Hey everyone! I've been watching a lot of live feed aquarium cams lately and wanted to learn more fish species, especially less common ones.
Please share your favorite type of fish. Post a picture or tell a story about it if you'd like.
I recently learned clownfish change sex throughout their life to fit the needs of the school. I've always been fascinated by how diverse the natural world is and how varied evolutionary solutions are, so I think clown fish are near the top for me.
Just look at these cuties:

Thanks for posting!
I think cowfish are amazing and cute! Here's a pic:

Pacific sand dab, one of few left dominant fish out there.
The first time I'm hearing the phrase "left dominant fish."
I just learned that when it comes to fish who have their eyes on one side, "Some species face their left sides upward, some face their right sides upward, and others face either side upward." It's so odd to think of a species of fish where some of them have eyes on the left, and others have eyes on the right.
Super cool! Thanks for sharing. c:
The black ghost knife fish's face reminds me of a salamander. It's so cute!
i love love love koi
theyre like :o all the time and i love it
a runner up is the ocean sunfish. so large.

Thanks for posting! Koi are one of my favorites and the ocean sunfish was cool to learn about. What a big fish with a unique look. The ocean is full of so much wonder.

ALL TYPE OF SHARKS!! LOVE!! MUCH LOVE! But whale sharks ... ❤️

I also love lion fish and nudibranch! (if the latter count?)
I also really like hatchet fish. Idk, I’m bad at picking a singular favorite
Woah, you're right! Those are some big goldies.
The nudibranch looks cool, even if it's not a fish, and I'm happy you shared it. I forgot about whale sharks! When I was a kid I had a whale shark and beluga whale bath toy set and used to love both those animals a lot.
Haha, it's fine. The deep-sea ones are amazing.
I like the cute little amazonian river ones. Marbled or Silver are the common ones. They’re kinda hard to care for but they’re adorable
Oh, this is a fun thread! Coelacanths, arapaimas, any type of eel... honestly, if it looks like some kind of ancient dinosaur-fish, then I love it. Also, anything from the corydoras family. They're such a delightful addition to freshwater aquariums, because of how they shoal together and swim-scuttle along the substrate. And they're CUTE. How could you say no to a silly face like this?

I'm also a fan of bettas, when they're well-bred. And crayfish, although I don't think that counts as a fish. And sea cucumbers. I LOVE sea cucumbers. And nudibranchs. And sharks? Blobfish too? So basically anything that lives in a river or ocean...

I've never seen one of those l'il guys. Super cute and I like the patterns on the fins a lot. c:
The tripod fish is really neat! It's a deep ocean fish that stands on loooooooong fins, waiting for prey.
