Since the old topic was locked due to inactivity, I thought I'd make a new one! :) Does anyone here collect ball-jointed dolls? If so, who is in your crew?

Currently I have: Withdoll Emma (elf version) Withdoll Angela (elf version) Souldoll Aehael (on order)

Floating heads: Rakeru Sensei Enni Sweet Elf Souldoll Junia Elf (notice a trend? lol) And a Souldoll Clodia, Kuu, and Mewo on order.

I am hoping to get my Enni a body soon, but it might still be awhile. :'D

Oof, too many tbh lol. Been in the hobby since 2007 and as such I've amassed quite a few. I've been busy as of late with other hobbies and haven't used tumblr in AGES but I have a list of mine over on my doll sideblog. (oof it's so outdated that some of my mnf girls don't have faceups in their pics and I've since sold my doc boy;;; )

I really want to get back into the hobby though and get back to taking more photos in general.

wanted: any pet with a March 22[sup]nd[/sup] 2019 birthday
event clickables ❤ ❤ [egg=shark] ❤ [tp=shark] ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Ohhh, goodluck! If you don't use instagram already, I find it really good to get motivational about photos; it's really easy to use. I've thought about using flickr but it seems flickr has been bought by another company, so I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it just yet.

I don't use tumblr, though. I tried it for awhile but I ended up deleting it; tumblr is very easy to sink a lot of time into, and it was frustrating as hell to use it for my dolls. I only had very safe-for-work photos and half the time, they wouldn't show up in tags and for some reason tumblr would take FOREVER to upload photos :( There is that and... ehhh... I'm not too fond of the overall (beyond just bjd) community on tumblr, honestly. I feel like there is a lot of toxic attitudes that are unfortunately very prevalent.

If I still used it, I'd follow you though! I love your DoD dolls; it's so nice seeking them around! Minifees can sometimes be so tempting, too... I thought about getting a minifee body for my Enni head and/or maybe an mnf Eliya, but I haven't went for it just yet... Right now I'm mostly just waiting for Summerbird to open up orders and I'm going to try to get a Mystique head, I think. I've been considering on getting a boy doll sometime, though. Some variety in my crew would probably be pretty nice, especially since I never really owned too many male dolls, lol.

I'm a newish BJD collector but I really love dolls! I have a Fairyland Minifee Celine, Withdoll Ruby, and Iplehouse Cordelia.

I have three more on the wanted list...but I need to save my money right now so it's all on hold.

I'm a huge fan of BJDs but can't say I really collect them myself. If they (even a smidge) count, I have around 100 Monster High dolls from when I was a teenager. I also have one Pullip, it's the Akemi! I adore her. I've never bought a BJD more expensive than her, I just can't bring myself to. I admire (and drool!) from afar, however.

They're not a bjd since it has to be strung with elastic and have ball or modified ball-joints, but they are articulated fashion dolls, which are fun! I collected a lot of monster high and after after high dolls in the past, but I ended up stopping with the reboot... which prompted me to actually start collecting pullips, and then bjds, LOL. If you want to get more Pullip/Groove products though, if you live in the USA, you might want to keep an eye on Tuesday Mornings! Sometimes they get Pullip and other Groove dolls in stock for about $50, otherwise, the jpgroove website is really nice... especially for "sample" dolls which are often really discounted!

Ohh! Another Withdoll owner! I love Withdoll so much, LOL. A Withdoll Ruby (elf version) was kinda-sorta my first BJD - she was the second one I ever bought, but she was the first one to actually get to me! I still regret letting her go, though! It's too bad Withdoll doesn't sell limited heads separately, I'd just get all of the elves, ahaha :') Celine and Cordelia are super cute, though!

Hujoos are still a bjd, no need to strike it out! :) Which Hujoo do you have? And Iris is so interesting! I love her little wings, how they fall next to her arms reminds me of the Zora's arm fins from Ocarina of Time!

I have a Hujoo Berry. I may end up dyeing her (if I can) because she's white as a ghost and it doesn't fit her cutesy vibe.

I would love to collect them, but the import fees on my contry make it waaay too expensive...

I'm planning on trying to cast my own bjd when I have free time through, does it count?

I have an IOS Anarmonia, a Dollzone Devon, a Doll Family A practice head(she went from practice to a doll with a body. She's too cute to be stuck a practice head. : D), and a Souldoll Sharics. I've been eyeing the Doll Chateau Hyman though. I love the funky weird dolls and bodies, but I seriously need to get Dollzone Devon a body before I grab another bjd. :(

On the bright side, since Dollzone and Doll Chateau are sister companies, other than maybe perhaps the affects of age, the resin color should be very close/the same! I don't envy you if you decide to buy a new one, though. ^^; Their wait times can be quite long, although rewarding.

Yeah, that counts! :) Casting can be difficult and expensive though, so goodluck and be careful! I plan on sculpting some stuff as well - I have some clay already - but I have a feeling a lot of my sculpting would be to make display busts so I can have something to put floating heads on to make wigs... that isn't my whole dolls body with their limbs flying around |D;

I do have some lucky dolly updates, though ;o; I sold a few things, and now I have my grail on order with Souldoll! Since they rereleased Aehael, I was finally able to put her on order, with the help of family; she's partially my Christmas/Birthday present, and I paid the rest (and since I sold her event head to a friend, that helped also cover costs a bit more too lol).

I was also extremely lucky (awhile after I made this thread) to also snag a Souldoll Calia secondhand, at a really good price, too... I also have some heads from souldoll's discontinuation sale from a few months ago I am still waiting on, so I was really naughty and I am awaiting a dolly diet, lmao. I am hoping to hopefully get some stuff sold and, with a little bit more saving, be able to put a 5stardoll teen girl body on order for my Junia. I really hope the hybrid will be a good one XD; A lot of my soon-to-be-here floating heads will be sharing a body with Aehael when she arrives, but that's ok! I am hoping to get some faceup supplies and, in the foreseeable future, practice that (if Wisconsin weather cooperates) and sewing.

I'm still debating how I should dye her, haha. T

Although, between college and other events, I haven't had enough time/energy to do much with any of my dolls.... RIP.

I can understand that; I've been busy with college too, and I can't wait until finals are done and I can finally focus on some of my doll stuff! I am hoping to get some faceup supplies come spring/summer so I can start practicing with that, too. I hope your dye job goes well (or did go well, if you've already done it)!

It's definitely hard to keep the hobby going when you have work and college. I've been studying a ton, and working a lot. The small amount of time I have is spent on my bjd.

Planning on getting some wig making tools, so I don't have to search 2-3hrs just for that one wig that looks close to what I want. Decided it'd be a good idea to get some practice in and eventually be able to make my own wigs. It's hard to find a short wig in bright carrot red that doesn't look like it belongs on a teenager(it'd work with Hyman though ;3;). Want something a bit more mature looking for DZ Devon.

Don't forget to get a good respirator. Don't want anything bad happening. And don't be like me and forget to get the thin brushes. I think the hardest part in this hobby is trying not to splurge all your money into spoiling all your bjds. I bought three pairs of eyes for Devon alone. Please send help. xD

Hehe, don't worry! :) I have a respirator, goggles, and an airbrush right now. <3 I just have to get some sealants, brushes, and pastels... I will have to play around with the sealants, though. I am planning on primarily using Liquitex but I will have to see how it interacts (if at all) with UV-cut Mr. Super Clear and this one other sealant that I'm forgetting the name on that was good for fantasy & dark resin colors. If everything goes well I'd like to use the UV-cut to help protect my doll's resin a little bit but MSC is super toxic compared to other sealants, so I'd much rather use Liquitex primarily (if/when possible) |D

And don't worry about eyes, you're not alone lmao. Right now I have a bunch of eyes I bought during sales etc or whenever I found cheap secondhand to have as a reference since the dolls I like tend to have very small eyes, so I have a lot more pairs of eyes than I do dolls. :'D Right now I'm in a very weird part of my collection since I'm selling a lot of stuff and switching stuff up, actually; eventually I might be moving in a flat with my boyfriend so I wanted to try to... minimize my bjds a bit beforehand since they honestly take up a lot of space, specifically with their boxes.

That said... if you do decide to look at company wigs again... I'd suggest looking into Monique ^_^ They have several red shades, one of which is literately "carrot red" lol. Their Gold label wigs are made with synthetic mohair which is super soft and pretty, though it is prone to a lot of fly-aways. That said, wig making can be pretty fun! I plan on making a lot of wigs when I start customizing some playline dolls this summer because I do not have the patience for rerooting :'D

I think I know what you're talking about for the dark resins. Think it's called Zoukeimura. I haven't tried Liquitex yet, but it sounds like a better alternative to MSC, especially since it'd be easier to buy at someplace like Micheals than waiting for it to come via Amazon. And they seem cheaper too. O:

Eyes are much easier to collected and store too. I think that's why I tend to just buy them randomly, although I'm trying to cut back on that. It's a love/hate relationship when eyes go on sale. You're sorely tempted to get some, but you know you shouldn't. But the shade is just right.

Yep! I already have that wig. It's the reason why I'm searching around for another wig of the same or near same color. Monique Gold Collection has some fantastic wigs. They don't have the carrot red in short though. I've seen a ton of wig locks on sale, and there are definitely a bunch in similar shades to what I'm looking for. It's also because I've seen a ton of custom made wigs on sites like Etsy, and they're so beautiful but so expensive. ;-;

I have a few BJDs. I've been working on trying to make wigs for my smaller dolls, as nice 3-4 inch wigs are difficult to find.
