkles; would you add a greater amount, the tea would taste bitter.

Medicinal Use: This herbal tea is a well known remedy for Stinkitis. Stinkitis is a magical disease you can catch after breathing in the noxious green gas fumes which arise during the explosion of Stink Pellets. Inhaling these fumes leads to coughing, nausea, emesis and dizzyness which goes hand in hand with slight amnesia and concentration disorders. The symptoms can lead into frights and send the blood pressure soaring. Accompanying intense perspiration is another ailment of this illness.

Benefits of the Stinkitis Scrammer when used in cases of Stinkitis: 1. Sage Sage has a long history of medicinal use as a herb. Even small amounts of sage are able to stop caughing and the additionaly sore throat and can also reduce sweating distinctly. Flavonoic and phenolic compounds will help sinking the high blood pressure. The herb is also well know to increase memory retention in humans.

2. Vanilla Vanilla heals through digesting yet also through our olfactory senses. The scent of Vanilla directly impacts the brain and induces calmness and a feeling of home. The ingredient Vanillin is known to lower stress on body and mind and this leads to a speedy recovery in many cases. When served as a tea, Vanilla is able to cure a sore throat through providing an anaesthetic effect there. If you sip it slowly, it calms the stomach and reduces feelings of nausea and emesis which provoke the dizzyness. Exposure to Vanillin has even shown effects in curing frights and anxiousness.

3. Kumquats These small orange-like fruit contains a huge amount of Vitamine C. Vitamine C is very important for body functions, for building up new cells and healing damaged ones. In the case if this illness, it helps to staibilize the mucosa again through its benefits and leads to a quicker healing.

4. Wild Flower Honey Wild Flower Honey contains a lot of important antioxidants. These special ones have been linked to the reduction of high blood pressure. Honey in general is also well known for curing all kinds of wounds, inside and outside the body.

 1. Kava Root Kava Root is knows for its relaxing effects. It soothes the brain and helps to relax body and mind. You feel mellow and in a better mood when mixing this into your herbal teas. That´s the effect of the ingredient kavain, a slight sedative.

🍵 Anti-Nargle Nettle

Have you ever reached into your bag to retrieve your homework, only to find that it's gone? Have you ever done laundry, only to wind up with mismatching socks? We all have, and let me tell you, I suspect Narges are behind it! Steep a strong cup of this herbal tea to rest easy and strengthen your defenses against their antics.

🌿 Ingredients Nettle leaves for toxin elimination Rosehip for a healthy immune system Kava Root for a calm, stress-free mind

📜 Directions Steep this tea for 5 minutes at full boil (100 deg C) to hone all of its powers. The boiling process allows the naturally bitter and earthy flavor of the ingredients to be released. If that isn't your cup of tea*, honey is a great solution to sweeten it! Add a little - or a lot! It's up to you. The happier you are as you drink, the better the tea, with its mystical properties, will work.

Not only does this concoction work to soothe the mind and mend the body, but best of all...

Potioneer's Preferred

Like most potions, this herbal tea or infusion will take some time to prepare but is well worth the effort. Using the toxin-removing properties of activated charcoal and borage, and the immune support of orange peels, this tea helps to protect potioneers from the constant exposure to potentially harmful ingredients and fumes.

This tea is made with a traditional blend of three herbs - the active ingredient which provides the bulk of the desired effect, supportive ingredient which enhances this effect, and catalyst which brings a pleasant flavor and aroma to the finished product. Unlike the traditional blends however, the ratio of ingredients in this particular tea favors the supportive ingredient as it requires a larger amount to deliver true potency.

The active ingredient that I have chosen is Activated Charcoal derived from the seeds of the olive plant - the only version of activated charcoal that comes from a seed rather than wood. Charcoal has been used throughout the ages as a cure for poisoning. Taken soon after a mild poison, charcoal can trap toxins and render them inactive while they pass through the body. This remedy will never replace a true antidote (or a physician in the Muggle world) but can be of great value in many situations. Although the black coloring may not look particularly pleasant, charcoal will have little to no effect on flavor, especially when paired with something stronger in taste.

Acting as a support to the active ingredient are Borage Leaves. I prefer these to be fresh although dried may be used as well. Just be sure that they are no more than a year old or they will have lost their potency. Borage is helpful in eliminating harmful chemicals in the body and reduces inflammation, allowing the restorative properties of the tea to reach the bloodstream more effectively. The taste of borage is quite pleasant, often likened to cucumbers and watermelon.

Finally, as the catalyst, I have chosen Dried Orange Peel both for it's strong taste which pairs well with borage, but also for the healing benefits that it provides. Once the body has been cleared of toxins, it's good to give the immune system a jump start.

When brewed properly this tea will have a soft citrus aroma and flavor. Those who are able to detect the exceptionally subtle flavor of the charcoal may wish to add lemon or sugar to their cup, neither of which will hinder the benefits of the drink.

To Brew:

1: Bring water to a boil and add 2 tablespoons of Dried Orange Peel. Steep 20-25 minutes. 2. Remove Peels and bring temperature to just below boiling. Add Borage Leaves (3 tablespoons fresh or 3 teaspoons dry) Steep for 3 minutes. 3. Stir in 1 tablespoon Activated Charcoal powder. Allow to sit for 1 minute and strain through tightly woven cloth if desired.

Serve hot or chilled. If chilled, cooling of the tea should be done quickly by magic or else in an air-tight container as prolonged exposure to air may lessen the effectiveness of the charcoal.

As Aisling picked up her second book on herbs and teas she noticed that she'd been reading about the different plants and their properties for nearly the entire class period. She thought she would be bored with herbs, but was finding that to be quite the contrary.

Anapneo Tisane by Aisling Nicole Dearcan - Ravenclaw I've chosen to make a tisane. I wanted to make a soothing, easy to drink tea, but each time I tried to add black tea to my recipe, it took away from the flavor I wanted. And I'm not sure why, but the green tea just did not seem to add anything to it.

I chose to use primarily Licorice Root. The effect I wanted most out of my tea/tisane was to boost immunity and I really like the flavor of licorice.

My second ingredient is Slippery Elm Bark. While it's great for your digestive system, it is more often used to help with throat health. And that was my secondary reason for creating this tisane. I wanted something to help keep our throats strong and help us all to keep from getting a cold.

I added Marshmallow Root so that this tea could also be used if you had a sore throat, since it fights swelling and pain in your respiratory tract. And it also helps with your digestive system.

This tea really does double duty. It promotes throat health while also promoting a healthy digestive system. I'd like to call it Anapneo Tisane since it clears your throat in much the same way that the Anapneo spell can save you from choking. I believe it's also Greek for "I breathe" so it seems very fitting.

My tisane is not for use in persons with hypertension, liver disorders, edema, severe kidney insufficiency, low blood potassium, or heart disease. It is also very dangerous for women who are or may be pregnant, as the slippery elm bark was once used to cause abortions.

Now for the fun part. How to prepare it! Medicinal herbs: 8 grams licorice root (broken up into 2-centimeter pieces) 1 gram slippery elm bark 1 gram marshmallow root

To make the flavor even better, I found this made it taste better: 2 grams wild cherry bark 2 grams fennel seeds 2 grams cinnamon bark (broken up into 2-centimeter pieces) 2 grams sweet orange peel

Put a tablespoon of tea in a tea pot or mug and add a cup of water. Let steep for 30 minutes before drinking.

The flavor is great. The heat and steeping time are crucial so do not try to rush things. Letting the contents heat up with the water works best to "activate the slippery elm", which gives the tea the soothing, "slippery" feeling. This tisane is earthy and sweet with a silky smooth finish. It strongly tastes of licorice too, of course. I enjoyed adding a little honey to mine.

Lavender Flower Buds – Lavender is useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression, and restlessness. Some studies suggest that consuming lavender as a tea can help digestive issues such as vomiting, nausea, intestinal gas, upset stomach, and abdominal swelling. In addition to helping with digestive problems, lavender is used to help relieve pain from headaches, sprains, toothaches, and sores. It can also be used to prevent hair loss. Chamomile Flower Buds - Chamomile tea is a healthy beverage. It is rich in some powerful antioxidants that may have a variety of health benefits, including reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease. Cinnamon Stick - Cinnamon tea is a delicious and easy to prepare beverage that offers a wide range of health benefits. These include its ability to aid in weight loss, regulate blood sugar, lower cholesterol levels, prevent chronic diseases, improve digestion, strengthen the immune system, and boost cognitive function, among others. While most people associate cinnamon with a sweet flavoring for various recipes or a delicious topping for their favorite coffee drink, it is an incredibly powerful spice used in various ways to improve overall health. Lemongrass - Lemongrass is used for treating digestive tract spasms, stomachache, high blood pressure, convulsions, pain, vomiting, cough, achy joints (rheumatism), fever, the common cold, and exhaustion.

Taste: The combination of the floral undertones from the Lavender and Chamomile meeting the sweet spiciness of the Cinnamon should please any pallet. The Lemongrass adds a soft citrus taste to balance the blend. It is a fabulous tea for just before bedtime to help relieve stress, promote digestion and soothe the drinker into a sweet slumber.

Directions: Combine Lavender and Chamomile Buds with broken Cinnamon sticks and loose dried Lemongrass into a seeping pouch.

Boil fresh distilled spring water until a rolling boil (or close to 212 degrees). While the water is boiling, be sure to swill hot water into your teapot and cup to bring them to a warm-to-the-touch temperature. This helps reduce cracking on your china! Seep the tea in the water between 10 minutes (for weaker flavor) to 20 minutes (for a very strong flavor).

It’s best served with natural honey to sweeten, as sugar counteracts the soothing drink.

(OOC: I am a huge tea connoisseur and have even made my own brews. This is one I've made IRL and it's fantastic!)

Callie's Eye-Opener

Like everyone else in sixth/seventh year--particularly Slytherins and Ravenclaws--I am constantly busy with activities and have to study hard late into the evening to do my best at all my schoolwork. Sometimes, particularly during exams, I need a little pick-me-up to keep me sharp.

I start with a strong black tea--any traditional British blend will do. To this I add eyebright, which has pleasant lemony taste and aids in preventing the eye strain that comes when you are reading and writing till the wee hours of the morning and doing embroidery and fine sewing for fun. I brew this quite strong so that I can drink it cold over ice, as I find warm beverages encourage sleep. I add just a bit of peppermint to strengthen the immune system toward the end of the steeping process.

Once this herbal cooler has been poured over ice, I sweeten it with sugared blueberry juice--blueberries are also great for your eyes--and add a few drops of mood-stabilising St John's wort tincture and a thin fresh slice of ginger root.

It's a fruity, gingery cooler--almost like a summer cocktail. But it keeps you bright and cheerful when you don't have enough time to get all the sleep that you really would like.

Strain if anything got loose. Let cool to a temperature that doesn't burn your mouth. It should be a little biting, yet refreshing. Add a little sugar or honey to taste. Enjoy.

The flower of the camomile is known to be good for menstrual troubles being a relaxant, tummy soother, and a reducer of back pain. Mint leaves ease cramps, tummy upset, and gas. Ginger helps digestion and eases nausea. Together they should take care of a lot of the issues that come with the "curse." Headache Hammer

I have decided to make a tea mainly for those suffering from headaches because it's a condition I find myself in often enough. All ingredients are added in dried form for this recipe, 1 teaspoon of each in 1liter of boiling water. Leave everything to draw for 8-10 minutes depending on how strong you want your tea to be. Ingredients are as followed:

Juniper Berries: analgesic, antiseptic, mucolytic, blood-purifying, blood-building Hibiscus Blossoms: analgesic, soothing, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory Rose Blossoms: analgesic, antispasmodic, soothing, cooling

Taste: The freshness and sour taste of hibiscus combined with the rather bitter fruitiness of juniper and the flowery sweetnes of rose blossoms gives this tea a quite interesting mixture of tastes. It might not be everyone's favorite tea but for those with a headache it can do miracles.

Other: It's better to drink it hot because otherwise the bitterness of juniper gets too overwhelming in this tea. Can be sweetened with honey or rock candy.

Fade didn’t waste any time. Tea was one of his favorite drinks, besides coffee of course. The process of making tea was calming in and of itself. He knew exactly what he would use to make a tasty concoction.

Fade, Ravenclaw Think I would name it something like, Green Goodness, or Jas’mint.

Green tea - Camellia sinensis leaves (evergreen shrub). Carefully picked usually in early spring or summer. Steamed immediately and then sun dried. Many people insist green tea has medicinal properties. It contains trace amounts of caffeine to promote alertness, though not close to the same amount as contained in a cup of coffee.

Spearmint - Leaves, sun dried. Contains menthol that can relieve an upset stomach and subdue nausea. It can also help with someone's bad breath.

Jasmine - Flower. Processed at night when the flowers open. Contains different antioxidants that can protect our red blood cells from free radical-induced oxidation*

My tea would be made by layering the dried leaves: Green tea, spearmint, and fresh jasmine flowers like a cake in a stone container. It takes about four hours for the tea to absorb the Jasmine scent. Once the tea is scented, it must be dried again. The process can be repeated up to five or six time to achieve the desired scent and ultimate flavor.

Generally, lower-quality green teas are steeped hotter and longer while higher-quality teas are steeped cooler and shorter. Both Jasmine and green tea, if steeped too long can produce a really bitter flavor. I would steep mine for two and a half minutes, but no more than three minutes for a really strong flavor. The spearmint helps to offset the bitterness and brings out the smoothness of the Jasmine. I prefer my tea hot, to help calm me down after a long day. But it could be served cold with ice on a hot summer day as a refreshing pick-me-up.

Niamh smiled at the assignment - she'd been working on her herbology skills over the break, and felt reasonably comfortable with the task.

Niamh Doyle, Gryffindor I've picked lavender, peppermint and ginger. Lavender is frequently used for relaxation and to aid sleep, peppermint is meant to ease headaches (so personally I'd class that as 'relaxing'), and ginger not only helps with a warming flavour which gives the illusion of healing effects, but also is said to be a natural cure for sore throats, coughs and colds. It sounds like an odd choice for a 'good night's sleep' herbal tea, but if you have a sore throat, you aren't going to sleep well.

Picking just the tip of the flowering lavender stems, the flowers are gently removed, and crushed by hand to release the oils. The peppermint leaves are crushed in the same way, but can also be torn before crushing, in order to release more flavour. A very small amount of ginger is grated, in order to get the most flavour and effect from such a tiny piece. The entire mixture is then wrapped in a muslin cloth like a large tea bag, and steeped in not-quite-boiling water (about 90 degrees C) for 10 minutes, but can be steeped for longer if you prefer a more intense flavour. The length of the brew doesn't alter the effectiveness of the tea.

The overall taste would be a reassuring minty tang similar to toothpaste, with a hint of floral from the lavender. The aftertaste is a warming 'hug' from the ginger. It's best drunk while hot, as the flavour will intensify once the drink cools. I think my creation is best called Goodnight Dreams, as it should relax the drinker enough for them to have a decent night's sleep without resorting to spells, potions, or Muggle 'remedies'.

Parker Lange, Slytherin 🔮 Third Eye Brew 🔮 Ah Divination, the bane of many a Hogwarts student. Brew a cup of this tea to have before class and you'll find yourself feeling at ease or perhaps more open-minded... You'll never have to hear that your third eye is blocked again! Those soggy tea leaves will start looking like something for sure. Just prepare and pack a snack or two in your schoolbag though...

Active Ingredients Cannabis: 2 teaspoons of dried stems, leaves, and buds

 • crucial third eye opener; at the very least Divination-induced anxiety, stress, and depression will be reduced Chamomile: 2 teaspoons of dried buds
 • balances neurotransmitter levels; reduces anxiety through sedative effects Rosehip: 2 teaspoons of dried fruits
 • prevents oxidative stress in the brain; boosts focus and concentration

Recipe Bring a cup of water to a boil (212°F) and stir in a teaspoon of cannabis infused honey. Take the honey water off the heat and pour it into a teacup or mug. Add the dried herbs to a tea infuser. Steep the mixture in steaming hot (174°F) honey water for 5 to 10 minutes. Add a tablespoon of coconut milk to finish.

The cannabis and chamomile work in harmony to calm the agitated student. Rosehip, cannabis honey, and coconut milk impart a sweet taste and silky texture to the tea. The honey also gives this brew extra potency and the fat from the coconut milk activates the key ingredient. This tea should leave its drinker with an overwhelming feeling and sense of peace.

Keet was looking forward to brewing her own tea. Tea was her favorite hot drink, and she had gotten fairly good at coming up with her own concoctions.

Keet Arlie, Ravenclaw Nerve Soothing Tea

Ingredients

Peppermint Leaves - half tsp Chamomile Flowers - half tsp Ground Kava Root - one pinch (easy on this, so the flavor doesn't overpower the mint and chamomile) Honey - 1 tsp

Makes one cup

Directions

-Pour boiling water over tea -Steep for 3-4 minutes

As an anxious person, I decided to make a tea that would reduce stress, and also soothe some of the symptoms I feel when my anxiety flares up. I started with peppermint leaves, which can calm an upset stomach and indigestion. Nausea and stomach upset are some of the most common symptoms I get with anxiety attacks, so I thought peppermint would be a good choice. I also added chamomile flowers, which soothe the stomach as well. Chamomile has calming properties, too, which would be particularly useful for soothing anxiety. Finally, I chose kava root, which is supposed to calm stress and promote restful sleep.

Since chamomile and mint are both light, mildly sweet flavors, I added only a pinch of kava root. Kava root has a slightly bitter, earthy taste, so I also added a teaspoon of honey to counteract it. Another way to reduce the bitterness of the kava is to steep the tea for a shorter amount of time. I did a steep time of 3-4 minutes to be long enough to allow the light flavors of chamomile and mint to flavor the tea, while not being so long that it would bring too much bitterness out of the kava. The result is a lightly sweet, refreshing tea that can be enjoyed before bed time.

Sauvage sneezed and rubbed her nose with a handkerchief. Since she herself was feeling a bit under the weather, she decided to manage a tea that would help her own situation. She must have caught something when she went on a roadtrip through famous muggles cities.

Sauvage Chevaux / Hufflepuff This tea shall be called A Brew for General Illness, since all the ingredients help several different problem areas. The ingredients for this tea include: chamomile flowers, whole thyme stems, and mint leaves. The active ingredient in this tea is thyme; the the supportive ingredient is chamomile, and the catalyst ingredient is mint. That said, the measurements will be three parts thyme, two parts chamomile, and one part mint.

The purpose of thyme is to boost the immune system, break fevers, and soothe coughs. When sick, the best thing to do is always make sure your stress is low and chamomile has a beneficial effect on such things. As for mint, it will help with flavor and also aid in several other medicinal purposes: digestion, inflammation, brain health.

As is common with most herbal teas, this tea should be steeped in water that is between 97 and 100 degrees Celsius. If you go by the American units, then that is between 208 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The taste and aroma should be calming and florally from the chamomile, mildly earthy from thyme, and with a bit of hop in energy from the mint. I would recommend adding a spoonful of honey to sweeten the tea and to also soothe the throat if the drinker is experiencing soreness.
